Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices.
Visa sponsorship: We do sponsor visas. However, we aren\'t able to successfully sponsor visas for every role and every candidate. But if we make you an offer, we will make every reasonable effort to get you a visa, and we retain an immigration lawyer to help with this.
We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification. Not all strong candidates will meet every single qualification as listed. Research shows that people who identify as being from underrepresented groups are more prone to experiencing imposter syndrome and doubting the strength of their candidacy, so we urge you not to exclude yourself prematurely and to submit an application if you\'re interested in this work. We think AI systems like the ones we\'re building have enormous social and ethical implications. We think this makes representation even more important, and we strive to include a range of diverse perspectives on our team.
How we\'re different
We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. We value impact - advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI - rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We\'re an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.
Come work with us!
Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues. Trunk Tools
Architect job in New York, NY
At Trunk Tools, we're the leading AI company revolutionizing construction-the second-largest industry on earth. We recently raised a $40M Series B led by Insight Partners, bringing our total funding to $70M from top-tier investors including Redpoint and Innovation Endeavors. This new round is fueling our next phase of growth as we scale AI agents across the jobsite.
Our mission is to build the future of construction through intelligent automation. Despite being a $13+ trillion industry, construction still runs largely on analog processes-we're changing that by embedding AI directly into field operations.
Founded by builders and technologists (Stanford, MIT), our team has delivered software used by over 140,000 field professionals, impacting millions of users and contributing to $10B+ in built projects. Many of us come from the field ourselves, giving us a deep understanding of the industry's unique challenges.
After years of building the “brain” of construction, we're now launching production-ready AI agents-starting with intelligent document processing and Q&A, and rapidly expanding into core operational workflows. Our team has doubled in the past year, and with 65+ employees (25+ engineers), we're scaling fast and entering a period of hypergrowth-this is a rare opportunity to join at an inflection point.
The Role
As an Engagement Architect, you'll be on the ground helping our most strategic customers implement AI agents that transform how they build. This is a high‑touch, embedded role where you'll spend 2‑3 days per week onsite at major construction projects, working shoulder‑to‑shoulder with project teams and leaders to identify pain points, configure, and deploy solutions to deliver impact.
You'll bridge the worlds of construction operations and AI‑powered technology-translating field realities into technical requirements, creating compelling work products that demonstrate ROI, and ensuring our solutions integrate seamlessly into the clients daily workflows. This role combines the strategic thinking of consulting with the hands‑on execution of construction, requiring both industry knowledge and the ability to move fast in ambiguity.
What You'll Do
Deploy Solutions Onsite: Embed with customer teams at active jobsites to understand pain points, issues, roadblocks, and configure Trunk Tools' AI agents for specific use cases to ensure successful adoption across project teams
Capture Clear Impact: Develop Excel models, PowerPoint presentations, process documentation, and custom automation solutions to quantify and track value while guiding implementation
Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Sales, Customer Success, Product, and Strategy teams to align on customer needs, prioritize features, and deliver seamless integration
Communicate Across Contexts: Adapt your communication style to engage effectively with stakeholders ranging from executives to field engineers, translating technical solutions into business value
Drive Execution: Independently initiate and manage workstreams from scoping through delivery, making data‑driven decisions and maintaining exceptional organization across multiple concurrent engagements
Apply Construction Expertise: Leverage your understanding of capital project lifecycles-from design through closeout-to anticipate challenges and design solutions that align with what the project team needs to unlock efficiency
Who You Are
Construction Experience: 2‑3 years as a Project Engineer or Project Manager on capital construction projects, with firsthand knowledge of construction workflows, documentation, and the realities of field execution
Consulting Background: 2‑3 years as a consultant with experience structuring complex problems, creating executive‑ready deliverables, and managing stakeholder relationships
Proactive & Organized: You're a self‑starter who identifies what needs to happen and executes independently, with exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple engagements simultaneously
Analytical & Data‑Driven: You make decisions based on facts and logical reasoning, and can craft polished work products that articulate evidence‑based outcomes
Comfortable with Ambiguity: You thrive in fast‑moving environments, bringing structured thinking to complex, undefined problems
Travel‑Ready: You're energized by onsite work and comfortable with regular travel (40‑50%) to be embedded where construction happens
What We Value
Customer empathy: You care about getting the right outcomes and building trust over time
Structured thinking: You bring clarity to ambiguity and thrive in complexity
Proactivity & ownership: You identify gaps, raise your hand, and make it yours
Data orientation: You measure success, iterate fast, and ground decisions in real impact
Builder mindset: You're energized by creating new playbooks, not just following them
Work Location
Hybrid, requiring regular travel (40‑50%) to client sites and team colocation.
Compensation
Negotiable based on experience
What we offer
A close‑knit and collaborative early‑stage startup environment where every voice is heard and every opinion matters
