With Dr. Tripp joining us this summer, we've strengthened our medical standards, aligned our values, and rekindled the culture that makes veterinary medicine meaningful. In December, we welcome Dr. Kessler, and next fall we'll add a new K-State graduate, completing a refreshed, passionate medical team that is ready to elevate the level of care we provide to the Lawrence community.
Now, we're looking for experienced veterinary technicians (registration not required) who want to be part of something special-a team that's rebuilding, growing, and redefining what exceptional preventive care looks like.

Associate Veterinarian (Full Time or Part Time)
Spay and Neuter Kansas City 3.6
Veterinarian job in Kansas City, MO
COVID-19 Statement: The Pet Resource Center of Kansas City is committed to the safety of our staff, volunteers and community members. The business is currently operating in a contactless manner, providing community members with essential services for their pets, while maintaining protocols recommended by local and federal health agencies. Due to the quick changing nature of the COVID-19 environment, we are seeking team members who are flexible, and understand that business protocols are being changed or updated on a consistent basis. While we seek to provide as much consistency for our team members as possible, due to current circumstances, schedules, operations, and/or other business needs may change throughout the hiring process and during employment. All initial hiring processes for this position will take place virtually, with follow up facility tours and/or working interviews as the second step of the interview process. All individuals entering PRCKC's doors are required to wear a mask on site.
Organization Overview: The Pet Resource Center of Kansas City (PRCKC) is a community resource Organization focused on preventative solutions to keepings pets in the homes of the people who love them. Our mission is to increase pet retention and improve the quality of life for pets through education and supportive services for families in need. We pride ourselves in acknowledging our diverse community with a nonjudgmental and compassionate approach. Our organization provides services to over 25,000 pets annually, with an emphasis on spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations, and resource distribution -- with the goal of enabling our community pets to live long, healthy and happy lives.
Our veterinarians help support our mission in several capacities, including our walk-in Wellness Care Clinic, mobile or offsite vaccination clinics, spay/neuter surgery clinic and special medical assistance for other medical procedures and services. Mobile vaccination clinics take place in both Missouri and Kansas.
About this role: PRCKC currently has a team of three full time veterinarians and is looking to add a fourth team member. Enjoy weekends off with a Monday thru Friday practice, with the exception of occasional Saturdays for special clinics, if available. Veterinarians work from 8-4/4:30 with a regular lunch break. PRCKC prioritizes mental health and work life balance, with an emphasis on utilizing Paid Time Off. Additionally, with multiple relief veterinarians on staff, we are able to allow flexibility with scheduling and vacation time.
S/N surgeries and vaccinations are only part of what we do. Our veterinarians rotate through all departments to gain experience in a variety of roles and to maintain skills in different practice areas. Currently, there are two veterinarians in surgery, one veterinarian in our wellness clinic and one veterinarian rotating through our mobile clinic and helping with special medical cases.
The PRCKC mobile clinic is a great way to get out of the office, talk one-on-one with appreciative clients, and take a holistic approach to giving people and pets the resources they need. It is truly a great break and a lot of fun!
PRCKC has a thriving special medical assistance program that provides treatment and services to pets who cannot receive care elsewhere due to financial constraints. Our veterinarians do not feel the burden of saying “no” to a client or euthanizing a pet due to finances alone.
We prioritize a solution based approach and will find necessary resources to treat community pets, whether we treat in house or send to a full service partner clinic. You can practice the type of veterinary medicine you want to practice, with the ability to decide what you are comfortable treating in-house and what you need to refer elsewhere.
PRCKC is an evolving organization that is looking for a veterinarian with a “can do” approach, who will aid us in expanding our in-house resources and contribute to innovative ideas on expanding our reach in the community. For example, we are currently looking to start a heartworm treatment program as schedules allow.
New graduates are welcome and our veterinarians offer fantastic support and training.
Benefits include: 120 hours of paid time off with substantial increases based on tenure, 401k benefits, employer-shared cost of health insurance, complimentary $10k life insurance policy, discounted limited veterinary services for personal pets, paid holidays, and rewarding work environment with emphasis on employee satisfaction and retention. There is an annual reimbursable expense account to be used for business-related expenses at the veterinarian's discretion including job-related continuing education, textbooks, licensing fees, liability insurance, etc., totaling $1,200.
Additional resources: Please review core competencies and PRCKC core value documents on job listing page to gain understanding of additional qualities we are looking for in this job candidate.
