Kodiak is seeking a resourceful individual with broad knowledge and understanding of HVAC and related systems to join our team as a Mechanical Design Engineer. You will be responsible for performing a wide range of HVAC activities for commercial and industrial customers. We are looking for someone who can contribute, grow, think, and create.
This is not a remote position. Candidates must live within a reasonable commute distance to our office in Tacoma, WA (or plan to relocate prior to hire date).
SALARY RANGE: $150,000 to $165,000 per year
JOB FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES (other duties may be assigned)
Work with Sales and Project Managers to provide timely field-related design solutions for our customers
Analyze customer specifications and performance requirements to determine mechanical designs
Assist with budgets, pre-contract designs and presentations
Active participant in all aspects of system design process: research, design, load calculations for system sizing, layout, sizing of components, equipment selection
Manage projects with both internal and external deadlines and changing time constraints
Design all details for construction required elements for installation
Assure all code requirements are met providing necessary information for permit application
Produce O&M's, Commissioning and other documents required for project communication and completion
Perform site surveys as required to verify details necessary for complete and accurate design
Monitor design standards and implement/practice quality control
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Three years related experience in HVAC or construction industry
Related experience in plumbing design preferred, but not required
Equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, CAD, Revit a plus

Familiarity with HVAC principles and technical applications
Ability to comprehend and implement applicable HVAC related federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations

Qualifications
Here is what we are looking for:
Ideally, you'll have a Bachelor's in Physics, Optics, E.E., or related degree. 2+ years industry, but we will consider alternate experience.
You'll be devising imaging systems and need to be familiar with optical and imaging principles such as depth of field, camera gain, exposure value, calibration techniques, illumination techniques, light polarization, etc.
You'll be working with software packages and libraries such as imageJ, GIMP, open CV and should have familiarity with a scripting language such as Python, Ruby, Matlab, Octave, etc.
You'll need to be comfortable working with other members of the team who might be Software or Hardware engineering, researchers or technical sales engineers to define what's needed and then work independently to accomplish the task.
You will need to be comfortable working with component vendors to identify and source equipment that meets project requirements.
You'll need to be good at analyzing and documenting the results of your work and may occasionally be called on to communicate these results to customers or your teammates in technical presentations.

Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline
* 6+ years of industry experience with a proven track record of full product development cycle of Consumer Electronics
* Experience and expertise in these areas: optical design software, geometrical optics, wave optics, and polarization optics, optical materials, coatings, manufacturing processes, Imaging optics design and manufacturing, display optics, optical sensing, optical system integration and testing
* Technical leadership, communication, and project management skills
* Problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills
Preferred Qualifications
* Advanced degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline
* In-depth knowledge of electromagnetic modeling techniques, such as the finite element method (FEM), finite-difference time-domain (FDTD), and rigorous coupled-wave analysis (RCWA)
* Experience working with optical design software such as Meep, Lumerical, LightTools, Zemax, Code V, FRED, or similar
* Experience in building predictive optical models, validating designs and models with metrology data, and closing the loop between simulations and measurements
* Experience using scripting languages and data analysis tools such as Python, JMP, or MATLAB
* Experience working with external vendors to deliver custom optical components, modules, or systems, involving challenging optical requirements to drive innovative fabrication process development, and new opto-mechanical integration and metrology techniques
* Process development and failure analysis experience for optical components and modules such as cameras, sensors, or illumination/projector systems
* Experience in developing optical modules or systems in highly multidisciplinary environments, including setting specifications, determining test methods, and overall module and system integration

Boeing Global Services (BGS) is currently seeking a Structures Design Engineer (Level 2 or 3) to work at our Everett, WA location. This is a great opportunity to work in the Commercial Airplanes Washington Design Center.
Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Experienced and Career Levels - Struct & Payload Design Engr (Structural Design).
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the Everett, WA facility.
Position Overview:
In this role, you will be focused on the evaluation of in-service (fleet) performance of the landing gear, evaluation for wear and corrosion, and establishing a technical basis supporting maintenance and overhaul. This role will involve working with Customer Support Engineering, Operator/Customers, and Maintenance and Repair Organization (MRO) providers. There is the potential for international travel.
The Landing Gear Design Center is responsible for the full life cycle of landing gears from product development through post-production, across all BGS programs. Assigned work may evolve over time.
Position Responsibilities:
Coordinates with Customer Support Engineering, Operator/Customers, and Maintenance and Repair Organizations (MRO) for collection of data during landing gear overhauls
Evaluates data for wear, corrosion, and other damage to determine overall landing gear in-service performance
Predicts landing gear in-service performance for varying overhaul intervals
Recommends changes in maintenance practices to improve landing gear in-service performance, where necessary
Works under general direction.
Export Control:
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a US Person as defined by 22 C.F.R 120.15 is required. US Person includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
2+ years' related work experience in design
Bachelor's Degree or higher in one of the following engineering majors: Mechanical, Aerospace, Aeronautical, or Civil, and select Structures degrees
