This course introduces students to the field of informatics and serves as a foundation course to the digital media informatics, business informatics, and health informatics majors. Widener University is currently seeking a full-time 1st shift Campus Safety Officer. This position is outdoors and averages 40 hours a week, 8 hours a day, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. This position reports to the Lieutenant on duty. Campus Safety Officers are responsible for ensuring the safety and general well-being of all University community members, safeguarding university property and enforcing university policies and rules. Emphasis will be on responding to all calls for service and fostering good community relations and providing professional service.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):
Essential duties:
* Serve as a designated Campus Security Authority (CSA) in accordance with the requirements of the Clery Act.
* Conduct proactive and visible patrols of assigned areas on foot, by vehicle, or by using other means of transportation to deter and detect potential security threats.
* Respond to all calls for service in a professional and timely manner, perform an initial investigation, if necessary, and work to resolve the situation.
* Respond to reports of irregularities such as fire hazards, facilities/mechanical malfunctions, physical altercations, accidents and criminal activities.
* Inspect premises to identify potential security risks or vulnerabilities.
* Handle conflicts or disputes in a calm and professional manner.
* Prepare reports accurately and objectively detailing incidents on and off campus.
* Act as a point of contact for inquiries or concerns, offering a helpful and approachable demeanor.
* Coordinate with local law enforcement and emergency services when necessary.
* Perform other duties as assigned or directed.
Secondary responsibilities:
* Flexibility to work additional shifts as needed or required, including but not limited to the dispatch office on campus
* Assist with University athletic/special events
* Manage crowds during events or peak times to ensure a safe and orderly environment.
* Report any maintenance issues, such as malfunctioning lights, lock issues, etc.
* Coordinate with other emergency services and agencies during critical incidents
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):
Required:
* High school diploma or equivalent
* Valid driver's license
* Experience in a customer service or security related field
* Ability to interact professionally with the public
* Ability to operate a computer, radio or equipment located in a vehicle or hand held
* Demonstrated ability to tactfully and effectively communicate (written and verbal) with the university community and colleagues
* Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
* Ability to handle difficult situations tactfully
* Must successfully pass a criminal background check to include the PA Criminal PA Child Abuse and FBI clearance
Preferred:
* Experience working in higher education or a school environment
* Law enforcement, military, campus or public safety experience
* Familiarity with the local area and surrounding community
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS:
* Ability to walk for extended periods of time
* Ability to walk up and down steps both inside and outside of buildings
* Ability to walk outdoors in your assigned area in all types of weather conditions
* Ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time both inside and outside of buildings
* Ability to lift objects weighing up to 35 lbs.

Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site position for a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Center for AI, Data Science & Informatics directed by Dr. Jay S. Patel at the Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry (Philadelphia, PA). The postdoc will conduct high-quality research at the intersection of data science, artificial intelligence, healthcare, and dentistry; develop and test hypotheses; and analyze complex, large-scale datasets. Responsibilities include collaboration with cross-disciplinary teams, grant/proposal development, mentoring junior researchers, computer programming and software/tooling, and contributing to peer-reviewed publications. The role may also include assisting with teaching and presenting findings to academic and professional audiences.
Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, Biomedical/Health Informatics, Computational Biology, or a closely related field.
Demonstrated expertise in machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, or multimodal data fusion.
Strong programming proficiency in Python, R, and SQL, with experience in TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
Experience with healthcare datasets (e.g., EHR, claims, registries, or imaging).
Excellent scientific writing and communication skills with evidence of peer-reviewed publications.
Prior experience with grant and manuscript preparation.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with federated learning, explainable AI, and model fairness.
Familiarity with clinical and dental data systems (e.g., Epic, axi Um), health information exchanges (e.g., HSX), or OMOP.
Experience with IRB protocols, data-use/data-sharing agreements, and sponsored research compliance.

Dispatchers safeguard the University community by expertly coordinating communications among safety personnel, monitoring dispatch systems, and responding to both emergency and non-emergency calls with professionalism and efficiency. Their role is critical in ensuring that every situation whether urgent or routine is managed swiftly, accurately, and with the wellbeing of the community.
