Job summary: Capacity & Laymor engineering team is looking for an individual contributor to join them in Longview, TX. The position is responsible for projects and assignments in the field of electrical and electronics that are complex in nature and that support, enhance product performance, durability, reliability, quality and serviceability. The individual must demonstrate an extensive knowledge and understanding of electrical engineering principles, concepts, practices and theories. Responsibilities may include research, design, component selection, development and testing of complex engineering solutions along with collaboration with other functional areas not only within engineering but also production and aftermarket. Responsibilities: * Responsible for designing low voltage (12-24V) electrical systems for Terminal tractor and Sweeper product lines. * Responsible for development of high voltage (400 - 800 V) architecture and components selection. Ensure system integration and compliance with industry standards. * Create schematics, harnesses, layouts and routings for several electrical systems using Solidworks Electrical. * Conduct load analysis of electrical systems to ensure vehicles meet the design requirements. * Assist in the creation of validation plans, define acceptance criteria and perform experiments. Evaluate existing validation controls, standard test procedures for effective risk mitigation. * Analyze test results, document and summarize test conclusions to improve truck applications. * Assist with the development of design guides, guide specifications and design control procedures. * Mentor junior engineers in electrical design decisions and identify areas of improvement. * Provide continuous support to production team during assembly phase of prototype builds. * Travel to vendors, customer sites and support field evaluations. Basic Requirements: * Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering plus 5+ years of experience OR * Master's or Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering plus 5 years of experience. * 3 years minimum power electronics development experience including design and analysis. * Translating customer and system level requirements into feasible design solutions. Top candidates will also have * Familiarity with design and troubleshooting J1939 Control Area networks (CAN), sensor data acquisition/ analysis, EMC test procedures & specifications. * Position will require sound knowledge of image processing, sensors, and radars integration and calibration in ADAS. * Experience with contactors, bus bars, pre-charge circuitry, current sensors and isolation detection. * Experience with Solidworks, Solidworks Electrical (must), AutoCAD. * Understanding of BOM creation, ECR, ECN, FMEA and ERP system (preferably Infor XA) * Must have excellent communication skills with ability to interface directly with hourly employees as well as management level of employees concerning new design initiatives and progress updates. * Must possess a high energy level with strong work ethics. * Must be proficient with the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power-point and Outlook). * Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization. * Ability and willingness to travel.
