Will also assists the Psychology Internship Director and Post-Doc Training Director in recruitment activities and communication with prospective, current, and newly hired interns/post docs/practicum students and maintaining files for APA accreditation standards. Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following: * Data entry for psychology, activity therapy, and social work directors * Tracks completed read policies and other paperwork for all three disciplines * Sending admission paperwork to guardians * Faxes information from social work to NMHFS * Maintains psychology practicum, internship and post-doc files electronic and hardcopy * Inputs data into dashboards * Assists activity therapy with greenhouse emails, seasonal sales, and flyers * Distributes movies to SSP and PSP for activity therapy * Updates public website and intranet * Coordinates distribution of keys, tours, signed contracts environmental service schedules, and services calls for the intern house * Faxes and scans applications for social work staff * Assists in interview and hiring process for Directors of Psychology, Social Work, Activity Therapy, and Internship Director * Assists in updating program manuals for activity therapy, psychology and social work directors * Receives call ins from social work, psychology and activity therapy and relays the call ins to the appropriate supervisors/unit * Completes special projects and performs other duties as assigned including but not limited to ensuring the agency is adequately staffed during and immediately following natural and/or manmade disasters, infectious disease outbreaks, and/or acts of terrorism. Implements the admission process of the newly admitted patient. This is done by beginning to develop trust and rapport, familiarizing the new patient with the ward environment, introducing other staff and patients, explaining the ward/program rules and regulations, assisting with the patient's personal belongings, and completing the personal property inventory. Observes the patients in order to detect and report any unusual or potentially aggressive behavior. This requires knowledge of and ability to recognize characteristics of mentally ill behavior and utilizing good judgment. Attempts are made to use the least restrictive interventions; however, if necessary and under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the employee may restrain and/or seclude patients in order to prevent the patient from injuring themselves or others. This requires knowledge of, current certification and adherence to accepted restraining techniques, policies, and procedures; the physical strength to restrain patients; the ability to act quickly, and in a calm and therapeutic manner; and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Remains flexible to patient needs. Stays focused under pressure of the numerous demands of the unit. Environment / Safety Demonstrates knowledge of handling crisis/emergency situations to ensure patient/staff safety.
