Requirements: Registered Nurse in the state of employment Prior experience with chemical addiction and/or mental health disease including psychopharmacology. CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation) certification Minimum of one (1) year experience working in substance abuse and/or mental health field. The ability to triage in an emergency, assisting in medical emergencies. Preferred Three (3) years of experience with chemical addiction and/or mental disorders including psych pharmacotherapy. Responsibilities: Screen and assess each patient for co-existing medical problems to assess risk factors affecting appropriate placement for treatment. Administer medication/treatments as ordered in accordance with state and federal regulations. Ensure that adequate recording of the medication administration transaction has occurred. Ensure that the treatment plan of the physician and/or medical director is followed. Facilitate and educate patients in a group process to include chemical dependency issues, infectious disease, medical and mental health issues. Administer, interpret, and keep accurate documentation of Mantoux test for teammates. Assess patient response to treatments and medications, interactions, and effectiveness. Document and summarize individual nursing care for each patient and communicate changes, progress, and/or immediate medical care needs to the provider for follow-up consultation. Orders medical supplies, maintains a proper inventory and record of use as per Regulations Maintains all medical records including individual charts, daily medication charts, dosage records, progress notes, doctor's orders, etc., as required. Makes appointments for patients to see physician; obtains lab workups and checks with patients to see that appointments are kept. Counsel's patients regarding personal hygiene, abnormal lab results, HIV/AIDS testing, and all medical matters including changes in treatment. Discusses with physician and team important changes in treatment or noted patterns of behavior affecting treatment. Provides referral for specialized care at local health centers (e.g., Planned Parenthood, prenatal clinic, HIV/AIDS testing sites, etc.) and follow-up on patients' attendance and treatment. Assists in organizing transfers of patients to and from different levels of care. Assist in training teammates in medical conditions, responses, and patient care. Maintain continuing education credits as required by the Board of Nursing Attend team meetings and complete all training courses timely as required. May assist the doctor during physical examinations. Keeps medication room clean and orderly; maintains medical equipment. Attend team meetings and complete all training courses timely as required.
