PROtect, LLC is seeking individuals interested in building a career in the Oil and Gas Industry as a Environmental Monitoring and Mitigation (EMM) Apprentice. EMM Apprentices are trained, onsite in Whiting, IN, to minimize fugitive volatile organic compound (VOC) and hazardous air pollutant (HAP) emissions in compliance with the Environmental Protection Agencies (EPA) standards. The Apprentice will work alongside a Level II Technician to apply Leak Detection and Repair processes and practices defined in Method 21 using portable monitoring devices.
EMM Apprentices have the unique opportunity for on-the-job training, with pay increase availability based on earned certifications within the first 12 months of employment. POSITION PURPOSE
· EMM Apprentice will report directly to a Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) Manager, however, this position will also work closely with management to maintain customer requirements and satisfaction while verifying that the company's goals and standards are met.
· This position will be responsible for accurately monitoring components on an assigned route within an industrial facility. The LDAR Technician will also be responsible for calibrating equipment to ensure optimum performance of the analyzer, as well as identify leaks and process leak tags.
· The EMM Apprentice must use appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to develop effective partnerships to meet mutual goals and objectives, demonstrating a strong ability to analyze data, evaluate situations and identify problems or opportunities, including likely causes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
· Reporting any and all incidents, injuries, near misses, motor vehicle or any other unsafe condition or acts to supervisor and the Safety Department regardless of how minor they are.
· Responsible for monitoring components in an industrial environment to detect emissions from process equipment using a portable analyzer and electronic data collector
· Performs monitoring activities for an assigned route with an allotted amount of time, ensuring all components are accurately monitored and reported.
· Responsible for calibrating equipment to ensure optimum performance. Makes minor mechanical adjustments when situations arise.
· Identifying leaks and process leak tags.
· Completing daily upload of monitoring activity to the customer database and completes daily emissions monitoring reports- must have basic computer knowledge.
· Communicating daily leaks or potential issues with site personnel.
· Communicating/coordinating with plant personnel.
· Performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
Must be at least 18 years old, have high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Requirements
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
1-3 months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Basic PC skills, especially with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel)
Experience using PDA device and downloading data to a database is preferred
Prior experience in chemical plants or refineries is helpful but not required
Valid driver's license required

Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends when necessary. May be required to travel out of town on a periodic basis.
WORKING CONDITIONS
May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions, including working in inclement weather conditions (extreme heat/cold). This job may require lifting of up to 50 pounds occasionally. Ability to climb and work at heights of up to 300ft. Ability to climb scaffolding & walk up to 30 flights of stairs. Work at moderate to high levels of physical exertion for extended periods. Their work may involve risks to hazards such a working around moving mechanical parts; risk of electrical shock, explosives and vibration. The noise level in the work environment may exceed 85dB and will require the use of hearing protections. Applicants must meet weight restrictions to ensure their safety when utilizing safety harnesses.
SCHEDULE
This position follows a 4-10 schedule (four 10-hour shifts per week). Occasional overtime and weekend work may be required based on project needs.

Starting pay for entry-level technicians begins at $20/hour
$1,500 sign-on bonus available! ($500 paid at hire and $1,000 paid after 90 days upon successful completion of new hire training.)

Position Summary
Comer Corps Apprentices are young adults enrolled in one of GCYC's two US Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeships: Culinary Arts or Urban Farmer
The Community Urban Agriculture Team (Comer Crops) will provide youth and young adults with immersive experiences in community food systems, food sovereignty work, and other fields related to urban agriculture. The goal of the cohort is to promote environmental literacy and education, increasing individual agency within the local food system in order to build community resilience and decrease reliance on outside food sources. Comer Crops members will serve as “Green Ambassadors” and work on GCYC's 1.75-acre, onsite urban farm and other gardens, forging deeper connections to the earth while providing all community members increased access to healthy and fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs year-round.
The Francie Comer Culinary Apprenticeship is a two-year apprenticeship registered with the Department of Labor, to bring Culinary Art experiences and trainings to qualifying applicants. Apprentices will experience and learn about cooking, baking, recipe testing, safety and sanitation, and hospitality. Our goal for our apprentices is to be well prepared for employment across the culinary industry including but not limited to restaurants, catering, hotels, schools and cafeterias, and bakeries.

Electrician Apprentices receive comprehensive training to develop the skills necessary for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems and components on passenger railcars and locomotives. Training includes both formal classroom instruction and hands-on experience under the guidance of a certified Journeyman Electrician.
This is a union-represented position. Starting pay rates are determined by the entry-level provisions outlined in the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Metra is a railroad employer governed by the Railroad Retirement Tax Act (RRTA), and not the Social Security Administration.
