Mentor Job Description
The Mentor meets with a designated youth in a structured partnership that focuses on the needs of the mentored participants while fostering a supportive and positive relationship. Within the mentoring relationship, the goal will be for the Mentor to facilitate and promote connections to the youth's natural supports in his/her community and encourage independence in daily living skills. The Mentor is responsible for assisting in developing the Mentor Plan with the team and implementing the plan. The goal is for the relationship to last at least a year; however, matches can be for the duration of the school year if you are unavailable in the summer.
Mentors meet one to two times per week with their mentee doing various activities in the community, including, but not limited to, bowling, miniature golfing, trampoline parks, hiking, movies, and baking while working on goals such as improving social skills, safety awareness, and the ability to manage emotions. You will collaborate with the program director to choose mentees that best fit your personality/interests/experience goals. This position is highly flexible in allowing you to choose as little or as many hours as you want, and shifts can be built around your other work/school/life schedules. Starting pay varies depending on child's needs and mentor's experience level. In addition to the hourly pay rate, there is a budget for activities as well as mileage reimbursement.

Under general oversight by the Food Service Manager, the Food Service Assistant is responsible for assisting with quantity food production, seasonal grilling, preparing the dining station by unloading food products and equipment needed, and cleaning food stations, carts, and pots and pans as needed. This position will assist with food preparation, service, and sanitation as directed by the supervisor. The Central Wisconsin Environmental Station (CWES) is one of three field stations ran by the College of Natural Resources and campus. CWES provides food service to summer campers, University of Wisconsin Stevens Point students in academic programs on-site, weekend rental groups, and an on-site charter school. Weekend and evening shifts and some holidays are required and shared with other food service employees.
This is a part-time position, averaging 20 hours per week.

Key Job Responsibilities:
Greets customers, answers questions, and provides basic information regarding food preparation and associated activities
Performs routine food preparation activities such as portioning, chopping food, and serving food to customers
Adheres to federal, state, and local food safety regulations, policies, and procedures
Prepares a variety of basic dishes such as sandwiches and salads, and assists in the preparation of more complex dishes
Cleans, inspects, and maintains kitchen equipment and work areas

The Central Wisconsin Environmental Station (CWES) is a 200-acre accessible year-round residential environmental education facility. Located on glacial Sunset Lake 17 miles east of Stevens Point in Amherst Junction, the station includes eight cabins, two lodges, one dining facility, one maintenance building, and two bathhouses. Its staff has been providing youth and adult programming to over 8,000 annual visitors since 1975, including an on-site charter school. In addition, weekend workshops, conferences, and retreats are hosted year-round. CWES is a field station of the College of Natural Resources (CNR), UW-Stevens Point, one of the largest comprehensive natural resources' undergraduate programs in North America.
Compensation:
$15.00-17.00 per hour
Required Qualifications:
Willingness to become SERV Safe certified.
Understanding of proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices.
Ability to follow recipes and prepare food accurately.
Ability to operate cooking and food preparation equipment.
Effective verbal communication for interacting with customers and team members.
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in a kitchen or dining setting.
Have a valid driver's license and a reliable source of independent transportation for periodic in-state work travel, and/or comply with requirements of the Travel and Expense Policy.
