RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES - Veterinary Technician Assistant • Assists the Veterinary Technician (VT) in preparing clients for medical, surgical, and dental surgeries, by assisting in the administering of anesthesia and properly restrains the animals as needed for examination and treatment • Effectively partner with the Veterinarian and Veterinary Technician (VT) Teams to administer proper patient triage protocol based on the client and facilities needs and capabilities in a fast paced and effective manner • Help to coordinate operational duties that facilitate the work of the Veterinarian, Animal Care Attendant (ACA), and Groomers - all who provide patient care and client service • Collects specimens for laboratory testing, manages samples for in-house and outside lab testing, and ensures that test results are recorded in patient charts for labs including, but not limited to fecal, heartworm, skin scrapings, urinalysis, fungal cultures, and blood draws • Assists with administering radiographs, EKGs and EEGs • Monitor patient health, physically and behaviorally, and rapidly identify any issues or changes that may require special action and report the information to the supervisor immediately, through properly monitoring the vital signs for all animals under the care of the clinic for hospitalization • Aid Veterinary Technicians (VT) with booked appointments, walk-ins, and work-ins, including recording observations/treatment plans in the patient file, and aid in the performance of medical treatments under doctor supervision • Support the Veterinary Technician (VT) Team by admitting and discharging patients under the advice and plan of care drawn up by the Veterinarian and communicated to the client through client education, both written and verbal, on proper wound care, wellness protocol, vaccination expectations, illness, medication dosage, the purpose of the medications prescribed, and what to expect in the coming days after a surgery • Work with the Veterinary Technician (VT) to prepare and present treatment estimate to the client and properly invoice the client once the plan of care is agreed upon and documented in the patients' chart • Partner with the Veterinary Technicians (VT) to maintain an appropriate inventory of all medical supplies as determined by the inventory control system in all exam rooms and surgery areas • Provide consistent and on-going support to the Veterinarian and Veterinary Technician (VT) Teams as needed and maintain a positive and cooperative relationship with other facility staff • Maintain facility cleanliness and sanitation standards by organizing product, keeping the staff areas clean and organized, vacuuming, dusting, mopping, washing/drying of facility laundry, washing patient dishes and discarding of trash/waste materials on a continuous basis to meet the CityVet policies • Facilities & Equipment Officer • Complete all tasks as assigned by supervisor CAREER DEVELOPMENT Opportunities for career advancement include, but are not limited to: • Veterinary Technician • Certified Veterinary Technician RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES - Client Service Specialist Greet and welcome all clients entering the clinic by opening the door, checking patients in for their appointment, notifying the clients of any appointment delays, care for clients during their wait and alerting the staff of the client's arrival Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the reception area, lobby and entry ways at all times Answer multiple line phone system using proper phone etiquette to check clients in, follow-up on appointments or complete no-call/no-show follow-ups with clients Manage appointment check-ins, book new appointments and partner with the team on proper discharge information for: grooming, clinic, walk-ins, technician appointments, boarding and retail appointments Complete daily visit preparation and confirmation calls for next day appointments to ensure effective and efficient client check-ins Understand, communicate, and properly prioritize scheduled appointments, client education and lobby triage by vaccine, wellness, parasite and retail needs to ensure an efficient and productive schedule and daily workflow Accept payments, make change, process credit payments and other forms of payment while maintaining an accurate cash drawer by reconciling the cash drawer throughout the day Maintain accurate and updated client information and pet records in EzyVet, including obtaining pet medical records from other clinics and provide administrative support (scanning documents, updating records, faxing, emailing, etc.) to keep accurate and reliable client information QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS • Unwavering interpersonal skills • Ability to follow directives and plan of care established by Veterinarian, even if there are differing treatment opinions • Exudes confidence and decisiveness while practicing • Displays critical thinking ability and active listening skills • Strong verbal and written communication abilities • Extremely detail oriented • Ability to remain calm and empathetic in stressful/emergency situations • Maturity, good judgment, and professional demeanor • Self-driven, takes initiative, working with minimal supervision and direction • Strong physical stamina to remain on your feet for longer periods of time • Able to work nights and weekends, as needed • Availability to work weekends & holidays • Ability to demonstrate and uphold CityVet's core values REQUIREMENTS • High school diploma or GED • Lift 50 lbs to waist height • Understanding and ability to properly and safely restrain animals • Knowledgeable on veterinary medical terminology and medication • At least 1 year of veterinary industry experience • Frequent standing, bending, walking, lifting, carrying, and reaching • At least 18 years of age at the time of hire

Under direct supervision, responsible for the maintenance of all animal habitats, to include cleaning all habitats; feeding, walking and bathing animals; and cleaning laundry and dishes. Point of contact with citizens and adoption program.•Responsible for the daily, on-going, and as needed basis cleaning of all animal habitats; maintaining animal habitat areas (inside and outside) by cleaning and sanitizing animal kennels; removing litter and debris; sweeping, mopping, and cleaning windows; and removing trash and cleaning dog yards of waste.•Maintains and communicates inventory and supply needs as well as maintenance issues to supervisor. Keeps inventory of food, chemicals, and other supplies current and stocked at all times.•Responsible for conducting animal adoption interviews, paperwork, and follow-ups. * Makes appointments for and transports animals to veterinarian facilities. * Responsible for the general care of animals, e.g., feeding, cleaning kennels, walking, and grooming. * Assists the general public in directional and procedural inquiries, assists office personnel with receiving animals, and answers the telephone. * Updates the website and social media with adoptable animals and event highlights. * Evaluates animal temperament, performs evaluations on adoptability, and provides disposition recommendations to the manager. * Works alongside volunteers and communicates regularly with the Outreach Coordinator on shelter updates. * Responsible for continued monitoring and reporting any observed health or behavior changes of the animals directly to the manager. * Required to assist with and/or perform animal euthanasia. * Responsible for administering medications and vaccinations as required; keeping detailed logs of the medical needs of the animals. * Responsible for updating staff of any medical changes or needs of the animals. * Participation in both on and off site events. * Operates various types of office equipment. * Adheres to departmental, personnel, and safety policies and procedures. * Informs supervisor of all work activities. * Performs other duties as assigned.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: * A High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) is required. * Must possess a valid Texas driver's license and driving record must be in compliance with Town policy. EDUCATION: * Must complete and pass a certified animal euthanasia course within 120 days of hiring date. PHYSICAL ABILITIES: * Must be able to see, talk, hear, read, and write. * Must be able to lift, kneel, sit, squat, bend, stand, and stoop. * Requires firm grasping, wrist/arm extension and rotation on a frequent basis. * Ability to safely handle, walk, transport, and restrain animals up to 100 lbs. using appropriate procedures and equipment. * Must be able to work in adverse environmental conditions to include fumes, dust/mist, noxious odors, chemical, solid waste substances, animal feces, urine, saliva, and the sight of blood.KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES: * Must have a general working knowledge of computer operations (data entry) and general office procedures. * Must have excellent English communicative skills, both oral and written, to include spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
