Key Responsibilities
Loading, hauling, and delivering food waste on intra- and interstate routes with multiple stops ranging from 15-25 per day by routing determined by the Company.
Delivery equipment ranges from 30-45' open-top dump trailers (combination vehicles) across a regional footprint determined by management.
Operate manual and automatic transmission vehicles by DOT requirements as well as all local, state, and federal laws.
Operate manual or electric pallet jack as needed.
Utilize a pressure washer to rinse bins and containers and leave all client locations clean and free of debris.
Perform pre- and post-trip inspections.
Typical use of hand tools for basic repairs of company bins and equipment.
Maintenance of basic truck equipment and overall cleanliness of equipment.
Utilize the electronic logging system for DOT driver logs and as otherwise required.
Maintain paperwork (contamination and service tickets, truck maintenance, etc.) and submit all documentation to the appropriate party.
Regularly communicate with customers and vendors to ensure seamless operations.
Communicate with the corporate office/operations team regularly for all service, equipment, and customer service-related issues.
Report all accidents and injuries immediately to the safety manager.
Ability to work flexible hours based on seasonality, up to 60 hours in a 7-day week or 70 hours in 8 days.
Attend and participate in weekly safety calls, trainings, or briefings.
Basic usage of computer and cell phone for training, communication, and expense management
Regardless of any regularly scheduled service route assignment, drivers may at any time be scheduled to work a different assignment, including interstate routes. All drivers should expect operating in interstate commerce as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Class A CDL License (self-certified as a Non-Excepted Interstate driver with the state of issuance)
Clean MVR and PSP
Must be at least 23 years of age and have a minimum of 2 years full-time verifiable tractor-trailer experience OR 21 years of age with 1 year of tractor-trailer experience IF a graduate from a Truck Driving School or 1 year of Military experience.
Stable work history
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
Physical Requirements:

Our Drivers are the first and last Active Day employee that our members interact with each day. Drivers operate and maintain mobility buses, providing safe, courteous on- and off-boarding assistance, and timely transport to and from our centers. Drivers escort members door-to-door in all weather conditions, provide transportation for field trips, take members to medical appointments, and run errands for the center. All team members are expected to lead by example, maintaining a positive attitude; being a thoughtful, supportive, productive and dependable co- worker; keeping our members safe; and always working to enhance the health and happiness of the people we serve and those who care for them.
Job Responsibilities
Conduct daily vehicle inspections and follow prescribed maintenance and fueling schedule; confirm wheelchair lifts and tie down equipment are operating properly. Notify supervisor of mechanical or safety concerns and report repair or service needs as they occur. Maintain vehicle cleanliness.
Routinely exchange recommendations and insight with coworkers to ensure best practices for accommodating unique needs of members during on-boarding, off-boarding and transport.
Assist members with on- and off-boarding and with any special needs during transport. Confirm members are securely fastened in vehicle and transport in a timely manner.
Maintain vehicle information, including route, mileage, fuel and service records.
Maintain and secure company property, including vehicle, phone and fuel cards.
Communicate in a positive, courteous and professional manner with members and their families, co-workers, referral agencies, and the community at large.
Deliver information to family members as requested.
Report issues, concerns or unusual occurrences to the lead driver, transportation coordinator or center director.
Comply with company policies and procedures, safety and regulatory laws and standards.
Assist transportation coordinator and/or center director in identifying and implementing operational efficiencies to enhance the member experience.
Other duties and responsibilities as changed or assigned at any time.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 21 years of age.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Able to multi-task and manage time effectively.
Prior experience working as a driver preferred but not required.
Valid driver's license and state/vehicle-specific driver credentials.
Prior experience working with seniors and/or adults with special needs preferred.
Able to work a flexible schedule.
Able to push, pull, bend, turn, pivot, transfer and lift up to 50 pounds; able to routinely andrepeatedly exit and enter the vehicle to assist members with on- and off-boarding.
Able to pass required physical exams including Department of Transportation (DOT) exam.
Successful results of background check, motor vehicle report, drug testing and any otherstate-specific requirements.
Knowledge of local geographic area preferred.
Where applicable, certifications such as CPR, First Aid, and Passenger Assisted Safety &Sensitivity (PASS) are required and will be facilitated as part of job training.
