Major Duties and Responsibilities 1.Shall submit his/her personal goals and objectives as they relate to the basic program goals and objectives; job description and IEP of students for the current year. 2.Teach LH students in a special day class such portions of basic educational program as are in keeping with individual limitations of each pupil's IEP: place major emphasis on a consistent developmental learning curriculum with a positive, behavioral framework using the adopted curriculum. 3.Work with the IEP Team in assessing and developing student learning objectives and instruct and evaluate (verified by current established checklists) each student in the learning area. 4.Provide appropriate creative learning experiences based on IEPs in: a) self-help and health, b) psycho-motor training, c) language and communication, d) social behavior, e) academic skills, f) career/vocational skills. 5.Plan and conduct field trips to reinforce the concepts taught in the classroom. 6.Provide continuous supervision and direction for children assigned to classroom. 7.Provide proper student control and suitable classroom environment that creates a positive atmosphere for the learning of the individual child. 8.Provide constant supervision for the welfare and safety of pupil under his/her direction and is responsible for correctly filing all accident reports for pupils. 9.Contribute to and implement new ideas, materials, and techniques suitable to group and individual needs based on IEPs, staffings, and ancillary staff and Curriculum Consultant input. 10.Revise IEPs jointly with legally mandated members of the annual review team (including parents) and keeping parents informed at all times of progress. 11.Work closely and cooperatively with the Program Specialist/Special Education Coordinator, Site Administrator, Speech Specialist, Nurse, School Psychologist, Community Agencies, and parents to help provide a complete program for the individual pupil. 12.Communicate with and supervise the aide under his/her direction regarding curriculum needs and other duties. 13.Be sensitive about confidential matters concerning children, parents, school and working relationships, responding to those in a professional manner. 14.Adhere to guidelines established in the Central Unified School District Handbook for Teachers of Special Education and the employee/employer contract. Other Duties and Responsibilities 1.Make regular entries in anecdotal records, on curriculum checklists and other reports as required. 2.Adhere to schedules and duties assigned at school site. 3.Participate in scheduled inservice training meetings and take advantage of workshops, conferences, etc., to provide for professional growth. 4.Provide daily schedule and lesson plan. 5.Organize and maintain a neat, uncluttered, sanitary, safe, and esthetically appealing classroom.
