What You Bring
2+ years experience in welding, specializing in TIG, MIG, and plasma techniques.
Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to understand welding requirements and specifications. High school diploma required.
Material Knowledge: Familiarity with different types of metals and alloys, including their properties and how they react to various welding processes.
Safety Awareness: Strong understanding of welding safety protocols and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare, assemble, and install piping systems on ships according to detailed specifications.
Perform various welding techniques (e.g., SMAW, FCAW) to join and repair pipes with precision, accounting for different metals and wall thicknesses.
Inspect welds to identify and correct defects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and codes.
Adhere to all safety protocols, including the use of PPE, and participate in regular safety briefings.
Interpret blueprints and technical documents to plan and execute welding and assembly tasks accurately.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Proficiency in English required; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Proficiency in multiple welding techniques (SMAW, FCAW)
Ability to work in challenging conditions, such as confined spaces and elevated platforms
Strong knowledge of pipefitting and layout skills
Familiarity with industry safety standards (OSHA, ASME, etc.)
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work orders
Must have or be able to obtain a TWIC card
PHYSICAL / MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation. In addition, Employees in this position must also be capable of:
Walking, stepping, climbing, or otherwise moving from one location on the job site to another, which may be of varying heights and access parameters.
Standing, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, squatting, climbing, crawling, or sitting for long periods of time.
Repetitive movements by feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands and back in performance of work.
Climbing stairs, and/or vertical ladders of varying heights.
Working in confined work areas and/or elevated heights.
Lifting objects of minimum of 10lbs, with maximum single-person lift limit of 50lbs, with frequent lifting and carrying.
Adapting to temperature changes, outdoor conditions, and prolonged exposure to dusty, wet, or humid conditions, loud noises, and vibration.
Visually inspecting equipment and verifying information, often in small print.
Applying sideways/upward/downward pressure to tighten and loosen hardware.

Full-time Description
Main Purpose:
To perform job functions required and assigned in the fabrication of structural/ piping materials per the contract/job specifications and quality assurance requirements/fitting procedures and established ISO/QC program standards. The Welder's job duties are to properly weld structure or pipe.
Essential Functions:
Set and operate welding machine for applicable welding processes.
Perform welding processes assigned for structural, pipe, and welding projects.
Pass required welding test per AWS D1.1 latest edition, ASME section IX, and API 1104.
Maintain quality of welding that can pass NDT testing procedures.
Perform welding assignments safely and efficiently, always practicing safety.
Operate appropriate hand tools (chipping hammers, grinders, etc.)
Weld separately or in combination, using aluminum, stainless steel, cast iron, carbon steel, and other alloys.
Select and install torches, torch tips, filler rods, and flux according to welding chart specifications or any thickness of metals.
Determine required equipment and welding methods, applying knowledge of welding techniques.
Connect and turn regulator valves to activate and adjust gas flow and pressure to obtain desired flames.
Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking distortion, or expansion of the material.
Expertly welds small, medium, and large structural and pipes of various metals and alloys.
Expertly welds small, medium, and large structural items.
Be able to weld structure (beams, grating, stairways) and pipe.
Transport welding equipment in the yard to the work area.

Physical Requirements:

Environmental Conditions:
80% to 90% of the work activities are performed outdoors. Individuals will be required to work in changes of temperature, hot, cold, humid, wet, and dry conditions, dust, mud, etc. They may also be exposed to fumes (Paint, paint thinners, diesel, /or gas, etc.)
