Job Duties · Conduct analytical studies, modeling and experimentation to guide design and manufacture of metallic and composite materials/structures. · Participate in the research and development of innovative sensors, algorithms and advanced solutions in the areas of nondestructive characterization of materials. · Pursue research in computational material science, material design, development and application, work closely with project managers and team members on research projects. · Successful candidates are expected to continue and expand existing programs and write research proposals for new research directions. Required Skills & Education · Strong knowledge background in material science (metallurgy and composites) and mechanical behavior of materials. · 3 years + experience in experimental and modeling of metal and composite material/structures. · Proficient in material characterization, testing, and behavior analysis. · Ph.D. or Master's degree in Material Science, Mechanical, Aerospace or related field. · Strong written and communication skills Preferred Skills · Experience in one or more of the following fields: additive manufacturing, composite materials, NDE, modeling and optimization. · Capability of Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME), thermodynamic modeling, multiscale and multiphysics modeling. · Knowledge of FEM, meshless or particle based method. · Programming Languages: ANSYS/ABAQUS, Matlab, Labview, C/C++/C#, Python · Experience with technical report and proposal writing Candidates with U.S. citizenship or legal permanent resident status is required. Target Salary Range $112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
