1936

1972

In 1972, ACS moved to its existing home in Woody Creek.

1995

In 1995, ACS became a public charter school of the Aspen School District.

2005

School began on August 21, 2005, with 100 students in Pre-Kindergarten through the 4th Grade.

By 2007, enrollment had exceeded the space's capacity, which prompted the purchase of a larger facility.

2009

In 2009, Bears' Student Enterprises was founded and is an entirely student-managed entity that houses the 8th Graders’ businesses.

2012

In 2012, the Aspen Youth Leadership Institute was founded.

2014

In 2014, our Head of School was featured in an episode of the PBS Series, “Exceptionary Women.”

2020

In March of 2020, within 12 hours of Governor Jared Polis’ request that schools across Colorado close their campuses, Aspen Academy’s team pivoted its entire learning platform to a digital model and by the next school day (Monday), students were fully engaged in virtual classes.

2021

Future Holders, founded at Aspen Academy launched an app for students worldwide in 2021 and hopes to reach 56 million students in the US alone.
