Arizona Autism Charter School is seeking dedicated team members to support the growth and development of students on the autism spectrum. Staff work at one campus location, follow consistent schedules, and receive ongoing mentoring, support, and professional development with opportunities for career advancement.
Under the supervision of the Applied Behavior Analysis Co-Director, Behavior Specialists implement ABA strategies in the classroom to help students access the curriculum and meet IEP goals. This is a school-year position with optional summer opportunities. Candidates should have classroom experience and a strong understanding of ABA principles. Behavior Paraprofessional positions are available for applicants with less experience.
Duties:
Assists in the implementation of instructional programs, including self-help and behavior management, as well as instruction.
Work as part of a classroom team to support academic instruction and behavior plans.
Execute lessons as directed by the teacher or classroom lead. These may include supporting independent work, special projects, or teaching a lesson to a small group.
Assist with classroom planning and preparing materials with the classroom teacher.
Assist students in participating in classroom routines, transitions, and self-care tasks as necessary.
Implement behavior intervention techniques in alignment with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) as directed by the ABA Manager or Campus Director.
Mentor and train Paraprofessionals on best practices.
Follow tier-one behavioral supports and behavior plans as directed.
Able to obtain and maintain QBS certification.
Strong adherence to policies as outlined in the AZACS Employee Handbook.
Maintain professional conduct and appearance.
Work with special education students may include lifting, feeding, changing, toileting, and other services.
Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
Other duties as assigned by the Managers and Directors.
Minimum Qualifications:
At least 1-2 years of experience in a classroom setting.
Must have an understanding of behavioral characteristics associated with autism and other behavioral issues.
A strong foundation in applied behavior analysis is preferred.
Has good communication skills, both written and verbal, particularly with parents and education professionals.
Has a basic understanding of instructional methods and education curriculum.
Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
Must be able to handle emotionally charged situations.
Has the ability to train other people to apply behavior management techniques effectively.
Track record of success in behavior management with students with autism or other special needs
Ability to approach situations with optimism and perseverance
Ability to work independently and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to exercise reasonable judgment and maintain confidentiality
A valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card is required
First aid/CPR certification is required within 30 days of hire
High school diploma or equivalent required

One of the things BehaviorTechnicians tend to look for when evaluating different employers is training and professional development. This is an area where AZA United goes above and beyond. To begin, every new BehaviorTechnician spends 2 weeks completing a hands-on paid training program at out East Valley Center, which is our model for ABA excellence, and we want every ABA Therapist to have the opportunity to learn in that environment, surrounded by peers and seasoned BCBAs. All BehaviorTechnicians participate in a monthly virtual professional development seminar hosted by our senior ABA staff members, and all of that is paid time for you as well. Ultimately, the feedback we most consistently receive from our BehaviorTechnicians is that they feel supported and mentored by our senior staff, which comes in part from monthly supervision and oversight sessions with our BCBAs as well as hands-on training for each new client.
Career Development
The role of BehaviorTechnician is an excellent way to launch or expand your career in the field of autism treatment. If you don't already have it, our team will provide all the training and supervision you need to become nationally certified as a Registered BehaviorTechnician (RBT). Coordinates and schedules CFT/Service Plan meetings with natural, formal supports, and system stakeholders
Submits appropriate referrals to clinical outpatient services within agency and other behavioral health providers identified by the CFT.
Updates and maintains electronic medical records on each case which include but not limited to; Annual Assessment Update, RBHA demographics, Child and adolescent service intensity instrument (CALOCUS), and CFT/Service Plan
Completes strength assessments and crisis/safety plans with families according to RBHA and the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) guidelines.
Develops positive supportive relationships with consumers, family, stakeholders, and other Terros employees and Boys and Girls Club employees. Actively leads group prevention or therapeutic group activities at assigned Boys and Girls Clubs of the Valley locations.

• A State Hospital employee must be able to obtain a valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card pursuant to A.R.S. § 41-1758.07.
• Attend required training at the start of employment.
• Employees who drive on state business require possession of and the ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver's license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any driver training (See Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.11).

As a Behavioral Health Technician 1 - ROVER, you'll:
Work full-time, 40 hours a week on-site.
Supervise patient's daily living, social skills, and money management.
