Job Description:
The University of Florida seeks a Research Scientist (12-month, non-tenure track faculty appointment in the Anita Zucker Center for Excellence in Early Childhood Studies, AZC) to work closely with project investigators to advance new and ongoing research enterprises within the mission and vision of the Early Childhood Policy Research Group housed at the AZC. The Research Scientist is expected to play an integral role in current extramural awards, while collaborating with center investigators and affiliated faculty/staff to build a portfolio of independent and collaborative research incorporating AI and Machine Learning research methodology into the study of influences on child and family outcomes. The Anita Zucker Center for Excellence in Early Childhood Studies is an interdisciplinary center of faculty, staff, and students dedicated to translating science to action through innovative research, professional development, and community partnerships that support all young children from birth to age five and their families. The Sunshine State Early Childhood Information Portal (The Sunshine Portal) is a comprehensive resource for early childhood data in Florida. The Sunshine Portal is a pioneering Early Childhood Integrated Data System designed to provide vital information from across the early childhood mixed delivery system. This data system includes information from health, education, financial, and social support sectors. The Early Childhood Policy Research Group (ECPRG), in collaboration with state and local agencies, leverages this data system to conduct research to enhance the well-being of young children and families across Florida. Through the Sunshine Portal, the ECPRG communicates research findings, providing in-depth data and visualizations at the community level. These insights into the lives of children and families are used by local, state, and national early childhood stakeholders. The Research Scientist position will entail two primary responsibilities: (1) establishing and advancing their own portfolio of extramurally-funded research in collaboration with ECPRG-affiliated faculty, staff, and students and (2) as a co-investigator on the Sunshine State Early Childhood Information Portal, the Research Scientist is expected to lead the development and implementation of advanced machine learning research methodologies; provide mentorship and guidance to project personnel to build additional capacity in advanced research methodology; and assist PIs and project staff in the development of dissemination products. Required Qualifications:
An earned doctorate in education, psychology, research methodologies, or a related field
Outstanding oral and written communication skills, ability, and experience authoring scientific journal publications and/or technical reports.
Demonstrated experience contributing to the design of research projects and writing of research proposals.
Expertise in the development and utilization of advanced machine learning methodologies applied to large-scale, early childhood datasets.

FWC is seeking a motivated, collaborative individual with the skills and enthusiasm to serve as the Florida Shorebird Alliance (FSA) Coordinator. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant contribution to conservation of shorebirds in Florida. The FSA is a statewide network of partners focused on conservation of shorebirds and seabirds (shorebirds) in Florida. The FSA Coordinator is directly responsible for leading the partnership network and supporting the agency's mission.
The FSA Coordinator cultivates an active network of partnerships including volunteers, local governments, land managers, and conservation professionals to achieve monitoring and management goals for imperiled shorebirds in Florida. The FSA Coordinator participates in FSA Partnership meetings, serves as a key member of FWC's shorebird program, and supports several internal teams focused on the program's strategic efforts. Beyond the network of local partnerships, the position has opportunities for engagement with regional and national efforts to conserve beach-nesting birds.
The FSA Coordinator is responsible for creating content for external communications through various forms including presentations at partnership meetings, newsletters, social media campaigns, media responses, and the FSA website. This position also supports the program through internal communications including facilitating, leading, and participating teams, leading essential program staff meetings, and maintenance of shared libraries.
The FSA Coordinator works with FWC communications staff, biological experts, the data team, and program leads to post relevant media content on social media pages, responds to media inquiries, and identify new platforms and create new content to amplify and expand the FSA and shorebird conservation mission.

Position Overview and Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will serve as an OPS Biological Scientist I within FWC's Fish and Wildlife Research Institute, Wildlife Research Section / Reptile, Amphibian, and Terrestrial Invertebrate Research Subsection. Their primary duties will be to assist staff scientists with ongoing research projects focused on rare and at-risk species. Specifically, the selected candidate will assist with ongoing research focused on at-risk dragonfly conservation, though there may be opportunities to assist with other tasks/projects. This is a predominantly field-based position and, as such, will require working outdoors in various and often unpleasant conditions that may include: heat, cold, rain, high winds, and exposure to stinging/biting insects (including ticks and mosquitoes). This position will require frequent travel throughout north-central/northeast Florida to access study sites and will sometimes require working weekends and holidays. No overnight travel is anticipated. This is a seasonal, temporary position not expected to exceed four months. Anticipated start date: March 6, 2026.
Specific duties include but are not limited to:
Collect biological, ecological, and environmental data using standardized protocols.
Operate radio telemetry equipment to monitor wildlife populations.
Safely operate 4WD vehicles to access study sites.
Perform other associated tasks as needed.