Reporting directly to the Dispatch Manager, the Dispatcher plays a vital role in safeguarding the University community by serving as the central hub for safety communications. This position requires coordinating and managing communications among campus safety personnel, monitoring dispatch systems to ensure timely and accurate information flow and responding to emergency and non-emergency calls with professionalism, efficiency, and composure.
This position is essential to maintaining the safety, security, and wellbeing of students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The Dispatcher will demonstrate strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm under pressure while supporting the University's commitment to a safe and welcoming environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):
Essential Duties:
* Serve as a designated Campus Security Authority (CSA) in compliance with the Clery Act.
* Receive, prioritize, and dispatch emergency and non-emergency calls for service.
* Gather accurate details during interactions to ensure timely and appropriate safety responses.
* Operate and manage CAD (computer-aided dispatch), video management, card access, alarm systems, and key control.
* Use two-way radios to dispatch personnel and coordinate responses effectively.
* Work closely with University departments and external agencies to coordinate incident response.
* Manage multiple responsibilities in both high-stress and routine situations.
* Troubleshoot minor issues with dispatch systems and related technology.
* Contact police, fire, or medical services when required.
* Participate in emergency drills and exercises to maintain operational readiness.
Secondary Responsibilities:
* Work flexible or additional shifts as needed to support department operations.
* Support the Office of Campus Safety during University athletic events, ceremonies, and special functions.
* Manage Campus1Card system functions and distribute parking permits.
* Perform other job-related duties as assigned or directed to support departmental needs and align with the mission, values and goals of the Office of Emergency Management/Campus Safety.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):
Required:
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Valid driver's license.
* Prior experience in customer service or a security-related role.
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage professionally with diverse populations.
* Proficiency in operating computers, two-way radios, and dispatch/security equipment.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills to tactfully and effectively communicate with the university community and colleagues.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
* Demonstrated ability to remain calm and tactful in challenging situations.
* Successful completion of background checks including PA Criminal, PA Child Abuse, and FBI clearance.
Preferred:
* Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, Public Safety, or related field; additional coursework or training in communications, law enforcement, or emergency response.
* Prior experience as a Dispatcher.
* Familiarity with Clery Act reporting requirements and procedures
* Experience working in higher education or school-based environments.
* Background in law enforcement, military, campus or public safety.
* Familiarity with the local community and surrounding areas.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS:
* Demonstrate strong manual dexterity and precise coordination in operating computers, keyboards, mice, two‑way radios, telephones, and other dispatch or security equipment with accuracy and efficiency
* Ability to walk for extended periods and navigate stairs in various building environments.
* Capacity to patrol outdoors in all weather conditions.
* Ability to stand or sit for long durations, both indoors and outdoors.
* Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 55 lbs.
* Willingness to work non-standard hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Widener University is currently seeking a Painter. Reporting to the Assistant Director for Buildings and Grounds and with moderate supervision, the Painter performs work with various materials and tools for the preparation and application of paints, stains, dies and other applied coatings along with all other functions normally associated with the trade to provide a safe and beautiful environment in all University facilities and grounds.
Facilities Management staff are responsible to provide safe and beautiful facilities that support the academic mission and campus operations. The Facilities Management Mission is to continuously improve the services we provide and make the experience of students, faculty, staff, and visitors the best it can possibly be. Every staff member may be assigned duties within their capacity aside from duties that are their technical expertise, and every staff member is empowered to perform tasks within their capacity to achieve this Mission.
This role works under moderate supervision and plays a key role in maintaining the aesthetic and functional integrity of university facilities and grounds. This position involves skilled work in preparing and applying paints, stains, dyes, and other coatings, contributing to a safe and visually appealing campus environment. This position is essential and is required to report and remain on campus in response to emergencies even when normal university operations are cancelled or suspended. This position may also be required to work weekends and off-hours to support weekend operations and special events.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):
Essential Duties:
Inspection & Evaluation
* Assess building interiors and exteriors to determine painting, staining, and finishing requirements.
* Identify surface conditions and recommend appropriate preparation and coating methods.
Worksite Preparation
* Set up scaffolding, ladders, drop cloths, and protective barriers.
* Safely move and cover furniture, equipment, and fixtures to protect from damage.
Surface Preparation
* Strip, sand, caulk, patch, prime, and mask surfaces to ensure durable, high-quality finishes.
* Repair and finish drywall to achieve smooth, professional results.
