The Machinist Apprentice works numerous areas of the machine shop mentoring on the machines, systems, and processes under machinist guidance.
Candidates considered for this position will be expected to have a plan to attend a college level program for a degree or certificate in machining/advanced machining while working at UMC, Inc. Responsibilities
The primary duties and responsibilities of the Machinist Apprentice 1st Year consist of but are not limited to:
Manage a reasonable work schedule that doesn't affect grades, performs assigned tasks from mentor safely with good quality ratings and reasonable productivity output
Observes and/or performs hands on work based on mentor's comfort level on apprentice's comprehension of safety, quality, and demonstrated good work ethics to perform tasks
Good communication with Manager and Supervisor of Production on current grades, work status, and scheduling conflicts with schoolwork
Work with manager(s) and mentors on how to operate various machines in the organization
Requirements:
Education and Experience
Registered or current first year student in a machining program
Displays strong mechanical aptitude, cultural adeptness, willingness to learn/grow within the company, commitment to two-year machining degree or similar education path, long term commitment to a career in machine trades

Timeframe - the program is designed to include four years' worth of instruction. This time can be adjusted if a participant has applicable experience and can “test out” of certain components within the program. There is a 500-hour probationary period.

Individuals will be trained Monday-Friday 7am-3pm and then assigned to a crew to work rotating shifts. Rotating shift work involves working 7 consecutive days of an 8am-4pm shift followed by 3 days off, then working 7 consecutive days of a 12mid-8am shift followed by 2 days off and then working 7 consecutive days of a 4pm-12mid shift followed by two days off and then starting back on the 8-4 shift. This amounts to working 21 days with 7 days off in a 28-day cycle.
The apprenticeship is an 8,000-hour program and is governed by federally approved national standards. Those who are hired will be required to complete a minimum of 144 hours of approved classroom training each twelve months. Classroom training is through local technical schools. These classes are taken during your non-working hours, and you are not paid while attending. All courses, textbooks and fees will be paid at 100% by Anchor Glass Container.

Requirements for Carpenter Apprentice:
Candidate must have carpentry interest and or must be able to perform basic carpentry skills
Must have a valid Drivers License with clear driving record.
Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
Must be available for occasional overtime, sometimes on an emergency basis.
Willingness to work outside in varying temperatures and elements, should you be assigned exterior responsibilities; such as, framing, window installation, and deck building. Some exceptions - by jobs.
Must be able to work in a team setting

Hulcher Services is seeking a motivated and success-driven Apprentice Operator I. You will play a vital role in transporting, operating and the servicing of assigned heavy equipment used in clearing railroad derailments by lifting and moving derailed railway cars and locomotives.

What You'll Do:
Drive tractor-trailer or escort vehicles.
Material handling of heavy steel chains, blocks and steel cables, and other devices.
Climbing and crawling on and under derailed railroad cars.
Maintenance, cleaning and setup of equipment requiring use of small and large tools including cutting torch and welding.
Digging, hammering, and other physical types of work with various tools
Lifting 100 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects up to 50 lbs.
Work at heights over 25 feet on railroad cars; may be on bridges, over water, or in water.

What You Bring:
Must have a valid Class A CDL with NO restrictions.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Ability to work on-call 24/7 365 days a year in an emergency response environment.
Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
Ability to conduct maintenance inspections on equipment.
Work Schedule:
Monday through Sunday on the job or possibly at division.
On call for 24 hours for derailments requiring immediate response.
8-hours/day Monday through Friday; on call at other times for derailments requiring immediate response.
The Response Team is to be available at all times and all hours of the day.
