As a Substance Abuse Counselor you'll engage with your patients with individual, group, and/or family counseling. You'll work with a collaborative treatment team consisting of our Medical Director, Program Director, Treatment Services Coordinator, Counselors and Nurses to identify and meet the clinical needs of the patient and to assist in their overall well-being.

Essential Functions:

PRIMARY FUNCTION of a part-time Certified Substance Abuse Counselor:
Provide individual and group counseling as a Substance Abuse Counselor for designated youth in Elk Hill's Residential programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide and document weekly individual substance abuse counseling for residents; Provide and document weekly group substance abuse counseling for residents
Provide documentation/session notes of all counseling services within the Credible software program on a weekly basis
Conduct initial assessments and re-assessments of clients as directed/assigned
Help participate in service planning meetings for each residential youth, as needed or required. Conduct and construct service plans for each youth in residential services regarding their substance abuse goal/objective only
Receive documented routine clinical and administrative supervision regarding services from the Residential Clinical Director (LMHP)
Help to obtain and maintain all applicable documentation required by licensing and/or Medicaid in the provision of services
Provide to the Residential Director, Program Director, or Residential Case Manager documentation for presentation at agency FAPT and CPMT meetings when a client's case is being reviewed
Be communicative and coordinate with residential group home staff and supervisor regarding their schedule to see residents ahead of time and any necessary information to be shared
Demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of clients, flexibility, a non-threatening manner, respect for clients' autonomy, confidentiality, socio-cultural values, personal goals, lifestyle choices, and appropriate professional boundaries and ethics
Develop and maintain positive relationships with referring agencies, social workers, court service personnel, parents, other licensed mental health professionals and all other persons involved in the resident's services
Work cooperatively with all Elk Hill staff to improve the quality of the whole organization
For CSAC-E/CADC-E: Provide all documentation required by Department of Health Professionals to clinical supervisor in a timely fashion for completion. Submit all required supervision paperwork to Department of Health Professionals as required. Receive routine, as outlined within the parameters for eligibility of certification, clinical and administrative supervision

QUALIFICATIONS:
A bachelor's degree in human services; and
Provide documentation of 240 hours (CSAC), 300 hours (CADC) of education in substance abuse counseling, including a minimum of 16 hours in each of the following 13 areas from one of the following programs:
A regionally accredited college or university; or
Seminars or workshops from one of the approved providers and in the core content areas listed in 18VAC115-30-50
120 of the required 240 hours must be completed prior to registration of supervision

Position Requirements:

Under direct supervision, the Family Partnership Meeting Facilitator, facilitates FPMs for CPS, In-home, Foster Care and Adoptions. The facilitator is responsible for scheduling, preparing (including interviewing), facilitating and documenting FPMs in a timely manner.
The Family Partnership Meeting Facilitator plays a crucial role in coordinating and leading state-mandated Family Partnership Meetings (FPMs). FPMS serve as a platform for collaboration between families, community partners, service providers and the agency. This position is dedicated to actively engaging and supporting families involved in the child welfare system, ensuring their voice is heard and access to necessary resources.
Family Services Specialist I represents the entry level employees working under close supervision while being trained in program areas such as, Adult/Adult Protective Services, Child Protective Services, Foster Care/'Adoption, Child Care, and Employment Services. Employees perform routine- to journey-level casework activities and the casework usually is reviewed by the supervisor prior to implementing a case action. Upon completion of the training program and attainment of necessary approvals, the employee shall be redefined to a full-performance Family Services Specialist II and becomes eligible for a pay increase as defined by the local agency compensation plan. The Family Services Specialist I is distinguished from the Family Services Specialist II by the latter's functioning more independently as a full performance Family Services Specialist.
The facilitator also helps to train new staff about FPMs, equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to support families effectively and navigate the complexities of the system. Through these efforts, the Family Partnership Meeting Facilitator helps foster a more inclusive and supportive environment for families in need.
This position is essential. Personnel occupying this position may be scheduled to work regardless of weather conditions and/or when general County offices are closed. While typical office hours are expected, employees must be flexible in meeting the needs of the family's schedules.
Special Duties & Responsibilities

General Description of Work:

Documents regularly scheduled on-site mental health consultation with staff, children, and families.
Assists the Program Health Specialist to ensure Head Start and EHS parents are afforded opportunities to obtain mental health screening results for their children served by the Head Start and EHS program.
Participates in meetings with teachers and parents to explain the Devereux Early Childhood Assessment and how to accurately reflect a child's social and emotional development.
