The speech and language pathologist implements patient care services for patients with speech, language, fluency, voice, swallowing, and cognitive disorders. The speech and language pathologist accurately assesses patients' needs; identifies and initiates appropriate speech and language therapy interventions; provides patient and family teaching; and works cooperatively with other patient team personnel to maintain standards of professional speech and language therapy practice.
Qualifications:
Required:
Graduate of an accredited program of speech-language pathology
Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) in Speech Pathology from the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA).
-OR- Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) with completion of Certificate of Clinical Competency within three months of completing Clinical Fellowship Year.
Current State Board of Speech-Language Pathologist licensure.
BLS certification.
Preferred:

This position is responsible for managing the Summer Specialty Clinics (SSC), a summer day-camp for children ages 3-14 who need speech-language therapy, which requires comprehensive planning, implementation, and oversight of all clinical, administrative, financial, and educational aspects of the SSC, ensuring a supportive, inclusive, and safe environment for campers, families, students, faculty, and staff. In addition, this position serves as a Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) Master Clinical Educator, providing on-site clinical education to undergraduate and graduate students in classroom, clinic, and simulated learning environments. This role includes evaluating and supervising students delivering preventative, diagnostic, consultative, and treatment services for individuals across the lifespan. This position functions under the direct supervision of the Director of Clinical Instruction and Speech-Language Pathology Services (or a designated representative) and may supervise graduate assistants and student employees as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
Possession of a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP).
Possession of a current Michigan license in Speech-Language Pathology.
Three years of professional experience as an SLP, working with both pediatric and adult populations.
Experience providing clinical instruction to undergraduate and/or graduate students.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications
Clinical supervisory experience with demonstrated competence in educating speech-language pathology students.
Expertise across a range of communication and swallowing disorders (infant through geriatric).
Experience integrating interprofessional education and practice.

Duties & Responsibilities
Summer Specialty Clinic (SSC) management:
Plans, develops, and manages programming, timelines, and materials for the SSC.
Oversees financial operations including revenue, expenses, sponsorships, camper scholarships, and grant proposals.
Recruits, hires, trains, and supports SSC faculty, staff, and student workers.
Manages camper application and enrollment process, including database management, communication with families, and scholarship awards.
Coordinates orientation, training, and ongoing support for student clinicians and MCEs.
Ensures camper and clinician safety through policies, health protocols, and incident reporting.
Orders, organizes, and distributes camp materials (i.e. brochures, calendars, visuals, T-shirts, sensory kits, first aid supplies).
Fosters positive relationships with CMU departments, schools, and community stakeholders.
Communicates regularly with families, donors, and external partners to promote SSC opportunities and sustain engagement.
Presents annual reports and updates to internal and external stakeholders.
Clinical Education oversight:
Provides clinical education in on-site, telepractice, and simulated settings.
Evaluates and treats clients while monitoring follow-up care.
Supervises and assess undergraduate and graduate student clinicians.
Coordinates student placements at off-campus sites or as graduate assistants.
Teaches or co-teaches academic courses (CSD 494, CSD 495, SLP 749, or others as assigned).
Attends departmental, clinical, and university meetings as appropriate.

Summary:
Assumes full responsibility for evaluating patient's need for speech therapy. Plans and executes individual treatment programs in accordance with ASHA and SLP scope of practice. Keeps treatment skills upgraded through continuing education, evidence based research, and program development. Perform job responsibilities in accordance with the program's strategic objectives and goals to carry out organizational strategic objectives.

Establishes treatment goals in collaboration with patient and family as appropriate, and in collaboration with the treatment team. Treatment goals should be interdisciplinary and patient-centered whenever possible. Establishes written treatment plan, and administers treatment for each patient according to the stated goals. Delegates responsibilities to Speech Assistants as appropriate.
Re-evaluates patient's status and effects of treatment. Revises treatment plan as necessary. Reviews revised goals with patient and family as appropriate.
Evaluates patient's need for medical equipment and orders the appropriate equipment as necessary. Evaluates equipment upon delivery and instructs patient, patient's family, and health care workers on its use.
Participates in planning for patient discharge by considering and communicating with patient, family, community support/services, and environmental limitations.
Demonstrates competence in relevant software and hardware required to meet job responsibilities. (Q)
Documents patient's status and progress through initial evaluation, progress notes, and discharge summary according to established internal/external time standards and adherence to reimbursement guidelines. (Q)
Communicates with others to integrate speech language pathology services with all aspects of patient care. (Q,S)
Participates in conferences/discussions as needed and exchange of written records with other interdisciplinary team members to integrate speech language pathology treatment plan.
Instructs the patient and the family in speech language pathology procedures as part of providing patient and family education including written instructions as necessary.

Essential Job Qualifications (Knowledge, Education, and Training Requirements):
M.S. or M.A. in Speech Pathology granted by an accredited university program.
Licensure with the State of Michigan.
Holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology.
Possesses and maintains BLS certification to meet department/program protocol.
Membership in ASHA.

A Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) administers speech therapy to patients on an intermittent basis in their place of residence. This is performed in accordance with physician orders and plan of care under the direction and supervision of the Administrator/Clinical Manager. Speech therapy services are furnished only by or under the supervision of a qualified speech pathologist or audiologist.
Provides a full range Speech Language Pathology Services as ordered by physician.
Periodically participates with all other home care personnel in patient care planning
Takes initial history and makes initial evaluation, performs all skilled procedure
Consults with physicians regarding change of treatment, writes reports to physicians regarding patient's progress
An initial evaluation, including a plan of treatment and goals, must be completed and submitted to the physician for approval. A recertification by a physician every 60 days is necessary if further treatment is to be continued. A progress note is written each visit. A reevaluation is written when the expected duration of treatment is reached. A summary is written upon patient's discharge.
Required Qualifications
A Master's or Doctoral degree in Speech Language Pathology and is licensed as a Speech Language Pathologist by the state where they furnish service
Knowledge of medical terminology required
Reliable transportation and valid automobile insurance coverage
Desired Qualifications
Two (2) years' experience as a Speech Therapist preferred. Home Health experience preferred

The Speech/Language Pathologist provides competent, courteous and respectful evaluation, treatment and supervision of patients for difficulties in communicating, problem solving, cognitive processing and swallowing and scope of practice as outlined by ASHA and licensure laws in respective state; communicates with families, physicians and other healthcare team members while maintaining impeccable, professional documentation of services in the medical record. The Speech/Language Pathologist also conducts in-services and training for facility staff on an ongoing basis in restorative and functional maintenance programs. This position reports to the Therapy Program Manager and ultimately the Director of Operations. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
Evaluate Patients for rehabilitation services within 24 to 48 hours of physician's orders.
Develop effective treatment plans.
Treat patients according to the treatment plan of care.
Communicate with Physician, Clinical Managers and other health care team members, patient and/or family and facility staff any pertinent information concerning patient's progress, problems and plans.
Participate in Care Conference Meetings and Interdisciplinary Team Meetings.
Participate in in-service training programs for other staff in the facility.
Record evaluations, treatment notes, progress notes, provide objective input for discharge summaries and complete daily billing of services per policy and procedure.
Instruct patient's families or nursing staff in maintenance programs.
Participate in discharge planning.
Achieve or exceed the minimum productivity standard established by CRI.
Recommend any needed equipment to the appropriate personnel which would facilitate improved delivery of clinical services.
Report any problems with department equipment to appropriate personnel.
Act as a clinical supervisor for affiliating Speech/Language Pathology Graduate Clinicians for area Universities and Colleges.
Comply with state specific Speech Pathology Licensure Standards.
Maintain an organized working environment.
Consistently portray the mission, vision, core values, cornerstones and professional image of Concept Rehab, exercise good judgment in the performance of the job.

The SLP Master Clinical Educator schedules their assigned caseload each semester. This position may also be involved in planning and implementing collaborative programs on and off-campus that involve clinical experiences, service learning, and/or programs of community engagement. The SLP Master Clinical Educator may also provide direct clinical services to the community on a twelve-month basis. This position functions under the direct supervision of the Director of Clinical Instruction and Speech-Language Pathology Services or a designated representative. This position also exercises supervision over student employees as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree. Possession of an ASHA Certification of Clinical Competence: Speech-Language Pathology ( CCC - SLP ). Possession of a valid Michigan SLP license. Three years of professional experience as a Speech-Language Pathologist with pediatric and adult populations. Three years experience in the diagnosis and treatment of cognitive-communicative disorders across the lifespan. Experience providing clinical instruction to undergraduate and/or graduate students. Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications
Clinical supervisory experience and demonstrated evidence-based competence in clinical education of speech-language pathology students. Position Summary:
The Home Health Care Speech Therapist will be a contingent position that provides services for home care clients who have speech and language problems. Services are provided under the direction of the attending physician with the participation of the family and other members of the interdisciplinary team, as indicated.
Required Experience:
Meets the education and experience requirements for Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in speech pathology or audiology granted by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or has completed the educational requirements for certification and is in the process of accumulating the supervised experience required for certification.
Is certified to practice Speech-Language Pathology.
Has a minimum of one (1) years' experience in a health care facility or equivalent experience.
Current CPR certification, as applicable.
Responsibilities:
The Home Health Care Speech Therapist will perform speech therapy assessments, diagnostic tests, skilled procedures, and ongoing evaluation for clients who are receiving services under a medically approved Plan of Care.
Completes initial assessments within forty-eight (48) hours of referral unless other arrangements are made.
Completes comprehensive assessments including OASIS data set within forty-eight (48) hours of referral for speech therapy services unless other arrangements are made.
Develops a therapy care plan to provide direction to other health team members involved in the plan of care. Reviews and updates per Agency policy and client need.
Documents all findings, plans, interventions, and outcomes and submits documentation to the Agency within seven (7) days or per Agency policy.
Performs other duties as assigned.
General Working Conditions:
This position entails standing for long periods of time. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to communicate effectively with others, sit, stand, walk and use hands to handle keyboard, telephone, paper, files, and other equipment and objects. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to review detailed documents and read computer screens. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The work environment requires appropriate interaction with others. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. Occasional travel to different locations may be required.
