This position will prepare 3D designs associated with Department of Defense projects at Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, UT. This onsite role offers a W2 hourly base rate up to $90.00/hour with time and a half for overtime, per diem, and mobilization / demobilization. U.S. Citizenship Is Required. Education / Experience: Associate Degree in Engineering or Certificate in 3D CAD design. 10+ years of relevant work experience. 5+ years of experience using SmartPlant 3D design software. Previous DoD/DoE, USACE, NAVFAC, or USAF experience highly preferred. Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, and piping codes. Major Responsibilities Building layout in Smart Plant (SP3D) model environment. Modeling of piping, HVAC, and equipment in the 3D model environment. Preparation of drawings/documents for floor plans. Assist with coordination of 3D model activities, (i.e. input, interference reconciliation, etc.) with other physical related disciplines. Interface with pipe stress and pipe support engineers, construction, and suppliers during the preparation of designs for the purpose of model/space control, etc. Perform coordination review of specifications and other documents prepared by others. Plans, develops, coordinates, and reviews design work within a small-size Plant Design and Piping (PD&P) design work group. Produces drawings and documentation in accordance with established design and scope including foundation design and steel detailing. Ensures PD&P systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards. Coordinates and interfaces as directed with the day-to-day technical work of PD&P engineers, scientists, specialists, designers, and drafters. Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to upper management. Facilitates technical discussions with third parties (client, suppliers, regulators). Prepares or oversees the preparation of PD&P design estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and manages implementation and performance accordingly. In this role, you will plan, develop, and review electrical engineering design work, produce drawings and documentation, and prepare design estimates for a project. This position is for a SmartPlant 3D Designer who will prepare electrical 3D designs as well as 2D electrical AutoCAD and SmartSketch designs to support new facility infrastructure design for DOD and USAF projects. Major Responsibilities: Plans, develops, coordinates, and reviews design work within a medium-size electrical design work group on projects of medium size or assignments in support of global business unit. Produces drawings and documentation in accordance with established design and scope including design of earthwork, drainage, road design, foundation, and steel detailing. Ensures electrical systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards. Coordinates and interfaces as directed with the day-to-day technical work of electrical engineers, scientists, specialists, designers, and drafters. Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to upper management. Facilitates technical discussions with third parties (client, suppliers, regulators). Prepares or oversees the preparation of electrical design estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and manages implementation and performance accordingly. Develops Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), and administrative practices. Coordinates with client representatives as delegated to obtain approval on phases of work. Reviews and approves key electrical engineering drawings and calculations and bid summaries. This role will support design development of electrical systems and equipment for the project by preparing models, drawings, and evaluations, in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements. The candidate will work with electrical engineers, junior designers, and other technical disciplines in a team environment with Job Responsibilities (include but not limited to): Supporting, coaching, and training less experienced designers. Modeling of electrical rooms, equipment, cable tray, conduit, conduit duct bank, lighting, receptacles, etc. In a Smartplant 3D model environment. Creating bill of materials and drawing installation details for the modelled items listed above in addition to grounding, lightning protection, support details, and other details using SmartSketch and AutoCAD. Performing calculations utilizing AGI 32 for lighting layouts and ETAP for ground grid layouts. Assist with coordination of 3D model activities, i.E. Input, interference reconciliation, etc. With other physical related disciplines. Responsible for physical design implementation by producing drawings of interior and exterior layouts/plans/elevation views of the raceway design (conduit/cable tray/duct bank), equipment location and layout, lighting layouts, lightning protection layouts, and grounding plans. Develop material specifications utilizing the software SpecsIntact. Coordinate with systems engineering department to establish and verify design/project requirements. Capable of independent creative design, with direction, using industry-proven concepts, and procedures. Ensures electrical systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards. Education and Experience Requirements: Level 1 Requires an AA/AS or Certificate in Engineering/CAD with 10-12 years of experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience. Must be a United States citizen. Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check. Level 2 Requires an AA/AS or Certificate in Engineering/CAD with 13-15 years of experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience. Must be a United States citizen.
