This Sr. Power Systems TestEngineer completes variety of technical jobs for Customers and provides applied electrical engineering and technical expertise for customers in the areas of power systems studies, power quality analysis, installation, startup, maintenance, and repair.
Responsibilities
Complete Sr. Power Systems Field TestEngineer duties including but not limited to:
Inspect, test, troubleshoot, commission, start-up and collect data for control circuits, instrumentation, and high voltage equipment (up to 765kV).
Test Power Circuit Breakers, moderate complex relays, and metering.
Program, test, calibrate electro-mechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor protection relays.
Rotate emergency on-call duty and if called respond to customer emergencies in a timely manner.
Assess results and prepare written report of findings, proposals, and improvement solutions.
Perform/review electrical design improvements primarily to support upgrades of electric utility substation systems in conjunction with client specific standards and requirements.
Work alongside customer representatives on-site to review and identify their needs.
Utilize Engineering skills, methodology, and applicable standards to implement electrical systems that are safe, dependable, and cost-effective.
Mentor other Techs, Engineers as directed.
Provide technical support and quality control for assigned projects.
Proficient in reading and accurately interpreting power system schematic and wiring diagrams including single-line and three-line drawings.
Must be able to work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures.
Solid theoretical understanding of electricity and a good aptitude for problem solving.
Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with customers and peers.
Dependable and responsible with good judgment and organizational skills.
Good customer service, time management and follow-up skills.
Work effectively with customers, peers and management to resolve client issues.
Work will require overtime and regional travel.
All work and decisions shall be conducted in strict compliance of all regulatory laws.

Required Experience and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in related field or experience equivalency and a minimum of 5 years related experience.
Previous NETA Certification is preferred; recertification will be expected.
Previous professional experience in electrical power utility testing, commissioning projects is preferred.
Experience with SEL and other protection software is preferred.
Strong communication skills (written and oral) in technical topics.
Self-management of assigned projects and job cost accountability to perform work within budgeted cost estimates.
Interpret specs to our customer requests to design technical solutions.
Ability to run projects unassisted.
Familiarity with of various industry standards such as: NETA, NEC, OSHA and NFPA.
Must be able to work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures.
Able to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks.

Job: Full-Time
Location: US-Nationwide
Travel: 75% travel.
Compensation: Pay ranges from $55 to $75 (depending on skillset, certification, and experience) per hour and eligible for overtime. Daily meal and incidentals per diem available when traveling for overnight work.

Regularly perform audits on items such as quality checks, documentation, run conditions, and lock detectors. Communicate results and monitor for trends.
Conduct online and inventory product audits based on process performance and customer complaints. Perform AQL sample inspections on incoming components, raw materials, production processes, and finished products including Imports, when necessary.
Participate in checking-in import containers and updating database. Pull and inspect import product samples per AQL inspection (or other) requirements, when necessary.
Prepare certificates of conformance, certificates of analysis, and any other inspection documentation required by customers, accurately and in a timely fashion.
Perform or participate in assigning disposition of nonconforming product and other aspects of the Hold process.
Plan, organize, analyze, and review PPAP's as needed to validate process changes and/or new products prior to being released to production. This may also include completing layout inspections, developing sampling plans, testing product, analyzing data, or completing necessary paperwork.
Effectively utilize the Presto Quality databases for PPAPs, Holds, CARs, and supplier defects. Analyze for trends and publish findings.
Responsible to comply with SQF and/or GMP practices, as specified at the individual plant, and programs to ensure safe food packaging product and to report food safety problems to those with authority to take action. Establish, maintain, and audit compliance to plant GMP's, in accordance with regulatory and customer requirements. Create and distribute monthly GMP audit reports and monitor corrective actions. Participate in 3rd party GMP and/or SQF audits, when requested.
If assigned, lead the HACCP team and manage the HACCP program, developing, implementing, and maintaining a food safety plan to control and assure food safety. If assigned as a HACCP team member, participate in the development, implementation, and review of the HACCP plan to ensure food safety for the facility.
If assigned as SQF Practitioner, oversee the development, implementation, review, and maintenance of the SQF System, including food safety fundamentals and the food safety HACCP plan. Ensure the integrity of the SQF System, in part through validation and verification activities. Communicate to personnel as necessary to ensure effective implementation and maintenance of the system. Validate changes to food safety fundamentals and food safety plans that have an impact on the ability to deliver safe food. If assigned as SQF Practitioner back-up, fill in as the site's SQF Practitioner when necessary.
Understand the product withdrawal / recall process, and effectively assist in mock recalls as well as any actual recalls or product withdrawals.

