Using modern programming languages and technologies, this Intern - Software Engineer will develop code, primarily in C#, in support of our innovation for grid optimization as it relates to electric vehicles, photovoltaic systems, batteries, and other devices. Duration
40 hours per week during summer 2026. The target start is May/June, and the internship concludes August/September, depending on student's academic schedule.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Design and execution of code in C# to support product integration
Participate in product design reviews to provide input on integration of functional requirements, product designs, and forecasting
With support, analyze and decompose complex software systems and collaborate with and influence others to improve the overall design

Position Summary
The System Integration team is looking for an experienced software engineer with a passion for quality and a strong foundation in performance testing, networking concepts, and test automation. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with various teams from product marketing to development engineers. The role will involve performance testing as well as test design and automation of TMOS and F5OS applications. An ideal candidate will have experience or knowledge in these areas. The person in this role will be working as part of a US multi-site team that values strong collaboration and support of our teammates in a diverse and inclusive environment, leveraging AI to enhance productivity and foster creative problem-solving.
Primary Responsibilities
* Experience in handling performance regression and debugging failures to find product bugs.
* Works both independently and with principal engineers to develop high-quality test automation that verifies system level features.
* Emphasis in this position will be in traffic automation design and automation.
* Executes, analyzes and evaluates test results, reports and assists in resolution of product issues.
* Participate actively in code review process; posting reviews; incorporating feedback along with reviewing automation submitted by other team members for adherence to coding standards
* Develops expertise in features and components of the product to understand how to design test automation to verify the feature.
Knowledge and Skills
* Experience with developing Python-based test automation frameworks to validate F5 BIG-IP or F5OS products preferred. Background in TMM a plus.
* Solid understanding of software quality methodologies and processes.
* Expertise with container technologies (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker, etc.)
* Experience with CI/CD and project management tools (e.g. Git, Gitlab, Jira, Bugzilla, etc)
* Experience with RESTful API development, JSON, and microservice architectures.
* Able to collaborate and thrive in a fast-paced high-performance environment.
* Knowledge of IP networking: routing, switching, and network standards from layer 1 through the transport and application layers.
* Strong organizational skills, analytical skills, attention to detail and excellent problem solving/troubleshooting skills.
* Strong networking knowledge, working knowledge of HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP required.
* Ability to balance multiple projects as once in a high paced environment
Required Qualifications:
* Experience working with TMOS or F5OS.
* Masters or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent field or work experience.
* Experience in writing traffic automation using industry-standard traffic generators such as Ixia.
* Experience in the testing and/or development of computer software.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Preferably in the Linux environment using Python.
* Track record of building automation scenarios that validate product requirements and execute customer scenarios with reliability and stability.
* Experience working with geographically dispersed teams preferred.
* Work experience in performance testing is a plus.

The annual base pay for this position is: $161,600.00 - $242,400.00