Application of Finishes
* Apply paint, stain, varnish, or specialty coatings to walls, ceilings, furniture, cabinetry, and equipment.
* Execute exterior painting projects including roadways, parking lots, curbs, sidewalks, and athletic surfaces.
* Install and paint signage across campus or designated facilities.
Tools & Equipment
* Operate and maintain brushes, rollers, sprayers, and power tools.
* Ensure proper cleaning, storage, and upkeep of painting equipment.
Collaboration & Coordination
* Work closely with carpenters, electricians, and maintenance staff on renovation and replacement projects.
* Coordinate tasks with other trades to minimize disruption and maximize efficiency.
Documentation & Reporting
* Record work orders, materials used, and project details for accurate tracking.
* Maintain logs and reports to support project planning and accountability.
Professionalism & Customer Service
* Uphold a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
* Deliver excellent customer service with a positive, solution-oriented attitude.
Secondary Responsibilities:
* Assist with furniture setup and breakdown for events, meetings, and special functions.
* Support emergency response efforts, including snow and ice removal when required.
* Participate in weekend, evening, or off-hour operations to meet project deadlines or urgent needs.
* Perform other job-related duties as assigned or directed to support departmental needs and align with the mission, values and goals of Facilities Management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):
Required:
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Valid driver's license with proof of insurability.
* Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the painting trade
* Completion of formal training or equivalent hands-on experience in painting.
* Ability to prepare detailed project specifications, cost estimates, and bills of materials.
* Proficient in surface preparation techniques, including mechanical cleaning, chemical-assisted cleaning, and conversion coatings.
* Knowledge of coating application technologies including Low Volume High Pressure (LVHP), High Volume Low Pressure (HVLP), Airless systems, and Air-Assisted Airless systems.
* Experience with wall coverings, including application and removal.
* Ability to select and apply a wide range of coatings: water-based and oil-based paints, water-based urethane, epoxy coatings, stains and traffic marking paints.
* Expertise in color matching and applying protective finishes to various surfaces, including wood, metal, concrete, drywall, plaster, masonry, asphalt, glass, and plastic.
* Basic proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Outlook.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to follow verbal and written instructions in English.
* Ability to read and interpret safety and regulatory documentation, including NFPA and ICC codes, OSHA guidelines, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS:
* Ability to stand, sit, bend, kneel, climb stairs, reach overhead, and use ladders as required.
* Comfortable working in confined spaces and at elevated heights, including scaffolds, bucket-truck platforms, ladders, and high-reach lifts.
* Ability to lift up to 60 pounds at waist level and carry for 20 feet.
* Ability to lift up to 40 pounds from ground level to overhead.
* Capability to manually shovel snow when necessary.
* Required to report to campus and remain on-site during emergencies or severe weather events, even when normal operations are suspended.
* Flexibility to work weekends and holidays to support campus operations or special events.

Widener University is currently seeking a Director of Development for Major Gifts to join its University Advancement team. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Development and Alumni Engagement, the Director will play a pivotal role in advancing the University's mission and strategic priorities of driving philanthropic support by securing major gifts of $25,000 and above.
This position will manage a portfolio of donors and prospects, guiding them through the complete giving cycle from identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship. The successful candidate will be a strategic relationship builder, collaborating across academic leadership, Advancement colleagues, and volunteers to align donor interests with University needs. Based on Widener's Chester campus, the role requires regular travel to engage donors and active participation in university-wide events.
Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Development and Alumni Engagement, the Director of Developments for Major Gifts is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding high-value donors to secure philanthropic support with an emphasis on gifts of $25,000 or more. This role involves managing a portfolio of prospects, collaborating with university leadership and faculty, and developing strategic plans for major and principal gifts.

