What you will do:
Identifies and obtains the required surgical instrumentation, equipment and supplies required for surgical procedures based on physicians request and the needs of patient; exchanges drug trays as needed under the direction of licensed medical staff. Inspects, properly cares for and handles surgical instrumentation and equipment appropriately.
Performs scrub responsibilities according to physician's preference and hospital policies and procedures. Anticipates, and is attentive to, the surgeon's needs for instruments, ligatures, sponges, irrigation, etc. during the surgical procedure.
Demonstrates the skills necessary to provide a safe environment and communicate effectively with all age groups of patients - pediatric through geriatric.
What you will need:
Graduate of an approved surgical technology program
Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association
Previous experience in surgery or on-the-job experience
Certification in surgical technology preferred

Major Responsibilities:

Experience Required:
Typically requires 2 years of experience in a Surgical Technologist position.

Completion of a suturing class approved by supervisor.
Proficient in all surgical specialties with expertise in a minimum of two.

This includes attending weekly associate safety committee meetings, greeting all new hires for the site or through daily one-on-one interaction. Additionally, the OMR will participate in weekly case management review meetings as necessary.
As an OMR, you will independently assess and administer first aid as well as offer guidance to Client Associates (AAs) on both occupational and non-occupational injuries or illnesses. You should be passionate about learning and advocating health and wellness principles to consistently support AAs on a daily basis. You will refer care to outside medical providers as needed, and learn about OSHA regulations, risk, and analysis.
The OMR will function as a part of the larger team onsite, assisting with all first aid needs and support safety operations as needed.

Minimize the AA risk of injury through awareness, education, and proactive engagement.
Maintain all records of care provided to AAs.

Summary of Role
The Surgical Technologist, under minimum supervision, performs a variety of duties in the department as a member of the surgical team and duties as assigned by management. Must have the ability to scrub on all cases performed at The Orthopaedic Surgery Center. Responsible for the set-up and maintenance of sterile field. Assists with the opening of the supplies/equipment for surgical cases.
Requirements:
Key Responsibilities
Set-up required operative fields, arranging instrumentation, equipment and supplies on the mayo and back table(s) as appropriate for the assigned case according to the surgery center policies and the surgeon preference card.
Work in the role as surgical assistant, such as selecting equipment, positioning of the patient, sterile prep of the surgical site, will assist during the surgical procedure by holding retractors, suction, cauterizing, placing dressings, and assist with skin closure under the direction of the physician.
Prepare for the next day's scheduled procedures, as assigned, by pulling cases, by using surgeon's preference cards to assure that all necessary supplies, instruments and equipment are available. Labels cases and prepares “needs list” accurately.
Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and other members of the surgical team.
Handle specimens appropriately, per surgery center policies and procedures.
Demonstrate care of delicate instrumentation by proper handling and storage of instruments used on assigned cases.
Prepare clean and contaminated instruments and supplies utilized in the surgical suite for transport and transport these instruments and supplies to Decontam for processing and sterilization.
Assist with disinfecting, cleaning and preparation for sterilization, any instruments, equipment and supplies utilized at the surgery center.
Surgery center suite maintenance including case preparation, turn-over, and terminal cleaning.
Inventory control and stocking of supplies.

Major Responsibilities:
Provides for a clean, safe and efficient area conducive to optimal patient care. Utilizes aseptic surgical techniques in the preparation of materials, supplies and equipment for surgical procedures (e.g., assistance with gowning and gloving; preparation and draping of the surgical area; provision of a sterile field, instruments, suture and related materials; anticipation of the Surgeons' needs; passing of instruments and/or supplies; holding of retractors, observing and reporting possible breaks in aseptic technique; and assisting in maintaining a sterile, dry, unobstructed field).
Performs all types of procedures and maintains basic knowledge of a variety of procedures.

This includes setting up the room for each case including moving equipment (i.e., tables, cameras, microscopes, fracture table, and instrument pans), operating the various types of equipment used during operating room procedures, and returning equipment post procedure.
Functions as a Second Assistant as necessary.

Maintains a specialty cart or item, ensuring its completeness and availability. This includes checking the working condition of equipment, sterility, and sending damaged items out for repair.
