The Department of Chemistry at the University of Virginia is seeking qualified candidates for a Research Scientist position in membrane protein biophysics. We are seeking a Research Scientist who will thrive in a collaborative research environment and facilitate research in membrane and membrane protein biophysics. The Columbus research group investigates the structure, dynamics, and function of membrane proteins using a variety of biophysical approaches. We also have numerous collaborations that connect biophysics with physiology and microbiology. We are currently a team of 11 graduate students and a laboratory specialist. The research scientist hired for the position will mentor students in their research projects, facilitate current and future collaborations, conduct their own research project, and write manuscripts and grants. The Computational Biomedical Imaging Group (CBIG) pursues research on the development of new algorithms for the reconstruction and post-processing of medical and biological images.
