With limited supervision from the R&D Director, the R&D Manager is responsible for managing analytic labs, supporting technical services at mills and converters, and leading coating development, and product development initiatives from concept through commercialization. Key Responsibilities * Manages coating development projects, which are primarily involved in reducing the cost of coatings. This involves composing detailed plans, timelines and budgets to address project scope and goals. Coordinates work within the R&D team to manage the pilot coater and drawdown studies to accomplish these goals. * Supports new product development (NPD) initiatives for the mill division and AMC as needed. * Works with Corp Procurement and Mills on coating projects related to qualifying Suppliers. * Leads coating, calendaring, and wet-end trials at mills. * Develop cost models for new paperboard machinery and processes, including capital estimation and requirements. * Assist in the development of existing and new GPI packaging concepts, focusing on manufacturability. * Provide engineering expertise to support R&D activities aligning with new business objectives. * Offer technical insight into proposed capital equipment installations. * Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining focus on customer commitments and timelines. * Prepare and present detailed reports and presentations on project progress to senior staff and customers. * Engage with customers during concept, design, and process development phases for new packaging initiatives. * Establish and maintain key relationships with suppliers. * Lead investigations utilizing both internal and external analytical resources. * Provide expertise in board and converting to offer recommendations based on sample analytics. * Collaborate with teams to troubleshoot board, coating, converting, and printing technical issues. * Conduct competitive analysis including board comparisons, business models, competitor capabilities, and future capacity. * Conduct analytical analysis of samples using FTIR, GCMS, Optical Microscope, and all Tappi-based test equipment. The Lab Research Technician conducts research aimed at understanding the atmospheric chemistry impact of space exploration activities. This position conducts research work including developing model code to simulate and project the emissions of aerosols associated with these activities, their transport and transformation in the whole atmosphere, and their cascading effect on atmospheric chemistry and radiative transfer. REPORTS TO: Child Nutrition Coordinator FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Substitute (7 hours per day) QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or its equivalent; a minimum of one year successful food service experience and competent in all areas of performance; positive attitude; ability to be a team worker; good communication skills; ability to lift and carry 25 pounds and 50 pounds with assistance; ability to complete math problems involving fractions, decimals, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES * Follow individual work schedule, production schedule, and weekly cleaning schedule. * Give and receive information. * Use and clean equipment. * Practice regular equipment maintenance. * Use standardized recipes; measure correctly. * Prepare meals using correct food preparation techniques. * Check food quality during preparation. * Promote the Child Nutrition program to students, faculty, administrators, and others. * Assist Manager with accepting and storing deliveries (as necessary) * Remove garbage and trash from cafeteria. * Use safe working procedures; correct and/or report unsafe working conditions. * Adhere to established personal hygiene techniques. * Use acceptable sanitation techniques in food handling. * Use established sanitation techniques for cleaning the facility. * Serve correct portions and report amounts of foods used and leftover. * Maintain correct holding temperature of food. * Understand and interprets written and verbal instructions * Promote professionalism by encouraging membership and participation in the School Nutrition Association. * Implement the "no charge" policy. * Perform all computer tasks using CNP software * Work as a team player with all cafeteria staff * Performs duties at an efficient pace * Work at other cafeteria locations (when necessary) * Perform any other tasks as assigned by employee's supervisor * PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: ATTENDANCE, PUNCTUALITY, AND SAFETY * Adhere to district guidelines relative to attendance.
