Job Description Position Purpose: Hydraulic Modeler will be responsible to develop, operate and maintain the hydraulic models within the Engineering Department. Incumbent will coordinate with the corporate master planning department to assist in the development and updating of master plans for the Business Units in the Mid-Atlantic Region. Work will generally be focused on updating models, running operational scenarios, suggesting operational improvements, and documenting models and results. It is expected that engineering resources will be shared and the candidate may work on other engineering projects as assigned. Primary Duties/Responsibilities: Responsible for developing, operating and maintaining the hydraulic models within the Engineering Department. Hydraulic Modeler will assist in the design and management of a variety of capital projects including tanks, pump stations, wastewater, and water main replacement. Responsible for developing analysis and reports to be provided to regulators, internal or external customers as required. Field work at various facilities. Prepare cost estimates. Prepare summaries of model results. The incumbent supports Veolia's commitment to safety by complying with the programs regarding health, safety and protection of the environment. The position demonstrates safe work practices, takes part in safety meetings, and advises supervisor of any non-conforming conditions. Other Tasks as assigned. Work Environment: Work will take place in the office, in plants, and in the field. Qualifications Education/Experience/Background: Bachelor's degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or similar. 1 to 5 years of hydraulic modeling experience. Utility experience preferred. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of the principals of hydraulic modeling. Knowledge of MS Office, AutoCAD, WaterGEMs, and ESRI suite of software. Knowledge of data collection, manipulation, and use. Excellent analytical, organizational, computer and interpersonal skills. Abilities to set daily priorities and work schedules. Ability to interface with all levels of staff and management. Exercise discretion and independent judgment. Required Certification/Licenses/Training: Professional Engineering License or EIT certificate is a plus. Must have an interest in gaining knowledge of engineering principles and an understanding of subsurface and surface equipment and operations.
