This position is responsible for supporting R&D activities of one or more product lines. The technician will conduct experiments, compile data results, and reactions in support of R&D Sustaining and New Product Developments. They will follow testing plans as laid out by R&D Chemists and Managers and record and report results in a detailed and thorough manner. This position may participate in special studies and be required to conduct testing and work outside of established standard operating procedures.
Essential Duties:
* Conduct routine analytical tests to determine chemical, and physical properties of raw materials, process, and product samples.
* Manufactures samples and prototype formulations.
* Tests proposed formulations for performance, lifetime, and manufacturability and suggest modifications as warranted.
* Conducts competitive product testing, as required.
* Accurately and thoroughly recording and entering data into electronic systems and R&D lab notebooks.
* Reports progress on pending projects at regular timeframes.
* Act with strong listening and analytical skills to develop/maintain relationships and deliver results.
* Helps maintain laboratory equipment and assists with calibrations.
* Follows AS9100 Quality Management System as applies to R&D and as defined in the Quality System.
* Actively participates in company Safety Programs, as required, and practices safe work methods on a daily basis.
* Actively supports and participates in the site Laboratory Safety and Chemical Hygiene Program.
* Attends company sponsored training and outside seminars as required.
* Acts in accordance with company policies, procedures, and corporate ethics.

Education & Experience:
* B.S. degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or related field from an accredited college or university.
* Proficient within Windows based environment. Experienced in Microsoft Office Suite software (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook).
* Experience working with ERP systems, particularly Microsoft Navision, a plus.
* Proficiency in using standard laboratory equipment.
* Experience following SOPs and GLPs.
* Experience working under ISO 9001/AS 9100 Quality Management environments a plus.
* Exposure to GHS and other regulatory requirements applicable to the supported product line(s) a plus.

Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with Scientists and Packaging Engineers to understand study requirements and determine the best study design to address research questions
* Conduct research using various types of chromatography to investigate ingredients and products
* Analyze and interpret data and summarize into final reports with recommendations that are prepared for and presented to a wide variety of audiences
* Develop and validate methods for investigating pet foods throughout their shelf life
* Manage projects and studies to ensure successful execution

Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range $89,000.00 - $100,000.00 USD
Pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Salaried employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing, and long-term incentives for Executive-level roles.

The base salary range for this role is $127,440 to $159,300. Base salary is part of our total rewards package which also includes the opportunity for merit-based salary increases, short incentive plan participation, eligibility for our 401(k) plan, medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances and leaves provided in line with your work state. Our robust time-off policy includes flexible paid time off, 11 paid holidays plus additional time off for a shut-down period during the last week of December, 80 hours of paid sick time upon hire and each year thereafter. Total compensation, including base salary to be offered, will depend on elements unique to each candidate, including candidate experience, skills, education and other factors permitted by law.

The Center for the Advancement of Research on Eating Behaviors (CARE) at the University of Kansas (care.ku.edu) is seeking an Associate Researcher to support its multidisciplinary program focused on advancing the early detection, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of eating disorders across the lifespan.
CARE conducts large-scale, federally funded research that integrates clinical science, implementation science, and digital health innovation to improve outcomes for individuals with eating disorders and related mental-health conditions. The Associate Researcher will contribute to and lead aspects of ongoing federally funded studies, including the Building Healthy Eating and Self-Esteem Together for University Students (BEST-U) trial, Smart Technology for Anorexia Nervosa Recovery (STAR) trial, Department of Defense-funded projects focused on eating pathology in military and veteran populations, and additional NIH- and endowment-supported research.

CARE conducts large-scale, federally funded research that integrates clinical science, implementation science, and digital health innovation to improve outcomes for individuals with eating disorders and related mental-health conditions. This position is designed to provide intensive research and clinical training to prepare the successful candidate for an academic or clinical scientist career.
The Associate Researcher will contribute to and lead aspects of ongoing federally funded studies, including the Building Healthy Eating and Self-Esteem Together for University Students (BEST-U) trial, Smart Technology for Anorexia Nervosa Recovery (STAR) trial, Department of Defense-funded projects focused on eating pathology in military and veteran populations, and additional NIH- and endowment-supported research.
CARE also houses extensive existing data resources, including:
