Our focus is safety, so our customers can focus on their jobs. Position Summary: The Traffic Control Apprentice is an entry level position. Primary duties are to help manage traffic around active work zones for road construction and utility crews. They use a paddle with "Stop" on one side and "Slow" on the other to signal drivers to slow down, stop, or proceed through the area. Often working alongside a crew leader and other apprentices, they coordinate traffic flow through communication, either via two-way radios or hand signals. In some cases, they may set up barricades, cones, vehicle placements, and other devices along the roadway to enhance safety. A Traffic Control Apprentice must possess a valid California Driver's License with a clean driving record. Their primary responsibility is to ensure the safety of motorists, pedestrians, cyclists, workers, and themselves while on the road. Essential Functions: • Maintain a consistent and unrelenting focus on safety throughout all job functions • Use traffic signals/signs, traffic plans, and customer requests to safely coordinate traffic flow around the work zone • Assist in managing day-to-day work zone set up, maintenance and tear down. Meeting or exceeding customer, state, federal regulations and company expectations • Communicate with customers, the public, and with other team members • Keep equipment in trucks well organized and in working order • Develop superior knowledge of work zone setup and Professional Flagging responsibilities • Provide the highest level of customer service to all customers. Install, alter, replace, and repair plumbing projects as required such as water, sewage, and drainage systems. Cut, bend, assemble, and install various pipes, fittings, and fixtures for water, sanitary, drainage, heating, gas, and other plumbing systems which involve the performance of hand, bench, and maintenance plumbing tasks. Install, alter, repair, or replace all plumbing fixtures. Thread, ream, assemble, caulk, solder, and weld various pipes and component parts. Install, alter, and repair valves, fittings, and other plumbing parts and equipment, including such items as hot water boilers, sterilizers, steam tables, sinks, thermal control apparatus, sprinkler heads, hydrants, and service pipes. Repair and install new water/drainage lines and waste/sewage pipes. Check plumbing fixtures for leaks and other defects, opening and cleaning clogged drains, pipes, and traps. Advise on selecting, ordering, and storing plumbing supplies and equipment. Electrical Tech: Duties/Responsibilities: Installs and repairs electrical wiring, systems, and fixtures in buildings. Installs conduits and pipes to house electrical wires and cables. Ensures piping complies with electrical codes. Trouble shutting for diagnose repairs. Installs circuit breakers and other electrical hardware and connects wiring to them. Connects electrical systems to powerlines to provide electricity to the building. Tests electrical systems to ensure proper installation and operation. Inspects electrical systems to determine whether repairs are needed. Replaces conduit and wiring as needed. Replaces circuit breakers as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned. You will play a vital role in transporting, operating and the servicing of assigned heavy equipment used in clearing railroad derailments by lifting and moving derailed railway cars and locomotives. What You'll Do: * Drive tractor-trailer or escort vehicles. * Material handling of heavy steel chains, blocks and steel cables, and other devices. * Climbing and crawling on and under derailed railroad cars. * Maintenance, cleaning and setup of equipment requiring use of small and large tools including cutting torch and welding. * Digging, hammering, and other physical types of work with various tools * Lifting 100 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects up to 50 lbs. * Work at heights over 25 feet on railroad cars; may be on bridges, over water, or in water.
