Job Description
Under general supervision, the Transmission and Distribution Line Worker performs skilled line work in the installation, construction, maintenance and repair of overhead and underground line for power lines and/or high voltage overhead transmission and distribution lines, as well as rigging blocks, splicing wires and operating hydraulic lift buckets, and performs related duties as required.
The essential duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Installs, repairs, and maintains high tension overhead transmission systems, related feeder lines, towers and poles; performs such maintenance activities when lines are energized as well as de-energized.
2. Maintains, operates, and adjusts electrical transmission and primary power substations ranging from 600 to 230,000 voltage, including circuit breakers, relays, batteries, and controls.
3. Installs and maintains underground and overhead power lines and feeders and related auxiliary equipment; locates and isolates faulty sections and removes, installs and makes corrections where necessary.
4. Installs watt-hour meter systems, connects potential transformers, current transformers, phase shifting transformers, test switches, reactive meters, and demand meters.
5. Maintains, operates, and repairs high voltage street light system.
6. Installs and maintains street lighting systems including circuits, poles, arms, and luminaries.
7. Tests, inspects, repairs, and replaces overhead and underground transmission and distribution lines and circuits.
8. Maintains utility power generation and transmission systems, and related components, including circuit breakers, relays, switches, and fuses, transformers, busses, and underground cables, feeders, and associated equipment.
9. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Two years of verifiable work experience as a journey-level line worker, with pole and transmission systems ranging from 600 to 230,000volts, with responsibility for construction, installation, maintenance and repair of overhead and underground lines; OR
Completion of a State certified electrical line apprenticeship program; AND
License: Possession of a current, valid Class C California Driver's license. Positions located at Moccasin require a Class A Driver's license within six (6) months of appointment; positions located in San Francisco require a Class B Driver's license with six (6) months of appointment. Failure to obtain the appropriate driver's license within the specified time period will be cause for termination
One year of full-time employment is equivalent to 2000 hours. (2000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40-hour work week.) Any overtime hours that you work above forty (40) hours per week are not included in the calculation to determine full-time employment.

Training and Experience Evaluation (Weight: 100%): Candidates who meet minimum qualifications will be invited via a separate link to complete the Training and Experience Evaluation. The purpose of the Training and Experience Evaluation is to evaluate the experience, knowledge, skills and abilities that candidates possess in job-related areas which have been identified as critical for this position and include, but are not limited to:
Knowledge of: the theory of electricity, particularly as applied to overhead and underground lines, including high voltage transmission lines; line construction and maintenance methods and procedures, including California State PUC General Order Number 95; standard safety practices and procedures utilized in the field, including practical application of pole-top resuscitation and first aid techniques; electrical terminology needed to understand the functions and workings of electrically controlled equipment.
Ability to: analyze and locate malfunctions in lines and make necessary repairs; read and interpret plans and drawings; use tools and techniques to work on energized and de-energized lines; handle and operate high voltage testing equipment and high voltage switchgears and transformers; and deal courteously, effectively with representatives of other agencies and other City Departments.
Skill in the application of electrical theory and practice to field maintenance and repair problems; in climbing high poles and towers; in using rigging techniques applicable to transmission line work.
A passing score must be achieved in order to continue in the selection process and be placed on the eligible list.
Candidates will be placed on the eligible list in rank order according to their final score. Candidate scores on this examination may also be applied to other announcements involving other job titles, when directed by the Human Resources Director.
The department may administer additional position-specific selection procedures to make final hiring decisions.
Eligible List/Score Report: A confidential eligible list of applicant names that have passed the civil service examination process will be created, and used for certification purposes only. Job Description
Project: Intervening Electric Distribution
The objective of the project is to complete a total of 120 intervening electric distribution work orders at various municipal locations throughout the City and County of San Francisco. The 7350 Transmission and Distribution Line Workers are expected to complete 40 work orders per year for the next three years.
Under general supervision, the 7350 leads and performs journey level skilled line work in the installation and construction of high voltage overhead transmission and underground distribution lines, as well as rigging blocks, splicing wires and operating hydraulic lift buckets, and other related duties as required. This position will perform emergency response to power outages and damaged equipment as well as perform street light O&M and emergency repair.
Essential Functions:
Installs, repairs, and maintains high tension overhead transmission systems, related feeder lines, towers and poles; performs such maintenance activities when lines are energized as well as de-energized.
Maintains, operates, and adjusts electrical transmission and primary power substations ranging from 600 to 230,000 voltage, including circuit breakers, relays, batteries, and controls.
Installs and maintains underground and overhead power lines and feeders and related auxiliary equipment; locates and isolates faulty sections and removes, installs and makes corrections where necessary.
Installs watt-hour meter systems, connects potential transformers, current transformers, phase shifting transformers, test switches, reactive meters, demand meters, and watt hour meters.
Maintains, operates, and repairs high voltage street light system.
Installs, repairs, and maintains high tension overhead transmission systems, related feeder lines, towers and poles; performs maintenance activities when lines are energized as well as de-energized.
Installs and maintains street lighting systems including circuits, poles, arms, and luminaries.
Tests, inspects, repairs, and replaces overhead and underground transmission and distribution lines and circuits.
Maintains utility power generation and transmission systems, and related components, including circuit breakers, relays, switches, and fuses, transformers, busses, and underground cables, feeders, and associated equipment.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
1. Two years of verifiable work experience as a journey-level line worker, with pole and transmission systems ranging from 600 to 230,000volts, with responsibility for construction, installation, maintenance and repair of overhead and underground lines; OR
Completion of a State certified electrical line apprenticeship program; AND
2. Possession of a current, valid Class C California Driver's license. Positions located at Moccasin require a Class A Driver's license within six (6) months of appointment; positions located in San Francisco require a Class B Driver's license with six (6) months of appointment
. Failure to obtain the appropriate driver's license within the specified time period will be cause for termination
One year of full-time employment is equivalent to 2000 hours. (2000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40-hour work week.) Any overtime hours that you work above forty (40) hours per week are not included in the calculation to determine full-time employment.

