The California Chamber of Commerce has an opening for a lobbyist to represent the CalChamber viewpoint in the legislative and regulatory arena. The Policy Advocate will specialize in housing, recycling and product regulation and will function both as a lobbyist to advance the interests of CalChamber, and as a leader to engage legislators, legislative and executive staff, CalChamber members and the business community in general to support CalChamber's advocacy goals. The Policy Advocate will also work with state and local agencies, media and the public in general.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Analyze and evaluate legislative and regulatory proposals to assess the impact on business in California.
Meet with legislators, legislative and executive branch staff to acquaint and inform them of the CalChamber viewpoint regarding proposed legislation and regulations.
Write support and opposition letters to legislators, legislative committees and regulatory agencies.
Provide testimony at legislative and regulatory hearings on the CalChamber's position as necessary.
Identify, contact and assist witnesses from affected businesses to testify at legislative and regulatory hearings.
Plan CalChamber committee meetings and make presentations at those meetings.
Write articles for CalChamber publications as necessary.
Answer calls from CalChamber members and non-members on legislative and regulatory issues.
Answer media questions on applicable legislative and regulatory issues.
Speak to interested groups on legislative and regulatory issues.

General Description The California Teachers Association (CTA) is one of California's largest and most dynamic labor unions. The Governmental Relations Department influences state legislation and agencies, and coordinates with the National Education Association on advocacy with the federal government. As part of the CTA legislative team, the successful applicant will provide detailed information and expert analysis on complex issues on behalf of California's public schools and our members. The Legislative Advocate will have an exceptional ability to influence public policy and help organize membership participation in assessing and supporting CTA's advocacy with state government.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Act as a legislative and regulatory representative for the CTA.
* Prepare supportive data, rationale and testimony for appearances before committees of the legislature and governmental agencies and/or boards.
* Interpret and build support for the CTA legislative and regulatory program through oral and written communication with legislative committees, government agencies, individual legislators, CTA members and lay and professional groups.
* Work cooperatively with other organizations and their representatives to build support for the CTA legislative and regulatory program.
* Work with appropriate CTA Regions/Departments, CTA State Council committees, other committees, and CTA chapters as assigned.

Qualifications - Minimum Required
* Bachelor's or higher degree preferred.

* Deep understanding of the issues facing the public schools and the education profession.

GENERAL PURPOSE

Provides “on-the-spot” counseling that is both helpful to the clients and consistent with the philosophy of the program.
Drives on program business using personal vehicle for the purposes of medication outreach, home visits, transporting clients to appointments/activities, community/county meetings/trainings, MH court.
Attends to the safety, health, and wellbeing of clients.

QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM:
A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is through graduation from high school or an accredited GED program and four (4) years of varied experience as a provider of direct mental health services. Relevant higher education may be substituted for up to two (2) years of experience.
OPTIMUM:
Graduation from a four (4) year university or college with a bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or related field and four (4) years varied experience as a provider of direct mental health services or meeting other Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist qualifications.

Program Summary:

POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Shelter Manager, the Shelter Overnight Advocate primarily focuses on maintaining the safety and operations of the shelter, while simultaneously offering compassionate and professional support to program participants.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Shelter Operations
Supervise guest activities and respond to questions and concerns with timeliness, care, and compassion.
Explain program requirements and regulations to new, incoming guests. Ensure guest program compliance.
Perform routine and emergency housekeeping duties and other maintenance tasks as needed. Maintain the cleanliness of the staff areas.
Provide emergency assistance, including but not limited to CPR and/or overdose reversal, to program participants and co-workers as necessary.
Document and notify the Shelter Manager regarding program participants concerns, potential workflow problems, and/or any exceptions to policy that impact program security.
Regularly monitor Utah's Place and the surrounding areas to ensure the safety of the program participants and the shelter.
Maintain working knowledge of fire, safety, health, and work standards to help provide a safe and positive environment for all.

Ensure all required Utah's Place services are entered into the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) accurately and within the expected timeframe.
Review all logs nightly for accuracy and timely completion.

General Qualifications

WHAT IS THE JOB?
The Behavioral Support Staff works one-on-one with an adult who has an Intellectual and/or Developmental Disability who also needs experienced staff to support with consistent, high behavioral challenges or medical challenges. The clients we support live in their own homes - no group homes, and no locked facilities! The clients that this position supports are deaf or hard of hearing, so deaf and ASL-friendly applicants are welcome!
The Behavioral Support Staff's job is to provide direction and hands-on support with any and all needs our clients have, but the Behavioral Support Staff is not a butler! The goal is for our clients to engage in all parts of their lives, and the Behavioral Support Staff is responsible for making sure that even though our clients may need someone to help them with eating, cleaning, bathing, or toileting, that they themselves are still taking part in those activities! Behavioral Support Staff assist with assessment and behavioral intervention for the person they work with.
SCHEDULE
Behavioral Support Staff are hired with specific set schedules, which makes planning the rest of your life around work easier! The people we support need 24/7 care so we have a variety of full-time schedules.
During our interview process we discuss applicant availability and assess where best to consider someone based on numerous factors.
The rate of pay for the Behavioral Support Staff position ranges between $23 to $27 per hour dependent upon verifiable, related experience with behavioral supports. Staff who have American Sign Language skills and who work with a client that requires their staff to use American Sign Language skills receive an additional $.50 to $1.00 per hour!
LOCATION
Our Behavioral Support Staff provide support in the Greater Sacramento area. Behavioral Support Staff work in the home and in the community of the person they're supporting, so the work is done... where our clients live and play! One of the biggest goals is making sure that our clients' behavioral challenges don't stop them from engaging with their community - getting out of the home and into the world is part of the job as well!
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Our Behavioral Support Staff Position requires at least six months of professional experience working with people who have regular behavioral challenges. Experience beyond six months is reviewed in relation to wage offered.
The Behavioral Support Staff position also requires staff to drive which means we require a valid California Driver License, current auto insurance, and clean & reliable vehicle.
