The patrol duties include: crime prevention, investigations, emergency response, and public assistance. Police Officers protect and promote public safety throughout the city through enforcement of all federal, state, and local laws; preserve public peace; protect life and property; prevent crime; detect and apprehend violators of the law; as well as assist in the judicial process by reporting the facts of investigations to the prosecuting attorneys and by testifying in court.