Widener University is currently seeking a Part-Time Shuttle Bus Driver on our Chester campus. This role reports to the Assistant Director of Transportation and provides support to all faculty, students and staff across campus. The schedule for this role is part-time with some partial first and/or second shifts, Monday - Friday & possible weekends. Please note hours may vary.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):
Essential duties:
* Provide safe and professional shuttle service to the campus community and surrounding local areas
* Ability to operate 14 passenger vehicles
* Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle safety inspections
* Maintain interior and exterior of vehicle to ensure safety and cleanliness, including daily sanitizing of common touch points throughout vehicle & a weekly thorough cleaning throughout flooring and seating areas
* Maintain service on assigned daily route and time schedule
* Comply with all state and federal rules and regulations, as well as University policies and procedures
* Maintain a friendly, helpful demeanor
* Monitor roadways and parking lot areas for potential hazards to vehicle and passengers
* Maintain accurate rider log as instructed
Secondary responsibilities:
* Responsible to write and file reports as needed
* Ability to operate a radio or any equipment provided & located in vehicle
* Report all incidents or accidents immediately to the dispatch office and Supervisors as directed
* Perform other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):
Required:
* High school graduate or equivalent
* Valid State Driver's License with a clean driving record for past five (5) years
* Ability to operate vehicle in inclement weather
* Demonstrated ability to communicate tactically (written and verbal) with passengers and colleagues tactfully and effectively
* Superior interpersonal skills
* Ability to operate a computer, radio or equipment located in vehicle
* Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize
* Demonstrate organizational skills, attention to detail & accuracy
* Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
* Ability to handle demanding situations professionally & tactfully
Preferred:
* Previous professional experience in driving large groups
* Valid Commercial Driver's License
* Familiarity with the local area and community
* Experience in a customer service-related role
* Experience working at a school or university
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS:

Widener University is currently seeking a Assistant Athletic Trainer in the Department of Athletics. Reporting to Head Athletic Trainer this role provides support to Widener University's 21 varsity athletic teams.
Widener University, an NCAA Division III Commonwealth Conference member of the Middle Atlantic Conferences, is currently seeking an Assistant Athletic Trainer in the Widener University Department of Athletics. Reporting to the Head Athletic Trainer, this role provides support to Widener's 21 athletic teams throughout the academic year. The Assistant Athletic Trainer is a member of the athletic training staff responsible for providing high-quality care for the student-athletes participating on the 21 NCAA Division III varsity teams. The primary objective is to help provide the safest possible sports experience for the student-athletes by preventing as many injuries as possible, and properly managing the injuries that do occur. Additional responsibilities may be assigned in areas such as committee work, and administrative duties.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):
Essential duties:
* Provides prevention, evaluation, recognition, treatment, diagnosis, referral, and rehabilitation of injuries for student athletes. Assists in the selection and fitting of protective equipment, including special taping, pads, or braces.
* Serves as the primary medical contact and liaison between members of the coaching staff, student-athletes, parents, and physicians, other on and off-campus allied health personnel for assigned sports.
* Maintains safe environment for student athletes to include decision making involving the ability of student athletes to safely return to practice or competition following an injury and/or illness and communicate participation status with the appropriate personnel.
* Provide assistance to staff members regarding the prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries for all student athletes.
* Provides athletic injury care coverage during all practice, strength and conditioning sessions, and competitions, at home and some away events.
* Prepares and maintains appropriate athletic injury care records, statistics and reports as required utilizing the present computer programs for such purposes following all NCAA and NATA (National Athletic Trainers' Assoc.) guidelines;
* Adheres to compliance with all federal, state, university laws including FERPA and HIPPA; and the maintenance of the highest level of confidence in regard to the various confidential information that the sports medicine staff is exposed to in regards to student-athletes and coaches.
* Ensure that all insurance procedures including pre-authorizations are followed prior to referring student athletes to all providers.
* Understands responsibilities with respect to Title IX, Clery, and other compliance requirements.
* Attends conventions, conferences, clinics, etc., to maintain Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and BOC (Board of Certification) licensure.
* Facilitating and overseeing excess medical policy, tracking open claims, parent communication, updating core provider up-to-date information. Communicates with student-athletes and coaches about the department's health insurance policies. Coordinates the disposition of medical bills incurred by student-athletes as well as the medical insurance for our student-athletes, as assigned by supervisor.
* Coordinating event/practice coverage for student workers, part-time professional staff, and clinical education of visiting interns for CAATE (Commission of Accreditation for Athletic Training Education). Provides supervision and serve as the preceptor for clinical education students from an approved educational program for athletic training. Coordinates scheduling of professional and clinical inter staff for home competitions and practices, as assigned by supervisor.
Secondary responsibilities:
* Assists in the development and integration of sports medicine policies and procedures as they relate to the operation of athletic training services including EAP's (Emergency Action Plan) and coordination with Campus Safety and EMS.
