The Medical Supply Technician is responsible for performing a full range of sterilization, decontamination, and distribution of reusable medical equipment and supplies. Duties & Responsibilities: Decontamination & Sterilization: Receive and inspect contaminated instruments from various medical units (OR, dental, endoscopy, clinics, etc.). Disassemble, clean, and disinfect instruments using ultrasonic cleaners, washers, and decontamination agents. Monitor sterilization equipment, such as steam autoclaves, hydrogen peroxide gas plasma units, and high -level disinfecting reprocessors. Ensure all items meet manufacturer's instructions for use (IFU) and VA standards. Assembly & Quality Assurance: Assemble and package surgical trays, medical instruments, and endoscopic devices. Perform functionality checks and quality control testing (e.g., leak tests, biological monitoring). Verify sterility indicators and maintain accurate sterilization records. Storage & Distribution: Stock sterile supplies using first -in, first -out (FIFO) inventory management. Deliver sterilized instruments and medical equipment to clinical units. Follow infection control guidelines and adhere to VA safety protocols. Technical Proficiency & Compliance: Maintain compliance with VA, Joint Commission, CDC, ANSI/AAMI, and AORN standards. Participate in quality audits and performance improvement initiatives. Utilize electronic tracking systems (e.g., Censitrac) for inventory management. Compensation Details: Hourly Pay Rate (Taxable): $28.00/hour Overtime Pay Rate (Taxable): $42.00/hour Weekly Travel Stipends (Non -Taxable for Eligible Travelers): Up to $1820.00 Total Weekly Gross Package: $2,940.00 Estimated Total Contract Package (52 Weeks): $150,800.00 Requirements Education & Certification: Certification from HSPA (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association) or CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution). Preop/PACU Registered Nurse at Lakewood Endoscopy Center: Under the direct supervision of the Pre-Op/PACU manager, the PACU nurse is responsible for implementing all physician orders, providing for the continuity and quality of nursing care for all patients, with continual evaluation of the patients'' condition, providing patient safety, comfort, and privacy at all time. At times, assist the physicians in the procedure rooms with various tasks, conscious sedation and utilizing sterile technique as deemed appropriate. Responsible for providing total comprehensive patient care to patients emerging from general anesthesia and/or sedation. Responsible for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient and family in preparation for discharge. Applies judgment in determining the priority level of instrumentation and equipment requests for a specific specialty service line or shift. Recommends scheduling of procedures based on equipment and instrument needs to ensure effective patient flow. 3. Coordinates with department staff in assuring service line priorities are met and completed in a timely manner. 4. Possesses in-depth knowledge of service line/shift and precepts new employees at all levels regarding service line with respect to specific issues, troubleshooting and training to include Competency Achievement Plan signoff 5. Oversees assigned service line in a competent and professional manner. Investigates, proposes solutions, follows through with issues from various department staff such as sterile processing, OR, core support and hospital supported areas to ensure safe effective patient care. Inventories instrumentation and trays for service line and orders appropriate replacements or additional depending on usage. Collaborates with OR Manager on the number of tray/sets and instruments needed, making recommendations to inventory levels to meet changing demands. 8. Incumbent assists the Operating Room and other areas in the procurement of medical supplies, instruments, and sterile processing issues. Internal customers are other company staff, physicians, patients, visitors, managers, and executives. External customers are vendors, patients, visitors, other facilities, and non-company medical facilities. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge. Requires national certification as a SPD Technician (CSPDT) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST).
