Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Estimator / SeniorEstimator with experience in heavy civil and environmental construction. The ideal candidate will bring proven expertise in preparing competitive bids, analyzing project risks, and supporting operations on complex infrastructure projects. Experience with railroad bids is a plus. Strong technical proficiency with HCSS HeavyBid, Trimble Business Center, and Microsoft Project is essential.
This position offers the opportunity to contribute to high-value projects with a growing, well-established contractor. For the right candidate, this role may be structured as a primarily remote position.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare detailed cost estimates for heavy civil and environmental construction projects, including labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractor pricing.
Analyze drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare accurate and competitive bids.
Develop construction means and methods, project schedules, and bid strategies to ensure thorough and competitive proposals.
Coordinate and communicate with project managers, engineers, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers throughout the estimating process.
Utilize HCSS HeavyBid, Trimble Business Center, and MS Project for quantity takeoffs, cost analysis, and schedule development.
Prepare and present bid reviews to management, highlighting risks, opportunities, and recommendations.
Stay current with market pricing, labor rates, and equipment costs to maintain accurate databases.
Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations as required.
Support handoff of successful bids to operations and provide input during project start-up.
Mentor junior estimators and contribute to process improvement across the estimating team.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Experience: Minimum 5 years as an Estimator, Estimator/Project Manager, or related role in heavy civil or environmental construction.
Railroad Projects: Prior experience bidding to railroads is a plus.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in HCSS HeavyBid, Trimble Business Center, and MS Project required.
Strong understanding of construction methods, scheduling, and risk management.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment.

Your role
Full cycle (Estimate Plan to Basis) capital cost development for all classes of estimates including Conceptual, Order of Magnitude, Prefeasibility, Feasibility and Definitive class estimates as outlined by AACE International.
Strategic application of industry estimating methodologies and techniques to develop capital cost estimates within desired accuracy ranges while respecting project timelines.

You will lead the full proposal life‑cycle- reviewing RFPs, analyzing scope, building detailed cost models, and crafting winning strategies that balance speed‑to‑market with Tier III/IV reliability.
The Senior Automation Estimator - Critical Infrastructure will steward and continuously improve our estimating software stack and standard proposal templates while interfacing daily with engineering, procurement, construction, PMO, and business‑development teams to align scope, risk, and commercial strategy.

Tri-City Group is seeking a Remote Industrial Estimator to work from anywhere within the United States, based remotely. This position will be responsible for preparing detailed estimates for Industrial projects.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Attending pre-bid meetings to determine the scope of work and the required contents of projects
Reviewing proposed specifications and drawings to determine the scope of work and required contents of estimate; gathering quotes, printing drawings, counting, take-off estimating, and responding to RFIs and RFQs
Professionally interacting with customers, other trades, general contractors, and internal staff
Providing Construction Services with up-to-date CAD drawings; assisting with the assembly of shop drawings as per project requirements
Providing technical assistance, i.e., interpretation of drawings, recommending construction methods and equipment, etc., as required
Communicate with Project managers regarding bringing in other divisions, project closeout, following awarded contracts as assigned, and managing estimating extra work items, change orders, and credits
Qualified candidates will have experience in Estimating, cost control, and/or engineering
Travel up to 50% of the time
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's in construction, Electrical Engineering, or Construction Management, or completion of a five-year electrical apprenticeship program
Experience: Minimum of 5 Years of experience in Electrical Construction Estimating, Cost-Control, and/or engineering in an industrial or manufacturing setting such as automotive and equipment manufacturing, steel or aluminum casting and mills, chemical manufacturing facilities, food production facilities, water treatment facilities, etc.
Proficient in McCormick Estimating Software, and MS Office Suite, Outlook and MS Excel
Candidates must possess strong attention to detail, focus on accuracy, solid communication skills, positive initiative and judgment, the ability to problem solve and meet deadlines, and the ability to multitask with tact and consideration.

This position will be responsible for all aspects of Cost Estimating and Program Controlling from Advanced Quotes through Program Hand-off for floor production. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Key partner to the Advance Quote team and Program Management team
Business partner to Program Management team and plant operations on key performance indicators
Work with sales, engineering, purchasing, and operations teams to ensure timely and accurate response to customers' RFQs
Accountable for timely and accurate business case support
Tracking financial performance from Cradle to Grave to ensure the business have high visibility at any time during its life prior to plant Hand-off
Maintain cost cards, APR's, & cost walks on post-award programs.
Calculate cost impact of engineering change requests.
Analyze and monitor business cases and provide management teams with financial walks for various level of reviews.
Be the go-to-person for specific programs
Drive appropriate actions to be taken in a timely manner by promoting financial awareness in the business among all functions
Strong engineering or manufacturing sense to challenge continuous improvements in productivity and cost/investment optimization
Provide business plan (APR) and analysis for all program capital appropriation request (PAR)
Direct the preparation of annual budget and long range plans for the in-charge programs
Learn all aspects of Facton. This should include maintaining master files, BOM, costing, investments, setting sell prices, developing APR's, and performing overall sensitivity analysis.
Collaborate with plants on capacity, efficiency, cycle times and manning.
Coordinate cost reviews with plant management and all key team members.
Maintain costing database including raw materials, purchased parts, labor/burden rates, CAPX, tooling, etc.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Auto Industry related majors.
3+ years of experience in costing or product engineering or program controlling.
3+ years of experience working in a manufacturing operation. Either Textiles or Automotive.
Strong Microsoft Office Skills. Excel, PowerPoint. Power BI would be preferred.
Experience with Facton, preferred.
Experience with ERP systems. Plex & QAD. Knowledge of master files & part / product structure.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written; strong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to rapidly assimilate knowledge of processes and systems.
Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to manage multiple assignments and projects with varying deadlines.