This position requires 6+ months of training on a Domestic Assignment to **Pax River, MD and Rancho Bernardo, CA.** After training is completed, it is expected that the candidate will be available to deploy to **Japan, Italy, United Arab Emirates, or Guam** for a minimum of **24 months** , based on current business needs. The international location will be selected by Northrop Grumman after training is completed and will be based on timing and available location(s), determined by business needs. Deployment benefits will be communicated once a location is selected. If no immediate international or Guam deployment location is available, the candidate may be relocated to work at one of our core U.S. locations for the immediate future.
The FSR will be embedded with a US Navy unit and be the system subject matter expert, providing training on the system hardware and software, as well as supporting the sailors in the unit with system operations, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance. The Navy's intent is for sailors to be the primary operators and maintainers of the system, with the FSR providing training/assistance as needed to keep the system fully mission capable. The FSR will have reach-back/liaison support from Northrop Grumman Responsible Engineering/Development/TestEngineering teams.
**Sr. Principal System TestEngineer responsibilities include:**
+ Interfacing with NGC and customer Flight Engineers, aircraft maintenance Technicians, US Navy service members, and Subsystem SMEs in order to sustain operations.
+ Primary interface between maintenance, design and flight testengineering.
+ Vehicle and Payload Test Controller (VTC/PTC) operations during aircraft start-up/shut down for launch and recovery, conduct static ground tests, and troubleshooting.
**Essential Functions:**
+ Responsible for providing inputs to update Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMS).
+ Reviews/provides inputs during engineering development and executes Detailed Test Requirements, Acceptance Test Procedures, and Ground Test Plans.
+ Installs, operates, troubleshoot, maintains, repairs, and modifies equipment, in accordance with IETMS and/or other engineering directives (TDs/ECRs/TEIs/AMRs/MAFs).
+ Perform a variety of Organizational / Depot-level maintenance and technical support on products such as equipment, integrated systems and subsystems, and software at customer and/or field locations.
+ Develop general knowledge of all aircraft systems, VTC/PTC, Engineering Design and software. Perform field integration, troubleshooting, and repair of air vehicle systems at the customer location including operations on a flightline, or in a hangar.
+ Ability to interpret and trace electrical and Air Vehicle schematics. Perform essential electrical and RF troubleshooting using equipment such as but not limited to: Multimeter, Network/Spectrum Analyzer, Oscilloscope, Time-Domain Reflectometer (TDR), etc.
+ Able to perform/support review and analysis of engineering schematics, supplier design data, support of functional test requirements including acceptance, qualification, and system integration on the Air Vehicle.
**Basic Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor of Science Degree in Science, Technical, Engineering or Math (STEM)
+ A minimum of 8 years of engineering experience with a BS Degree, 6 years engineering experience with a MS degree in STEM Field, or 4 years with a PhD in STEM Field
+ Willingness and ability to successfully complete required training in Pax River, MD and Rancho Bernardo, CA.
+ Willingness and ability to support an international assignment in Japan, Italy, United Arab Emirates, or Guam for a minimum of 24 months. The location will be selected by the Company and the selection will be based solely on business needs.
+ Willingness and ability to relocate to a core U.S. location, if necessary, based on business needs.

+ Ability to support a new and/or extended assignment at a company selected international or Guam location after the initial 24-month assignment.
+ Active DoD Top Secret clearance that is in-scope or currently enrolled in CE
+ Previous Unmanned Air Vehicle system test or maintenance experience is highly desired. MQ-4 Vehicle Test Controller or Triton BETTIE operator experience is preferred.
+ Aircraft Test or Lab Test experience is highly desired.
+ Experience with equipment to test and troubleshoot aircraft systems.
+ Experience with loading data and configuration files to aircraft assemblies.
Primary Level Salary Range: $113,500.00 - $170,300.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. - Leads testing and startup team for basic to moderately complex instrumentation, controls and related systems independently with minimal supervision. Responsible for testing and startup documentation completion and quality assurance filing.
- Independently develops basic to highly complex operations & Maintenance manuals for designed instrumentation, controls and related systems.
- Independently develops systems training for end users.
- Leads teams of more junior staff and provides direction and mentoring. Reviews the work of junior staff as necessary.
- Under general supervision, prepares proposal sections and presentations.
- Performs other duties as required.

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or in Engineering Technology or related discipline. Professional engineering (PE) license.
- 7 years of related experience.
