This role involves assisting with the preparation, execution, and post-procedure care in the operating room, ensuring patient safety and the efficient operation of the surgical team. Essential Functions Assist with the preparation of the operating room for surgical procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment and instruments are available. Act as scrub technologist during surgical procedures, working directly with the surgeon and circulating nurse. Maintain accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments, ensuring patient safety. Assist with patient positioning, considering body alignment, circulation, and pressure points. Assist physicians and anesthesia personnel as needed during surgical procedures. Work with the anesthesia department with stocking and ordering anesthesia supplies as needed. Participate in the turnover of the OR in a timely manner. Assist Central Sterile Processing as needed. Practice and monitor aseptic techniques to prevent infection and contamination. Participate in the surgical time-out process per facility policy to ensure patient safety. Review and update physician preference cards as needed with the supervision of the Clinical Manager. Clean and prepare instruments and equipment after use, returning them to the proper area for storage or processing.
