JOB PURPOSE:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Complete evaluations, assessments, and treatments in accordance with policy and the individualized care plan and within established timelines.
• Helps maintain continuity of care by collaborating with the interdisciplinary team and attending physician to develop, integrate, and manage the patient care plan of care, making referrals to other disciplines as needed
• Demonstrates knowledge of home care and competency in discipline for specific patient care skills, required for the provision of care
• Recognize and respond to priorities in patient care with initiative and sound judgment.
• Assist with training/orienting others.
• Utilizes accepted company teaching materials in patient/family education
• Report any alleged or suspected violations to supervisor and/or others until the issue is resolved.
• Complies with corporate compliance program
• Meets agency productivity standards and utilizes time and resources effectively and efficiently
• Participates in center/agency surveys (Licensure/Joint Commission), mandatory in-services, case conferences, staff meetings, and programs (e.g., Performance Improvement Program) as required

Nemours Children's Hospital, Delaware (formerly Alfred I. du Pont Hospital for Children), is hiring a Casual Speech Pathologist (SLP) to provide coverage as needed in our inpatient programs located in Wilmington, DE. Coverage needs include weekends.
This is a great opportunity to join a busy and growing Therapy team. We provide speech and feeding evaluations and therapy for patients with a wide variety of diagnoses, ranging in age from birth to 17. We are also an early intervention partner with Delaware's Birth to Three Early Intervention Program, providing clinic-based services.
Provides discipline specific patient examination, evaluation, intervention, documentation, parent/caregiver education, communication, and coordination of care with medical/clinical staff and outside agencies as appropriate within the discipline specific scope of practice and the guidelines designated by the department and the Delaware Valley policies and procedures. Actively participates in departmental education activities in order to expand knowledge of patient populations and evidence-based practice.
Demonstrates proficiency in the care of all ages: pediatrics and adolescents. Demonstrates proficiency in the care of neonates as required by assignment.
Able to provide speech-language pathology services to a variety of patient types with recognition of his/her own limitations while seeking appropriate opportunities for discussion and resources as needed.
Completes timely documentation as required by departmental policy #7980.3.3, Joint Commission, and CARF standards.
Attends meetings related to patient treatment and contributes to discussion as an interdisciplinary team member.
Consults with other services, families, and outside agencies to recommend durable medical equipment, home/school modifications and transitional therapy program prior to discharge from therapy.
Maintains knowledge of and familiarity with insurance referral/authorization process and documentation requirements related to therapy services.

When required by assignment, participates in weekend/holiday inpatient coverage rotation.
Job Requirements
Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or its equivalent from an ASHA-accredited university required.
Minimum of three (3) to six (6) months experience required. New graduates will be considered based on educational experiences.
State of Delaware Speech Language Pathologist License required upon hire.
All clinical staff are recommended to hold a second license in PA or NJ (in addition to DE license).
Pennsylvania clearances are required upon hire for those with a Pennsylvania license.

This is a great opportunity to join a busy and growing Therapy team. We provide speech and feeding evaluations and therapy for patients with a wide variety of diagnoses, ranging in age from birth to 17. We are also an early intervention partner with Delaware's Birth to Three Early Intervention Program, providing clinic-based services.
Provides discipline specific patient examination, evaluation, intervention, documentation, parent/caregiver education, communication, and coordination of care with medical/clinical staff and outside agencies as appropriate within the discipline specific scope of practice and the guidelines designated by the department and the Delaware Valley policies and procedures. Actively participates in departmental education activities in order to expand knowledge of patient populations and evidence-based practice.
Demonstrates proficiency in the care of all ages: pediatrics and adolescents. Demonstrates proficiency in the care of neonates as required by assignment.
Able to provide speech-language pathology services to a variety of patient types with recognition of his/her own limitations while seeking appropriate opportunities for discussion and resources as needed.
