These services may include non-medical counseling, training/health and wellness presentations, consultation with parents, personnel at child development centers, and consultation to installation command regarding behavioral health issues affecting children and youth. CYB counselors will be assigned to child development centers, youth programs, summer camps, and on demand assignments. The counselors work closely with the installation and military branch Points of Contact (POC) to assure that the program is provided within scope and meets the needs of the installation. Provides non-medical, short-term, solution focused counseling directly to eligible children and youth of service members at assigned primary and secondary locations. Services include assessment, brief counseling and consultation, action planning, referral to resources (assuring linkage as appropriate), and follow-up as indicated. CYB counselors will also have a focus on supporting the staff and personnel of Child Development Centers (CDC), youth programs and summer camps (if available/assigned) as well as providing parent support, training, and guidance. LifeStream is a behavioral health and social services organization that provides high-quality treatment, education, care management, rehabilitation, child welfare, primary care and homeless services to children, adolescents, and adults. Located in Central Florida, LifeStream primarily serves the residents of Lake, Citrus and Sumter Counties, with additional programs located in Orange, Marion, Hernando counties. BEHAVIORAL SPECIALIST - TASC 030 JOB SUMMARY: The Behavior Specialist (Non-BA) is responsible for providing intervention services in the form of screening, assessment, group and individual sessions with court ordered consumers. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES: The Behavioral Specialist shall perform the following responsibilities without limitation at whatever location they are assigned. * Perform outpatient intervention counseling * Perform emergency screenings, assessments, interventions as needed * Be knowledgeable of the Marchman Act * Facilitate didactic group sessions * Maintain open communication and respect with referral sources * Promote substance abuse education in the community * Adhere to intervention protocol as addressed in Chapter 65D-30 * Assist in networking resources and referral services for consumers * Maintain center records in accordance with stated policies and procedures. * Maintain consistency and accountability in consumer/contract reporting requirements. * Maintain current all staff development requirements for this position. * The ability to comply with the regulations requiring a workplace of dignity and respect and equal employment opportunity compliance. * The ability to work collaboratively with others and to accept constructive criticism from supervisors and managers. * Willingness to abide by the company's published rules and regulations EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Education: * Valid High School Diploma or GED. Experience: * Two years' experience working in the substance abuse or related field TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT: Completes all requirements according to Individual Training Plan within the first six months of hire and annually. Other training and/or professional development may be assigned due to evolution of programs.
