Being a swim instructor, you will be provided the training to teach swim lessons to children and adults, starting at 3-months old, following the British Swim School aquatics program that is gentle, fun, and progressive.
You will be assigned to a class schedule developed by manager(s) and interact with swimmers, and parents and/or guardians.
Your Typical Responsibilities:
Reports directly to and supports the Aquatics Manager
Instructs swimming lessons in accordance with British Swim School training and program standards, maintaining certifications throughout employment.
Work a flexible schedule that may include evenings (3pm-7pm), weekends (8am- 1pm), and holidays as required by business needs.
Work in an environment where noise levels are usually moderate to high and be in the water for the duration of the shift.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma, equivalent, or in the process of completion.
Enthusiastic personality.
Flexibility be able to thrive on ambiguity
Comfortable in and around the water. Strong swimming skills are a plus but can be taught and developed!
Must maintain certifications throughout the length of employment.
Must complete all required British Swim School Aquatics-specific training and testing.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with children.
Swimming experience: 1-2 years preferred but not required.
Customer service skills: 1 year preferred
Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED Certification(s) preferred (but can be obtained during training)

Stress proper techniques and maintain a safe environment for each level of swim lesson. Experience working with children and/or adults in small groups. Work with youth in a group setting and on an individual basis to teach specific skills. Enforce all established pool rules during and in-between lessons.
TYPICAL CLASS ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Provide swim instruction to students of all ages and abilities in a positive, fun, learning environment.
Stress proper techniques and maintain a safe environment for each level of swim lesson.
Be a positive role model for respectful behavior and problem-solving strategies
Work with youth in a group setting and on an individual basis to teach specific skills.
Enforce all established pool rules during and in-between lessons.
Prepare lesson plans to correlate with participant level and level being taught.
Fill out progress reports properly prior to the last day of lessons including positive/encouraging comments.
