Position Overview
Aptive is seeking skilled Sterile Processing Technicians to provide high-quality sterile processing services at the New York Harbor Healthcare System (VA NYHHS), Manhattan Campus. This role ensures the sterilization and high-level disinfection (HLD) of reusable medical equipment (RME) for surgical, dental, and hospital-wide procedures.
Hours Call Outs:
The services covered by this contract shall be furnished by the contractor as required, on call 7 days per week, 24 hours per day. The VAMC shall not pay any additional compensation to the contractor for overtime expenses incurred by its performance of this contract. Sterile Processing Technicians will be scheduled to work 8-hour shifts (plus ½ hour break), for up to 40 hours Monday through Friday each week, or on weekends as needed, not to exceed 60 workdays in 3-month period.
Monday - Friday between 12:00pm - 8:30PM excluding holidays (Employee can work 60 days within 3 months or 120 days max in 6 months and the Employee can only work 240 days every 24 month.)
Primary Responsibilities

Reprocess (disassemble, clean, decontaminate, assemble, sterilize, and store) critical and semi-critical RMDs, including surgical instruments, trays, and flexible endoscopes.
Adhere to manufacturer instructions, VA directives, ANSI/AAMI ST79 standards, IAHCSMM guidelines, and OSHA regulations.
Utilize decontamination and sterilization equipment, software (e.g., Censitrac), and VA computer systems to document work.
Apply aseptic principles and techniques for sterilization, including selecting appropriate detergents, cleaning methods, and sterilization mediums.
Understand and maintain surgical instruments, reusable medical devices, and patient care equipment.
Ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 standards and VA SPS/Infection Control policies.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a High School or GED. 1- 2 years Central Service or Surgical Processing. Demonstrated knowledge of all medical and surgical equipment and supplies within a hospital setting and the ability to identify items and ensure accuracy against catalog listing of surgical instruments and equipment. Familiarity with a variety of surgical equipment, including but not limited to: dental, optometry/ophthalmology, orthopedics, neurosurgery, gastroenterology, ENT, GYN, cardiology, dermatology, urology, podiatry, and general surgery.

THE OPPORTUNITY AT HAND
We are seeking a detail oriented and experienced Sterile Processing Technician to join our surgery center team. You will be responsible for decontaminating, sterilizing, and preparing surgical instruments, trays, and equipment used at the Center.