* Understands and contributes to implementation of departmental and institutional goals for achieving non-discrimination and creating a respectful, inclusive environment that is supportive of diversity.
* Coordinates scheduling for annual pre-participatory physical examination for returning student-athletes with Student Health Services. As part of clearance physicals, perform baseline concussion testing for each assigned sport.
* Reviews appropriate required paperwork for pre-participatory physical examination for first year and transfer student athletes. Work with Student Health Services to coordinate any necessary follow-up.
* Work with athletic training staff on the operation of the athletic training facility to insure appropriate function, maintenance, and accurate inventory control.
* Augments a reflective workspace environment where crisis reporting is clear and systematic, and significant event analyses are undertaken as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):
Required:
* Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree strongly preferred.
* Certification via the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers.
* Pennsylvania Licensure via PA State Board of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent out of state licensure prior to achieving PA licensure previously noted.
* CPR, AED, & First Aid Certification (Instructor Certification Preferred).
Preferred:
* Collegiate athletic trainer experience strongly preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS:
* Nontraditional hours - weekends, nights, days etc.
* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The individual must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. The ability to perform emergency protocols, provide appropriate hydration and monitor the safety of the environment in which the practice or game is taking place.
* The ability to perform these tasks includes, but is not limited to, being physically able to transport an injured student-athlete from the field of play in a timely fashion, being physically able to get in a position to assess the student athlete's injury in an acute situation (i.e. squatting, kneeling, bending, ability to lift and/or move 25-50 lbs., etc.)

Reporting directly to the Dean, the Associate Dean is a key member of the leadership team of the College of the Sciences and Mathematics. The Associate Dean works closely with University senior management, develops and maintains collaborative relationships with internal & external constituents, and stands in for the Dean as needed. Working collaboratively with other members of the Dean's staff, the Associate Dean supports faculty, departments, and programs in developing and implementing effective student learning assessment plans that ensure desired student learning outcomes, alignment with specialized accreditation, as well as appropriate instructional reporting. The Associate Dean provides internal college oversight on the internal grant process. The Associate Dean assists in matters related to departmental scheduling, workload, and budgets and personnel management in adherence of policies, procedures, and guidelines established by the Dean.
The ideal candidate is familiar with learning and operational trends in higher education in general. The candidate will demonstrate the ability to develop and communicate the vision, mission, and goals of the College. This individual will also mentor and develop professional staff and team members while providing support to faculty and departments. The individual will develop and maintain collaborative relationships with University partners and external entities in pursuant of the College's goals and objectives.
Responsibilities include:
* Direct oversight and support to CSM faculty, departments, and programs in developing and implementing student learning assessment plans that ensure desired student learning outcomes, alignment with specialized accreditation, as well as appropriate institutional reporting (i.e., system program review)
* Direct oversight of temporary faculty evaluation processes
* Manage student support services and student complaint processes that arise to the Dean's office
* Work collaboratively with other members of the Dean's staff to oversee and administer internal CSM grant programs that support faculty development and strategic goals
* Work with the Dean's office, departments, and other units as appropriate on University and College events, including Commencement and CSM Poster Sessions
* Provide support to CSM faculty, departments, and programs as they address pedagogical, curricular, and programmatic issues, particularly through the university-wide curriculum review process. Work collaboratively with other entities on campus that support these matters
* Assist faculty in their efforts to obtain resources in support of their scholarly and creative work. Mentor and support CSM faculty in their development as teacher-scholars
* Assist the Dean in matters related to departmental scheduling, workload, budgets, and personnel, implementing the policies, procedures, and guidelines established by the Dean
* Assist the Dean with college level strategic planning, specialized accreditation and reporting of progress on college and institutional goals
* Assist the Dean with conducting faculty and staff searches in a manner that supports the institution's commitment to access and belonging
* Demonstrate a commitment to the university's diversity initiatives by fostering a climate that values civility and inclusion within the college
* Participate in institutional meetings as necessary in consultation with the Dean
* Maintain current knowledge of the collective bargaining agreements for faculty and staff within the institution
* An earned doctorate from a regionally-accredited institution in a discipline appropriate to the College of the Sciences and Mathematics
* Experience with program development and assessment

* Demonstrated knowledge of the differing disciplinary and curricular needs of the programs and disciplines within CSM
* Experience handling complex and multiple tasks with competing priorities and/or work deadlines
* Ability to effectively communicate in writing and verbally and present dynamically to a variety of constituents
* Administrative experience at the level of Associate Dean, Department Chairperson, Assistant Chairperson, Program Director, and/or other significant college or university leadership position, and/or
* Substantive experience in university-wide service or leadership, and/or
* Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and foster a team environment, and/or
* Experience with initiating and administering grants and partnerships, and/or
* Experience supervising staff, and/or
* Experience in strategic planning and specialized accreditation

The physician-scientist will be a member of the Section of Hematology and have outpatient clinics focused on hemostasis and thrombotic disorders. He/She will practice out of the flagship Temple University Hospital, a 746-bed tertiary care facility with robust clinical hematology and oncology programs, that is adjacent to the Medical School.

