    General Description To provide meaningful educational experiences to the children assigned to the classroom. Under immediate supervision, the employee has the responsibility to provide reports/documentation regarding the families and children assigned to them, and decisions are made on a routine level. He/She has daily contact with the families participating in the program and on occasion, with the general public. The employee is responsible for supervising one (1) employee (ie: the Assistant Teacher). Employee must abide by the Texas Education Agency, Minimum Standards for Child-Care Centers, Head Start Performance Standards, and other Program Policies and Procedures. Examples of Work Performed Provides daily interaction and supervision to the children in his/her care. Provides the children a developmentally appropriate environment conducive to learning. Maintains a clean, safe, and healthy environment for children. Maintains open and frequent communication with parents in regards to their child's progress and program activities. Plans and develops written weekly lesson plans with the assistant teacher and other teachers as appropriate for the implementation of instructional program in accordance with program standards, and other requirements. Administers, interprets, and utilizes the results of assessments/screens for planning and delivering individualized instruction. Collaborates with the assistant teacher and the teacher as appropriate to utilize assessment data to organize large groups, small groups, and individualized instruction. Prepares and submits administrative reports as scheduled, including form 1535 from USDA food program. Attends and participates at A.R.D. meetings. Implements the I.E.P. for children with special needs. Maintain accurate documentation on the children in their care. Provides opportunities for Family Style Service during meal times as applicable. Conducts a minimum of two (2) Home Visits per year per child. Plans and conducts Parent/Teacher conferences as needed. Assists in planning and attends monthly parent committee meetings. Assists in recruiting children for the program. Attends training workshops as assigned by the Education Area Director and/or the Campus Director. Adheres to the requirements of the Confidentiality Policy of the Program. Reports all suspected cases of child abuse/neglect to the proper authorities immediately. Directs the Assistant Teacher in classroom activities. Attends First Aid and CPR and any other training as required to comply with TDFPS Child Care Minimum Standards and Performance Standards. Adheres to policies and procedures and Civil Service Commission Rules as required. Will be subject to re-assignment from one campus to another as needed. Must comply with Civil Rights Law. Adheres to the requirements of the Texas Education Agency. Collaborates with the local Independent School District personnel to provide high-quality education and comprehensive services. Performs other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or Executive Director. Education and Experience Must have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field and coursework equivalent to a major relating to Early Childhood Education. Major Responsibilities and Duties: Instructional Programming 1. Develop and implement lesson plans for in-person, distance, and virtual learning that fulfill the requirements of district's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required. Coordinate and execute all district and state testing 12. Train campus staff in appropriate district and state testing procedures including the use of testing and date programs. 13. Coordinate and monitor the implementation of testing accommodations for all special population students. 14. Monitor local and state testing to ensure all regulations and rules are followed. 15. Responsible for the organization, implementation, verification, collection, and distribution of materials for all assessments. 16. Adhere to testing procedures and deadlines. 17. Ensure coordination efforts between Special Education, LPAC, 504 and RTI Committees on testing program requirements. 18. Identify, investigate, and address testing irregularities. Report discrepancies and disciplinary actions taken against students as required. Communication 19. Be available by phone, email, or video conferencing to confer with district personnel, students, and/or parents. 20. Communicate with students or parents on a regular basis via phone or video conference, email, or district approved website. 21.
