Duties / Responsibilities
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
As a Community Service Officer you will be tasked with enforcing parking and city ordinances, animal control, and maintaining public safety at various scenes. Responsibilities include investigating animal complaints, maintaining the animal facility, assisting in fleet maintenance, and supporting patrol officers with traffic management and evidence processing. The position also handles clerical duties, delivers departmental documents, and participates in community policing activities.
Specifically as a Community Service Officer you will...
* Perform animal control duties, including call response, preliminary and follow-up investigations, reports, paper service for dangerous dog and potentially dangerous dog, animal care/maintenance, and animal control facility maintenance.
* Identify traffic violations and enforces downtown parking and city-wide ordinances.
* Assist in fleet maintenance, shuttling vehicles as needed, care/cleaning/ maintaining the LEC garages.
* Assist officers with various calls, such as accident scenes, private property crashes, crime scene security, medical emergencies, fire scene traffic control, funeral escorts, handling found property, tow releases/impounds, entering property evidence, and issuing fix-it tickets.
* Provide tours of the police department, including squad car tours at schools, daycares, and upon request at other events for community policing.
* Assist in crime prevention activities, including action requests, house checks, park checks, school patrols before and after school, and community policing.
* Provide delivery services to the department, including transporting evidence to the BCA, delivering documents to the county attorney's office, and picking up video evidence as requested by patrol officers. Assists with investigations by recovering and transporting evidence and delivering reports, photographs, or prints to other law enforcement agencies.
* Perform clerical duties, including data entry into Visual Labs.
* Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.
Qualifications