Candidate Qualifications
Qualified applicants will have Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degrees, demonstrating the ability to develop an independent, extramurally funded research laboratory.
Must have an active research program in hemostasis, thrombosis, infectious disease models with emphasis on hemostasis and thrombosis, platelet biology and signal transduction, or regulation of coagulation.
Possess academic credentials for a faculty appointment as Assistant Professor or Associate Professor. The successful candidate must have multiple publications in respectable peer-reviewed journals, excellent interpersonal and writing skills, and experience writing NIH grants. Experience in mentoring undergraduate and graduate students is welcome.
Physician-scientists must be BE/BC in hematology and eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Faculty Appointment and Compensation
The new faculty member will carry a Tenure Track faculty appointment in LKSOM within the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences and a secondary appointment in the Department of Medicine. The annual compensation shall be determined based on experience and qualifications.

Widener University is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to join our Fiscal Operations team. This role plays a key part in ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness of the University's financial operations. The Accounts Payable Specialist will be responsible for processing vendor payment requests and employee reimbursements, maintaining compliance with established policies, and delivering exceptional customer service to both internal departments and external partners.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and adept at managing operational tasks in a fast-paced environment. They should demonstrate strong communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively across teams, and a commitment to continuous improvement. A motivated, reliable team player, this individual will proactively identify opportunities to streamline processes and support the University's mission through accurate and transparent financial practices.
Reporting to the Director of Payroll and Accounts Payable, the Accounts Payable Specialist is a critical member of the Fiscal Operations team. This role ensures the accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness of daily financial transactions, supporting the University's operational integrity. The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for reviewing and processing vendor payment requests, employee reimbursements, student refund payments, and coordinating with the University's third-party payment processor to confirm successful execution of transactions. In addition, this position proactively identifies and recommends process improvements to streamline workflows and enhance overall efficiency.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):
Essential Duties:
Financial Operations
* Execute vendor and student refund payment runs, ensuring proper documentation and filing of supporting materials.
* Ensure timely and accurate entry of invoices and payment requests in compliance with University policies and procedures.
* Monitor workflow within the University's financial system to identify and resolve discrepancies or errors promptly.
* Collaborate with departments across campus to ensure accurate recording and reconciliation of financial transactions.
* Coordinate with the University's third-party payment processor to validate payment files, troubleshoot issues, and confirm successful execution of transactions.
* Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
Audit & Reporting
* Facilitate audit requests by providing detailed information on vendor payments, approvals, and supporting documentation.
* Maintain accurate records to support compliance, transparency, and accountability in financial operations.
Communication & Education
* Deliver clear guidance on processes, procedures, and best practices to support and educate the University community.
* Communicate effectively with colleagues and external partners regarding workflows, payment status, and financial processes, maintaining professionalism and tact.
Process Improvement & Compliance
* Play a key role in assessing current processes and recommending improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
* Ensure compliance with University internal controls related to purchasing, payments, and reimbursements.
* Review employee reimbursement requests for accuracy, adherence to University policies, and proper financial coding.
* Support compliance with federal, state, and University regulations related to vendor payments and reporting.
Systems & Implementation
* Participate in new system and application implementations, including reviewing and assessing current and proposed workflows.
* Contribute to the design and adoption of improved financial processes and technology solutions.
Secondary Responsibilities:
* Respond to customer and departmental inquiries with timely updates.
