Roll silverware, set up food stations or set up dining areas to prepare for the next shift or for large parties. Stock service areas with supplies such as food, tableware, and linens. Explain to guests how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods. Prepare tables for meals, including setting up items such as linens, silverware, and glassware. Remove dishes and glasses from tables or counters, and take them to kitchen for cleaning. Assist host or hostess by answering phones to take reservations or to-go orders, and by greeting, seating, and thanking guests. Perform cleaning duties, such as sweeping and mopping floors, vacuuming carpet, tidying up server station, taking out trash, or checking and cleaning bathroom. Perform food preparation duties such as preparing salads, appetizers, and cold dishes, and portioning desserts. Escort guests to their tables. Garnish and decorate dishes in preparation for serving. Fill salt, pepper, sugar, cream, condiment, and napkin containers. Thank guests for their visit and invite them to return. Attend all scheduled employee meetings and offers suggestions for improvement. Coordinate with and assist fellow employees to meet guests' needs and support the operation of the restaurant. Fill-in for fellow employees where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operations.

Ring drink orders into computer immediately, collect money from guests for drinks served and make change. Stock bar with beer, wine, liquor and related supplies such as ice, glassware, napkins or straws. Arrange bottles and glasses to maintain an attractive display. Wash and sterilize stemware. Be attentive! Offer assistance before the guest has to ask for it. Count drinks guests are served. Place current bar tabs in front of guests at all times. Monitor and ensure that no guest receives more than the allowed number of specific drinks. Anticipate your guest's needs. Follow the half-full rule when offering another drink. Be alert of guest signals (raising a hand, making eye contact, etc.), and acknowledge the guest to let them know the bartender will be right with them. Take, fill and check on to go orders. Handle money. Communicate with server to have drinks ran when ready. Run drinks when able to. Serve alcohol responsibly. Should a guest reach the state where the bartender does not feel the guest should drive, supply a taxi. Do not hesitate to ask for management intervention if necessary.
