In this role, you will work with IT leaders and business partners to develop tools, agents and automations around Copilot. We're seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Bachelor's level intern with strong writing and analytical skills to join our dynamic Quality Management (QM) team. About the Quality Management Department
Riverside's Quality Management Department oversees care for more than 40,000 individuals each year. Our team monitors incidents, conducts investigations, manages the Human Rights system, coordinates quality improvement initiatives, and maintains program policies across a wide range of services.
As a Quality Management Intern, you'll work on meaningful projects that directly support Riverside's mission to deliver safe, high-quality care while ensuring regulatory compliance.
What You'll Do
As part of our collaborative team, you'll engage in projects that drive meaningful quality improvements throughout the organization, including:
Reviewing, classifying, and entering data from multiple sources into the Quality Management database system to support accurate reporting and analysis
Developing and revising QM fact sheets distributed organization-wide to promote clarity and consistency on a range of quality-related topics
Supporting Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) initiatives, such as providing data support and contributing to Riverside's annual satisfaction survey reporting
Collaborating on a Human Rights Systems improvement initiative, helping to strengthen processes that uphold client rights

Schedule: Flexible, 10-20 hours per week (hybrid)

**Job Summary**
Under the direction of the Unit Manager, RN Clinical Operations Coordinator, and/or RN Service Line Supervisors, the Surgical Technologist Intern works directly under the guidance of a preceptor and surgeon/physician to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures.
This internship provides hands-on learning in the application of sterile technique and surgical practices. The Surgical Technologist Intern will gain knowledge in human anatomy, surgical processes, instrumentation, and emerging technologies. Interns will be mentored in anticipating the needs of surgeons and physicians, supporting optimal patient care and surgical outcomes in a variety of procedures, including both minimally invasive and complex surgeries.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Assist with the preparation and maintenance of a sterile operating room environment.
+ Prepare patients for surgical procedures.
+ Support the surgical team by passing instruments, supplies, and equipment during surgery under supervision.
+ Ensure the safety, cleanliness, and functionality of instruments and equipment per manufacturer guidelines and departmental protocols.
+ Participate in patient care planning by understanding patient history, allergies, and intraoperative considerations.
+ Gain familiarity with pharmacological agents dispensed to the sterile field and demonstrate awareness of labeling and dosing.
+ Learn and apply safety protocols, including sharps safety and temperature regulation during procedures.
+ Develop competency in specimen handling, labeling, and documentation.
+ Assist in room setup and turnover between procedures.
+ Demonstrate effective communication using proper medical and surgical terminology.
+ Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with department policy.
+ Progress toward meeting all clinical competencies required for certification and promotion.
**Required Qualifications**
+ Currently enrolled in an accredited Surgical Technologist program (senior year).
+ Program must be accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAAHEP).
+ Must obtain Surgical Technologist certification within six months of graduation (policy effective 11/14/21).
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ No prior experience required.
**Skills & Competencies**
+ Understanding of sterile and aseptic technique principles.
+ Ability to integrate knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and the use of surgical tools and technologies.
+ Strong communication skills and medical terminology understanding.
+ Eagerness to learn and collaborate in a fast-paced surgical environment.
+ Attention to detail and patient safety.

Summary
The TRIMEDX Biomedical Engineering Intern gains on the job training by shadowing experienced clinical engineers, biomedical engineers, lab engineers, and radiology engineers under the close supervision of TRIMEDX management. Duties include understanding the typical day of an engineer and how to work in a hospital environment, how to respond to service calls, balancing workload, documentation of repairs and Preventative Maintenance (PM) Work Orders, vendor management, learning how to calibrate equipment, troubleshooting techniques for various types of equipment, preventive maintenance procedures, electrical safety, and how to repair equipment. In this position, you will perform preventative maintenance procedures, inventory validation, and have the opportunity to work alongside experienced technicians in a real-time service environment.
Responsibilities
Gain on the job training by shadowing experienced clinical engineers, biomedical engineers, lab engineers, and radiology engineers under the close supervision of TRIMEDX management.
Understand the typical day of an engineer and how to work in a hospital environment
Respond to service calls
Learn how to balance workload, document repairs and PMs, vendor management, calibrate equipment, troubleshoot equipment
Train on preventive maintenance procedures, electrical safety, and how to repair equipment.
Perform preventative maintenance procedures, inventory validation, and work alongside experienced technicians in a real-time service environment.
All other duties as assigned.
Education and Qualifications
Be currently enrolled in an associate's, technical degree program, or the TRIMEDX Trained Certification or an equivalent biomedical related certification program.
Experience working with biomedical equipment in a clinical engineering environment preferred
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Must be able to pass pre-employment screening which will include a limited background check and screen for illegal substance use.
Valid driver's license required; variable travel requirements depending on primary site or region that may require use of personal vehicle.
