Requirements MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent. Graduation from a school of Surgical Technology preferred. CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: BLS certification required prior to end of probationary period. SKILLS: Knowledge of care and handling of instruments and equipment. Knowledge of sterilization and cleansing procedures. Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally in English. EXPERIENCE: One year experience in an acute care hospital setting in the operating room or an instrument care environment preferred. NATURE OF SUPERVISION: -Responsible to: Manager, Surgical Services ENVIRONMENT: - Bloodborne pathogens - C Employee will be instructed in Universal Precautions and Right to Know. Employee will be expected to utilize all protective equipment available whenever there is a potential for exposure to infectious materials or hazardous chemicals. Cleaning, repair and replacement of this protective equipment will be furnished by the hospital.
