Rate / Starting At: $19.73 The Flexible Assembler V reports to the appropriate Supervisor and serves as a senior-level assembler and technical resource within assembly operations. This role builds upon the full scope of responsibilities performed at the Flexible Assembler II, III, and IV levels, with added emphasis on leadership support, advanced assembly and testing capabilities, cross-training, and coordination of production activities (skills listed below). The Flexible Assembler V assists the Supervisor in maintaining production flow, quality standards, and workforce effectiveness while continuing to perform complex hands-on assembly, calibration, inspection, and testing tasks. Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Advanced Assembly, Calibration, and Testing * Perform complex assembly, calibration, and testing operations on subassemblies and finished products using written and verbal instructions, including BOMs, routings, work instructions, engineering drawings, and samples. * Assemble products across a wide variety of customer configurations and production volumes using hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment, test equipment, and machining processes (turning, milling, drilling, threading, presses, spot welders, shears, etc.). * Perform soldering and desoldering operations where required, expanding upon Flexible Assembler IV capabilities. * Conduct final product testing and inspections to ensure compliance with established quality and performance standards. * Perform product calibrations using standardized instruments such as flow meters, pressure gauges, volt/ohmmeters, load test benches, pressure calibration stands, and flow test stands. Quality, Inspection, and Troubleshooting * Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, and plug gauges. * Read and interpret engineering prints and specifications. * Troubleshoot and resolve routine and advanced production issues related to assembly quality, component fit/function, tooling, equipment, or test failures. * Communicate quality or production concerns that could impact delivery schedules or product performance to the Supervisor and Quality Control Engineering. Leadership Support and Workforce Development * Assist the Supervisor in assigning assemblers to workstations to meet daily and scheduled production requirements. * Support and participate in cross-training employees in sub-assembly fabrication, assembly, inspection, testing, packing, warehousing, machining, and cleaning operations. * Aid in directing setup activities by ensuring required parts, tools, fixtures, jigs, and work instructions are available and properly used. * Provide on-the-job guidance and instruction to assemblers to ensure proper assembly methods, safety, and quality standards are followed. * Serve as a temporary fill-in for the Line Leader when required, maintaining positive employee relations and reinforcing company policies. Production Coordination and Documentation * Advise the Supervisor of material shortages and assist with estimating labor needs, lead times, and order completion schedules. * Prepare material requisitions and maintenance work requests as needed * Maintain assembly prints, parts lists, and basic inventory records, including minimum and maximum stock levels. * Accurately record production data, including serial numbers, date codes, inspection results, labor allocation, timecards, and operator logs. * Perform basic computer data entry and review simple charts or graphs related to productivity, quality, safety, or warranty data. * Workplace Organization and Safety * Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area by supporting 5S and continuous improvement initiatives. * Ensure unused parts are returned to inventory and tools are properly stored and maintained. * Care for, repair, and properly use all assigned hand tools, fixtures, and measuring equipment. * Perform all duties in accordance with established safety, quality, and labor standards in a fast-paced shop-floor environment.