* Represent the Fiscal Operations department in meetings.
* Perform other job-related duties as assigned or directed to support departmental needs and align with the mission, values and goals of Fiscal Operations & Risk Management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):
Required:
* High School Diploma or GED.
* Minimum of 3 years experience in Accounts Payable, Payroll, or a related field.
* Proven proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships.
* Capable of working with minimal supervision while consistently meeting deadlines.
* Comfortable operating in fast-paced, dynamic, and ambiguous environment.
* Exceptional organizational abilities with keen attention to detail.
* Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
Preferred:
* Associate's degree in Accounting or a related field.
* Experience with Ellucian Colleague and Informer reporting tools.
* Background in higher education finance operations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS:
* May require periodic overtime, particularly during peak periods (e.g., quarterly and year-end closings).
* Ability to occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 15 lbs.
* Extended periods of sitting and computer use are expected, with routine office tasks.
* Standard office environment with occasional standing, bending, stooping, or kneeling.

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Buildings & Grounds, the Grounds Utility Mechanic plays a vital role in maintaining a safe, functional, and welcoming campus environment. This hands-on position encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including grounds maintenance and landscaping support, campus moving services and logistical coordination, event setup and breakdown, furniture and equipment assembly/ disassembly, general maintenance and operational support.
The Grounds Utility Mechanic also leads and coordinates the groundskeeper utility team during campus moves and event operations. Success in this role requires strong organizational skills, a commitment to safety, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
As essential personnel, the Grounds Utility Mechanic must be available during emergencies and severe weather events, as well as for weekend and off-hours work to support special campus activities. Flexibility, reliability, and a proactive approach are key to thriving in this role.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):
Essential Duties:
Trash & Recycling Management
* Patrol regularly assigned areas to remove trash and debris.
* Ensure prompt and efficient removal of trash and recycling materials.
Utility Support
* Provide support with furniture moving, setup, and breakdown for events and office relocations, ensuring efficient execution and minimal disruption.
* Clean and organize storage rooms, basements, hallways, and mechanical rooms.
Team Leadership
* Provide direction and guidance to grounds utility technicians during moves and event setups.
* Assemble and disassemble furniture and equipment using hand and power tools, following best practices to ensure efficiency and prevent damage or injury.
Maintenance & Trade Assistance
* Contribute to building maintenance and trades operations by applying technical skills to support a wide range of tasks.
* Collaborate with trade technicians and Assistant Director to determine task scope.
Inventory Management
* Ensure accurate tracking and management of stored furniture and classroom seating inventory.
Documentation & Professionalism
* Complete work order documentation as required.
* Maintain a professional appearance and a positive, customer-focused attitude.
Secondary Responsibilities:
Grounds Maintenance
* Perform seasonal tasks including mowing, pruning, mulching, weeding, leaf and snow removal.
* Operate various grounds maintenance equipment (e.g., lawn mowers, trimmers, leaf blowers, snow throwers, snow plows, dump trucks, pick-up trucks, utility vehicles, salt spreaders, etc.).
Collaboration
* Work cooperatively with University staff and contractors to ensure high-quality outcomes.
* Perform other job-related duties as assigned or directed to support departmental needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):
Required:
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Valid driver's license with proof of insurability.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
* Ability to execute plans for moves and event setups based on instructions from the Assistant Director or event sponsor.
* Directing and guiding utility teams during setup and takedown operations.
* Hands-on experience with hand and power tools, such as wrenches, screwdrivers, and drill-drivers, for assembling and disassembling furniture and equipment.
* Team-oriented mindset, with a demonstrated ability to work cooperatively to accomplish tasks.
Preferred:
* Experience in grounds maintenance.
* Prior involvement in event setups and relocation tasks.
* Background in building and construction trades.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS:
* Ability to stand, sit, bend, kneel, climb stairs, reach overhead, and ascend ladders.
* Must be able to work in confined or at elevated heights (e.g., scaffolding, bucket-truck platforms, ladders, and high-reach lifts).
* Must be able to lift 60 pounds at waist level and carry it for a distance of 20 feet.
* Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds from ground level to overhead.
* Ability to manually shovel snow.
* Required to report to campus during emergencies and severe weather events, even when normal operations are cancelled or suspended.
