Position Summary:
This position performs duties as assigned by the shift supervisor in all areas campus protection, safety and security functions to provide a safe and secure environment for all patients, staff and visitors at the Hospital. This position will frequently rotate assignments/duties working as rover, control center or secure door officer, as scheduled/assigned. Roving campus or program oriented detail duties involve patrolling assigned areas and patient occupied buildings for safety/security purposes; providing immediate response to dangerous or emergency situations relating to patients, staff or visitors; pursuing, searching, apprehending and/or returning walkaways or escapees; controlling and/or containing volatile or riot conditions, as well as providing assistance in caring for dangerous, hostile or combative patients. Provides enforcement of contraband items being brought into the facility, and by assisting in random checks of items entering the building. Secure door position checking packages and personal property using a tomography/x-ray machine, walk through metal detectors or other equipment as needed to check employees and visitors for prohibited items. * Reports and logs all activities in the department logbook and department Plexus log.
* Present on Triage as needed for new admissions.
* Checks employees and visitors' personal property for prohibited items, and prevents them from entering the facility
* Routinely confer with Shift Leaders for Programmatic reports.
* Operates all Control Centers.
* Monitors and controls exterior access to buildings and internal movement of patients in building.
* Monitors and responds to fire and PPD alarms systems.
* Monitors video surveillance equipment both inside the buildings and on perimeter.
* Provides switchboard duties after regular hours, weekends and holidays.
* Checks out state vehicles as required/requested
* Check out post keys/pharmacy key cards as required.
* Reports and logs of all activities on the department Plexus log.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
* Valid driver's license at time of hire and maintained throughout employment.
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Be able to complete Department of Corrections or KDADS training within the first 6 months of employment.
* Requires an approved drug test approved by the Kansas Department of Administration unless the incumbent is moving from one safety-sensitive position to another safety-sensitive position within the same agency performing substantially similar duties.

Position Summary:
a) Work is performed under the supervision of a Registered Nurse who reviews and assesses work performance for adherence to Hospital/Nursing Service policies and procedures (standard of care) as well as desired outcomes.

This is done by the employee directly involving themselves regularly in-patient activities both observing and escorting. It may be necessary to drive or walk patients to their schedules, meals, appointments, etc., both on and off grounds. Implements the admission process of the newly admitted patient. This is done by beginning to develop trust and rapport, familiarizing the new patient with the ward environment, introducing other staff and patients, explaining the ward/program rules and regulations, assisting with the patient's personal belongings, and completing the personal property inventory. Observes the patients in order to detect and report any unusual or potentially aggressive behavior. This requires knowledge of and ability to recognize characteristics of mentally ill behavior and utilizing good judgment.
Attempts are made to use the least restrictive interventions; however, if necessary and under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the employee may restrain and/or seclude patients in order to prevent the patient from injuring themselves or others. This requires knowledge of, current certification and adherence to accepted restraining techniques, policies, and procedures; the physical strength to restrain patients; the ability to act quickly, and in a calm and therapeutic manner; and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

Makes rounds and conducts special checks on patients to ensure patient safety. This is done through regular observation of patient's15-minute checks and close observation of all patients' physical and psychological status.
Exhibits good work habits to assure adequate and safe staffing coverage. This is done by being on time, being at work when scheduled and being willing to accept assignments as needed.

Documents information in the Medical Record (Patient Care System) to meet standards. This is done in order to alert the next shift to patients on precautions; document significant incidents and changes in patient behavior, attitude, appetite, physical problems, etc.: provide input into treatment planning; recognize a patient's progress or regression; and track movement off grounds and in the Hospital.

Position Summary & Responsibilities
Position Summary:
This Primary Care Physician (Family Medicine or Internal Medicine) will be providing medical care for an adult female/male population. The physician must demonstrate the necessary knowledge and skills to provide patient care as outlined in the Medical Staff Bylaws. The physician will abide by the mission statement of Larned State Hospital, in addition to all applicable State and Federal laws and guidelines. This physician will be professional in all patient and staff interactions.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
Medical Care
* Follows the progress of the patient, assessing the medical conditions, evaluating the effectiveness of the prescribed regimen, and modifying treatment as indicated
* Orders laboratory tests and other diagnostic procedures
* Assesses the need for seclusion and restraint and takes responsibility for justifying such treatment
* Maintains an assigned clinical caseload.
* Consults appropriately with supervisor or other LSH personnel who can provide expertise in special treatment problems, as well as making referrals to consultants as deemed appropriate
* Quality of patient care delivered is reviewed and evaluated on a regular basis by supervisor and subject to peer review process
* Participates in consultations with medical/psychiatric consultants, making adequate preparation and/or completing initial screening tests in order to provide adequate date for the consultant, and follows up as appropriate
* Participates in hospital-wide OD rotation.
Supervisory and Administrative Responsibilities
* Provides supervision to primary care staff including MD/Dos and APRNs
* Communicates with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) regarding primary care staff issues
* Processes primary care staff timesheets
* Assists Medical Staff Administrative Officer in finalizing leave coverage for primary care staff
* Sits on administrative committees
* Chairs Infection Control and Outside Medical Committees
Patient Medical Record
* Documents patient assessments, clinical progress, and rationale for treatment plan and subsequent changes in the treatment plan as required by accrediting agencies and LSH Policy
* Reviews and rewrites of medication and treatment orders monthly, or as needed to meet patient's needs
* Completes Discharge Summaries at the time of the patient's discharge within the required time frame
Meetings/Continuing Education/Training/Activities
* Attends and participates in treatment planning meetings and/or staffing and court hearings regarding assigned patients, as well as attending and participating in daily staff meetings as needed
* Attends and actively participates in Medical Staff Conferences, Department Meetings, and Quality Improvement Activities, and other committees or ad hoc committees as assigned.
* Completes CME as needed to maintain licensure.
* Completes training as required by LSH.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
* Kansas Licensure or Institutional License at time of hire
* DEA license
* Requires an approved drug test approved by the Kansas Department of Administration unless the incumbent is moving from one safety-sensitive position to another safety-sensitive position within the same agency performing substantially similar duties.
* CPI Certification within one month of employment and maintain certification throughout employment
* CPR/AED Certification within sixty-days of employment and maintain certification throughout employment