Description:
This is a temporary position. You will be responsible for the manufacturing and preparation of assemblies for operations and R&D medical devices. May develop into more complex manufacturing processes such as bonding and electrical soldering and assembly processes. Part of a small manufacturing and R&D team with daily interactions with engineers and technicians. This is a full time on-site position and will require reporting to our offices located in Los Gatos, CA.
Responsibilities, Skills & Hands-On Experience:
* Apply adhesives to small components using needles, EFD dispensers, and syringes.
* Utilizes various techniques for bonding different materials with heat, lamination, UV cure processes.
* Perform manufacturing processes and inspections under a microscope.
* Solders small parts and wires to printed circuit boards and completes re-work.
* Follow Manufacturing Process Instructions (MPIs) to build and inspect medical devices. Fill out design history files (DHR) as required.
* Work on several different batches at different manufacturing processes throughout the day.
* Communicate and document issues and observations with supervisor and engineers.
* Comply with production control requirements including those related to environmental controls, CER requirements, hygiene, documentation, and procedural compliance.
* Support the Quality System and Quality Policy. Be aware of Quality System procedures, requirements, and training requirements. Inform responsible personnel of concerns involving product quality.
* Ability to read and interpret bill of materials (BOM) and accurately pick materials required for scheduled work orders.
* Reviews work orders and ensure appropriate level of materials, tools, equipment, and resources are available for production functions.
* Completes in-process-inspection to ensure product meets work instruction specifications, quality attributes and reports variances immediately to lead/supervisor.
* Responsible for assigned production efficiency, productivity and accuracy of items produced to minimize backlog. Meets or exceeds standard rates.
* Maintains the cleanliness, organization, quality control and safety of work area.
* Follows safe working practices and wears required personal protective equipment.
* Mechanical aptitude and skills using hand tools, small power tools and soldering iron.
* Ability to read and interpret schematics, prints and engineering documentation.
* Skill in performing basic mathematical calculations.
* Ability to distinguish colors for color coding practices.
* Ability to perform detailed repetitive tasks for prolonged periods of time.

Education & Work Experience:
* High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate.
* Experience in a manufacturing/assembly work-related environment required.
* HS diploma (AA degree preferred) or equivalent experience in technical discipline and a minimum of 5 years (3 with AA) in medical device manufacturing.
* Experience with 5S manufacturing.
* Experience with medical device manufacturing including following good manufacturing practice (GDP).
Our salary ranges are calculated by role, level, and location. Please note that your position within that range will be determined by your job-related knowledge, location, skills, experience, relevant education, and training/certifications. The pay rate for this temporary position is between $27-$32 per hour.