* May be scheduled to work weekends and holidays to support special events and operations.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Admissions and Enrollment, the Enrollment Counselor will work with prospective students, applicants and continuing students daily via phone, email, text, web chat or in person, and guide them through the admissions and enrollment processes, helping them understand their degree program options and lead them through the various admissions processes and through registration for classes. The Enrollment Counselor will also work closely with Academic Advisors as prospective and continuing students navigate the enrollment and admissions processes.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):
Essential Duties:
Admissions & Enrollment Management
* Implement strategies to move individuals through the admissions pipeline: prospects → applicants → admitted students → enrolled students.
* Facilitate conversion of incomplete applications to completion through proactive email and phone communication.
* Coordinate admission reviews, including interview scheduling, interview day logistics, rubric updates, and faculty review processes.
* Enter admissions decisions and registration/advising information into CRM systems for transfer to the student information system.
* Manage admission reviews for dual degree applicants in collaboration with Graduate Program Directors and admissions staff.
* Oversee processes related to Leave of Absence, expired conditional/provisional matriculations, matriculation time limits, and program changes.
Collaboration & Communication
* Consult with Graduate Program Directors regarding applicant questions, concerns, and challenges.
* Facilitate connections between Graduate Program Directors and prospects, applicants, and admitted students.
* Partner with Enrollment Services to address issues related to admission, enrollment, and retention.
* Work closely with the Associate Director to support enrollment growth, retention strategies, and initiatives aligned with departmental goals.
Systems & Data Management
* Enter and maintain application information in Slate CRM and CAS systems, including data entry, document scanning, and communication uploads.
* Provide training for faculty and reviewers on CRM and CAS systems.
* Run reports from CRM systems and manage data imports/exports across platforms.
* Update application and admission information on university websites and conduct online research on academic programs.
* Conduct and compile results of Admitted Student Surveys to inform program improvements.
Secondary Responsibilities:
* Conduct annual reviews of application and admission materials with Graduate Program Directors and admissions staff, updating as needed.
* Represent the university at external recruitment fairs and events.
* Collaborate with the University Relations team to develop recruitment and marketing materials.
* Perform other job-related duties as assigned or directed to support departmental needs and align with the mission, values and goals of Enrollment Management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):
Required:
* Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Education, Marketing, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience may be considered.
* Minimum of 2 years of experience in a relevant role (e.g., admissions, student services, enrollment, online management, customer service, or office support).
* Experience working with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
* Proven ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
* Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and plan effectively.
* Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
* Knowledge of FERPA regulations and demonstrated commitment to confidentiality.
Preferred:
* Master's degree in Communications, Counseling, Higher Education, Social Work or a related field.
* Demonstrated experience with Canvas LMS.
* Prior experience in University admissions processes.
* Knowledge of accreditation standards in human services and mental health fields (e.g. CSWE, CACREP, APA).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS:
* Standard office environment with frequent walk-in traffic and a high level of interaction with colleagues, students, and visitors, both in person, electronically, and by phone.
* Mobility between workstation and various campus buildings.
* Occasional travel within a 100-mile radius; overnight travel is not anticipated.
* A valid driver's license.
* Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.

Widener University is currently seeking a Simulation Lab Assistant to assist with the daily operations in the Center for Simulation. This is an adjunct position within the School of Nursing for the Spring 2024 semester (starting in January), with the possibility of additional opportunities in Fall 2024 and beyond. This position reports to the Director of the Center for Simulation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):
Essential duties:
* Monitor inventory and order supplies for simulations and lab.
* Establish and maintain relationships with vendors to ensure current supplies.
* Provide recommendations for purchase of equipment, supplies, and budget.
* Set-up and troubleshoot equipment and send out lab equipment to be fixed if necessary.
* Assist with data entry for budget purposes.
* Assist with tours as needed.
* Participate in the set -up and break down of large, campus simulations including, but not limited to, Poverty, Disaster, and In Her Shoes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):
Required:
* High school diploma
* Effective verbal & communication skills.
* Experience with Microsoft Word products.
* Transportation to and from campus. All responsibilities will take place in person.
* Must have strong organizational skills.
* Flexible with daily changes within the lab.
Preferred:
* Secondary education.
* Familiar with healthcare equipment and terminology.