Position Overview and Responsibilities:
This is a full-time position with a potential for health benefits that is funded by state and federal funds with the Shellfish Research Group at the Fish and Wildlife Research Institute. The position will be stationed in the Crystal River, Florida area. This position will serve as a member of an independent team responsible for carefully following established protocols to conduct field operations for blue crab, stone crab, blue crab, and other shellfish projects in the North Central region. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Participating in monthly field sampling efforts which involve: construction, maintenance, and deployment of various field sampling gear; following safety protocols while on the boat, and in particular, if participating in SCUBA diving operations; conducting benthic and pelagic sample collection, sorting, dissection, and preservation; maintenance of vehicles, vessels, and trailers.
Adhering to the standard field operating procedures of multiple monitoring and research projects to include but not limited to blue crab, stone crab, and oysters.
Processing laboratory samples which involves: following sampling and quality assurance/quality control protocols; processing live animals and time-sensitive samples in a timely manner; conducting chemical and biochemical analyses including safe handling of a variety of chemicals; handling live and preserved animal specimens as well as dead specimens in varied states of decay. The High Energy Theory group at the University of Florida (UF) invites applications for a postdoctoral research position to start in the Fall of 2026. The appointment is initially for two years, with a possible extension to a third year, subject to the availability of funds. The research interests of the group include beyond Standard Model phenomenology, dark matter, cosmology, and gravitational waves. The UF particle theory group includes Professors Jeff Dror, Yohei Ema, Rachel Houtz, Pierre Ramond, Pierre Sikivie, Richard Woodard, and Wei Xue. As a group, we host a weekly external seminar series and occasional particle theory workshops.
The successful candidate will join the Institute for Fundamental Theory at UF, which facilitates discussions with other groups working in theoretical research in the department. The Physics Department at the University of Florida boasts a number of faculty members working in related fields, including dark matter detection (ADMX, ALPS, SuperCDMS), experimental particle physics (CMS, Belle II, DUNE), gravitational wave detection (LIGO, LISA, NANOGrav), theoretical astrophysics, and condensed matter physics. It also provides access to the world-class HiPerGator research computing center.

The Biological Scientist II will perform research in the laboratory of Dr. Barry Byrne, MD, PhD in the Department of Pediatrics - Child Health Research Institute (CHRI).
Duties will include: Animal Studies: Handling mice for setting up timed matings, weaning animals and maintaining rodent colonies. Will participate in treating animals with pharmacological agents or AAV vectors either through i.p., i.m., or i.v. injection. Other duties with the mice may include doing echocardiography, sensory and motor function, force mechanics, and metabolic studies. Collecting organs and other tissue and embedding the specimens for sectioning or for molecular analyses. Molecular techniques and analysis: Molecular cloning, Plasmid purification, Primer design, RNA and DNA isolation, isolating RNA and performing real-time PCR, and PCR genotyping of transgenic mouse lines. Participate in in vitro studies exploring novel vectors in various cells. This may include expansion/maintenance of cell lines and analysis of transfection/infection. Performing protein analysis by isolating protein of interest from cell or tissue lysates and performing/analyzing western blots. Project Management and Data Analysis: Coordinate the ordering of supplies in advance of experimental need, assist in supervising or directing the work of laboratory personnel, assist in teaching or advising work of laboratory personnel in laboratory methods and/or procedures, assist in directing/coordinating/organizing laboratory activities; upholding laboratory safety policy compliance of all members working in the laboratory, assist with regulatory compliance (EHS, IACUC, etc). Compiling experimental data for presentation in various formats (GraphPad, Excel, etc). Performing various tasks as assigned.
Expected Salary:
$46,000 - $52,000 annually; commensurate within this range based on qualifications and experience.
