At ST Engineering MRAS, we are also rapidly augmenting our maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capabilities leveraging the companys expanded aircraft nacelle portfolio as well as its materials and processing expertise. What YOU will do: Perform complex assembly and/or installation operations involving fitting and adjusting parts and assemblies of major production sub-assemblies* or complete minor assemblies**, to checkout minor assembly tools; and/or to perform the more difficult types of riveting. To perform this function in accordance with the following duties. You will perform this function in accordance with the following duties: Works from blueprints, tool write-ups, lofts, sketches, verbal information, etc. to perform assigned duties. Performs assembly of a major production subassembly* and operations of similar complexity where the work involves assembly or installation without the aid of tools, or the existing tools do not locate all parts and assemblies and the specifications necessitate fitting and adjusting of parts or details, coordinating of location of many details and similar duties. Determines location, position, accuracy of fit, conformity to contour, etc., of parts and assemblies by comparison with blueprints and/or lofts. Reams holes where no tool is provided, or where extremely close tolerances must be held. Fairs outer surfaces where the contour of the work surface is formed into compound angles and reverse curves by working the frames or sunken areas into smooth contour and correct position. Performs the more difficult types of riveting operations including riveting in areas where accessibility is very difficult. Suggests and uses special types of bucking bars and/or riveting tools as required to accomplish assigned tasks. Adjusts and operates Drivematic, Erco, and similar riveting machines. Makes repairs, replacements and alterations in accordance with engineering and/or Quality Control requirements on work performed by self or other employees when such operations entail work as specified above. Prepares surface areas for the application of adhesive and/or sealing compounds by wiping clean with solvent. Applies primer and adhesive to surface, installs parts and material, and assures proper fit. Seals parts by applying proper sealant, lays parts together and uses clamps, screws and fasteners as required. Visually checks parts to assure proper application of sealant. Performs initial assembly of parts in minor assembly tools to ascertain location, fit, clearance, etc., of parts in tool and to prove the method and sequence of work operations. Uses check tools, fixtures, inspection gauges, and precision measuring devices to acquire product acceptance data. Enters such data into the Improved Inspection System (IIS). Make necessary mathematical calculations to determine dimensions such as thickness, depth, angle, tapers, arcs, volumes, areas and physical characteristics such as elongation, shear strength, etc. Notify manufacturing/supervision and/or higher classified personnel of any such deviations or defects occurring in an area and identify needs for remedial actions. - Inspect shipment and shipping paperwork such as Government/Customer shipping documents, contracts waivers/deviations, packaging and preservation information and the like to applicable specifications and sign to verify acceptance by Quality Control. - Perform first piece, patrol, sampling, PCA (Physical Conjuration Audit) and final inspection on a variety of complete electro-mechanical LRU's, Systems and fabricated mechanical assemblies. Visually inspect for factors such as shaft and bearing alignment, sliding fits and alignments and conformance to appropriate electrical assembly specifications and standards. Assist higher classified inspection personnel in performing first article inspection. - Inspect castings and forging where prior sample approval has been given. Inspect machined parts and Sheetmetal fabrications of a complex nature which are characterized by such factors as many related dimensions, a variety of arcs, curves, and compound angles, irregular contours and an absence of locating surfaces, to assure conformity to quality specifications. - Inspect spotwelded and/or fusion welded assemblies for dimension and weld quality. Check set-up of spotwelding equipment including time, pressure and current controls of machines, tip size and shape. Periodically witness result of micro-tech and mechanical tests for penetration strength and location of weld. Perform non-destructive inspection such as dye penetrant, magnetic particle, ultrasonic and review of X-ray film of electronic assemblies also to identify imperfections. - Perform first piece tool and tape inspection approvals where procedures have been established and the approval consists of inspecting pieces that is within the complexity of this description. This would include such approvals as electronic cable form boards, manufacturing product samples, mill and/or drill tools, Sheetmetal templates and the like. - Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition and maintain records of equipment calibrated. Scope Under general direction from the Production Supervisor, the Assembler is responsible for safely assembling finished product using components, sub-assemblies, fasteners and packaging material following all SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures) and compliance with all quality and regulatory requirements. Essential Functions * Review and follow all SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures), Work Instructions, and/or drawings to determine required assembly finish on product, pack and any special options to completion. * Check and maintain accurate inventory of sub-assemblies, parts and fasteners to complete production orders. * Ability to safely operate power and hand tools to complete assigned tasks, as well as operate controls and safety stops on machines. * Follow all Company safety policies, rules and procedures at all times; maintain a strong safety mindset. Always wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) for work being performed. * Accurate completion of all documentation and production reporting following Company and Quality guidelines. Maintain accurate record of time spent and material used within established standards. * Perform basic arithmetic calculations for accurate production reporting. * Maintain a clean work environment aligned with Company standards. * Operate scan guns for production order processes and inventory. * Work and communicate in a team environment and/or independently as needed to achieve successful production and quality goals. * Promptly raise any safety, quality or production issues to appropriate parties, and work with support functions to quickly resolve issues. * Ability to cross train and rotate between various areas within the department throughout the shift. * Meet all production output goals as aligned with PPLH (Parts Per Labor Hour) standards and budget targets. * Assist with training new full time and/or temporary employees as needed in compliance with all safety, quality and production policies, rules and procedures. * All other duties as assigned. Certifications/Licensing: * N/A Years and Type of Experience: * Assembler I - Entry level position; can assemble, test, calibrate where applicable 25% or better of all products within respective cost center. * Assembler II - Previous manufacturing experience preferred; can assemble, test, calibrate where applicable 50% or better of all products within respective cost center. * Assembler III - Previous manufacturing experience preferred; can assemble, test, calibrate where applicable all products within respective cost center. Can assemble, test, calibrate where applicable at least 25% of production in non-assigned cost centers. SME (Subject Matter Expert) for assigned area(s) of responsibility.
