Summary
We are seeking a Director of Quality Assurance to lead the QA discipline for our flagship consumer products, ABCMouse and Adventure Academy. This role is ideal for a strategic and technically adept leader passionate about quality, accountability, and continuous improvement. You will oversee the full QA ecosystem, spanning manual and automated testing, observability, and release readiness, ensuring that every build meets the highest standards of reliability, performance, and user satisfaction.
This leader will elevate how QA is executed and measured at Age of Learning, building better traceability from requirements to releases. Responsibilities
Own and evolve the QA strategy across both ABCMouse and Adventure Academy, balancing manual and automated testing to maximize coverage and reliability.
Establish end‑to‑end traceability between requirements, test cases, and production outcomes, ensuring full visibility into what was tested and why.
Analyze and optimize test coverage, identifying gaps across device types, features, and performance tiers to align testing with user demographics.
Drive continuous improvement in test documentation, defect triage, and regression analysis to reduce escaped bugs and improve release confidence.
Oversee automation strategy and roadmap, identifying high‑value automation opportunities while ensuring manual testing complements automation effectively.
Integrate QA into CI/CD pipelines, maintaining efficient pre‑release validation and post‑deployment verification processes.
Leverage observability and customer feedback tools (APM, CSAT, app reviews) to surface quality issues proactively and inform QA priorities.
Define and monitor quality metrics, ensuring QA effectiveness is measurable and actionable across teams and releases.
Lead and mentor a cross‑functional QA team, fostering accountability, technical excellence, and a shared culture of quality.
Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and release management to align QA processes with development velocity and business goals.
Minimum Qualifications
8+ years in QA or software testing roles, including hands‑on test design, execution, and automation.
3+ years in QA leadership or management roles, overseeing teams and frameworks.
Strong technical understanding of modern QA tools, automation frameworks, and scripting or programming relevant to testing.
Proven experience with both manual (functional, exploratory) and automated (UI, API, integration, E2E) testing methodologies.
Demonstrated success integrating QA with CI/CD pipelines and release processes.
Solid understanding of test management systems (TestRail) and version control (Git).
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate QA insights into business impact.
Proven ability to improve traceability, test coverage visibility, and cross‑team accountability.
Preferred Qualifications
Deep hands‑on experience with automation stacks such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium/WebDriver, Appium, or Pytest.
Experience scaling QA operations and automation frameworks in large consumer‑facing or SaaS environments.
Background in mobile and web testing for educational or gaming products.
Familiarity with observability tools and APM platforms for post‑deployment validation.

Total Compensation
The estimated salary range for a new hire in this position is $150,000 to $185,000 USD, depending on factors such as knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on overall company performance and individual contributions.

Serve as administrative liaison to the Board of Directors Start-Up Company Advisory Committee, including setting the agenda for all committee meetings in consultation with the committee chair.
Track, report, and communicate outcomes of the technology commercialization portfolio to NYGC leadership.
Represent NYGC in external partnerships, consortia, and translational initiatives across regional and national innovation ecosystems.

Requirements & Qualifications
A Bachelor of Science degree (preferably in the biological sciences) is required; an advanced degree in a STEM field, business or related discipline (PhD, MBA or JD) is strongly preferred.
Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in technology transfer, IP management, research commercialization, or academic-industry relations, with at least five (5) years in a supervisory or management role.
Proven track record in managing complex IP portfolios and developing IP strategies.
Demonstrated expertise and advanced knowledge of U.S. patent law, and current trends, policies and best practices affecting academic technology transfer and commercialization.
Proven success in identifying commercialization pathways and negotiating complex licensing agreements; Strong analytical skills for market assessment and strategic problem-solving.
Strong familiarity with federal funding mechanisms (e.g., SBIR/STTR), research compliance, and startup incubation.
Superior negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to successfully work with academic faculty, researchers and collaborating institutions while balancing mission-driven and commercial priorities.
Preferred:
Experience in genomics, bioinformatics, or related fields
Strong familiarity with nonprofit research organizations and complex academic-industry collaborations.
Registered Technology Transfer Professional (RTTP) or Certified Licensing Professional (CLP) certification strongly preferred.

Work Flexibility
NYGC has established a flexible work policy to give employees and other staff more ability to balance their work, personal commitments, and commuting challenges. The incumbent in this position is eligible for a flexible work schedule or hybrid remote work arrangement (minimum of three days per week working onsite) with supervisory approval. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
Salary & Benefits
The pay range for this position is $210,000 - $250,000 per year; the base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

The New York Genome Center (NYGC) is an independent, nonprofit, academic research organization dedicated to advancing genomic research. NYGC scientists and staff are furthering new approaches to diagnosing and treating neurological diseases and cancer through their unique capabilities in whole genome sequencing, RNA sequencing, state-of-the art analytics, and the development of genomic tools. What you will do

Be on the front-line of working with Hex end users throughout the Sales cycle from discovery and product demos through trials, and proofs of concept

Who you might be
You might be a fit for this role if you have:
2-3+ years of experience in a technical pre-sales role
Experience working with Mid Market customers (250-2500 employees)
Experience with land POC/Technical Sales Motions
Familiarity with data science tooling and workflows, including Python, SQL, and BI tools (Bonus points if you have spent lots of time in notebooks, SQL IDEs, or app-building frameworks.)
A strong track record of talking to customers - from IC users to senior stakeholders - and solving their problems
You're an excellent communicator who builds empathy, shares feedback, and grows successful relationships with internal and external stakeholders
A generalist technical skillset: you don't need a CS degree, but should have a passion and interest for technology and be a creative problem solver
