Job Description POSITIONS AVAILABLE: 2 PRIMARY FUNCTION: Operate one or several types of power construction equipment including but not limited to motor-graders, bulldozers, rubber tire backhoes or trackhoes, rollers, articulated dump truck drivers, front-end loaders or hydraulic excavators to excavate, move, and grade earth, erect structures, or pour concrete, asphalt, or other hard surface pavement on road beds, parking lots, airport runways and taxiways. May perform minor repairs and maintain equipment in addition to other duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Fine Grade-Dozer Operator Load and move dirt, rocks, equipment, or other materials, using trucks, power cranes, shovels, or related equipment. Start machine, engage clutch, and push and move levers, switches, and pedals to guide machine along forms or guidelines and to control the operation of machine attachments, such as blades, buckets, scrapers, or swing booms. Drive and maneuver equipment equipped with blades in successive passes over working areas to remove topsoil, vegetation, or rocks or to distribute and level earth or terrain. Operate machines to spread, smooth, level, or steel-reinforce stone, concrete, or asphalt on road beds or other job sites as needed. Operate tamping machines or manually roll surfaces to compact earth fills, foundation forms, and finished road materials, according to grade specifications. Observe grade in order to adjust machine settings and indicate low spots for workers to add material. Conduct documented pre-shift inspections of equipment for safety and mechanical defects. Work long, flexible hours as demanded by our customers including nights, weekends, and work outside for extended periods during all seasons of the year. Align machines, cutter heads, or depth gauge makers with reference stakes and guidelines or ground or position equipment, following hand signals of other workers. Coordinate machine actions with other activities, positioning or moving loads in response to hand or audio signals from crew members. Inspect, clean, maintain, and repair equipment, using mechanics' hand tools. Conduct pre-shift inspections and report any concerns or malfunctions to supervisors. Learn and follow safety regulations. POSITIONS AVAILABLE: 3 PRIMARY FUNCTION: With minimal direct supervision, will operate a concrete mixer truck on public streets and highways as well as construction sites to transport and deliver concrete material. Suitable candidates are required to have valid CDL Class A or B North Carolina Driver's license and good driving record. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Ready Mix Concrete Truck Driver 1.) Climb on, over and around a company vehicle in order to perform pre/post trip vehicle inspections as well as to secure loads. 2.) Climb up and down concrete mixer trucks using ladder, doing repetitive motion to inspect concrete mix consistencies and perform Quality Control checks. 3.) Lift truck hoods, product or equipment and tools necessary to perform inspection, repair, loading and unloading of trucks. 4.) Support and assist shop personnel with any required repairs. 5.) Wash trucks, clean truck cabs, climb up and down truck washing facilities. 6.) Operate the vehicle in a safe, lawful and courteous manner at all times. 7.) JOB AREA: Wilmington, NC POSITIONS: 1 PRIMARY FUNCTION: The efficient management of assigned projects or operations. Position has direct responsibility for personnel, equipment, scheduling, safety, quality workmanship and completion of assigned projects on time and within estimated budget. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Heavy Highway Grade Division Foreman 1.) Supervise, direct and motivate crew to assure completion of assigned project as instructed by the superintendent, assistant superintendent, and/or the project manager. 2.) Ensure that new personnel are adequately trained in company policies, safety requirements and job responsibilities. 3.) Conduct thorough periodic evaluation of assigned personnel with special emphasis on their contribution to the company and our contribution to them. 4.) Assist and direct crews in proper use of equipment, improving job performance, controlling cost and quality of work, increasing productivity, improving communication and housekeeping on project. 5.) Perform equipment inspections, request maintenance and repairs following the company TPR program. 6.) Monitor crews and maintain regular work hours. Control traffic passing near, in, and around work zones (if certified to do so). Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, and compact and level earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, and rakes. Load and unload construction materials, machinery, and tools. Perform necessary work while complying with all company policies and procedures. Cutting of concrete pipe, boxes, ductile iron, and PVC. Perform additional duties as required or directed by their immediate supervisor or other manager. Must have predictable and reliable attendance. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education: High School diploma or GED preferred, but not required. Must be a minimum of 18 years old Work Experience: Minimum 1 year working as a pipe layer or as a member of a pipe crew. Heavy Physical Demands: Heavy physical effort required including pulling and lifting or moving heavy weight material with frequent lifting or moving materials or equipment (over 80 pounds). Physical Activity: Position requires the ability to continuously work around any or all of the following: noise, dust, heat, cold, oil and heavy equipment. Personal protective equipment is normally required of the position.
