    Job Description We are seeking a data-driven and analytical Data Analyst to join our growing marketing and analytics team. This high-impact role will be responsible for generating actionable insights through analysis of customer data, building dashboards, and supporting marketing optimization efforts. You'll play a key part in bridging the gap between data and our marketing and merchandising teams to deliver measurable results. This position blends data analysis with strategy, offering an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about uncovering insights. Key Responsibilities: Write advanced SQL queries to extract customer data, campaign/product performance, and behavioral trends. Develop dashboards and reports using SQL and visualization tools (e.g. Excel, PowerBI). Maintain and evolve Power BI models and visualizations, ensuring fast load times and intuitive user experiences. Analyze product performance, including sales trends, and inventory levels. Analyze customer databases to evaluate campaign effectiveness and customer behavior. Support the execution of catalog campaigns, including audience selection, list management, and performance analysis. Validate and import list hygiene and circulation files sourced from marketing partners to our in-house database. Perform complex data extraction, segmentation, and reporting to support marketing initiatives. Design and analyze marketing and website A/B tests to measure campaign effectiveness, identify performance drivers, and inform strategic improvements. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop data-driven marketing strategies that improve campaign ROI and drive sales. Track campaign performance, analyze results, and develop actionable insights for continuous improvement. Work with Data Warehouse and IT teams to source and validate new data inputs, resolve database issues, and ensure data integrity. Develop and present advanced analytics related to customer segmentation, performance, and campaign effectiveness to leadership. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Statistics, or a related field. 3-5 years of experience in database marketing. 3-5 years of experience with SQL and relational databases. Experience managing large data sets and using data analysis tools to inform marketing strategy. Excellent problem-solving skills and an ability to translate data into actionable insights. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Effective communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder presentations. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (e.g. pivot tables, advanced formulas, Power Query). Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Excel, PowerBI, Tableau) a plus. Additionally, you will oversee our email system replatforming, managing both current-state operations within our custom platform and the transition to a modern solution as part of our upcoming martech transformation and move to Shopify. As the subject matter expert in email marketing, you will own the full channel roadmap-balancing promotional campaigns with automated lifecycle journeys, developing test-and-learn strategies, and delivering measurable impact. This role requires deep knowledge of email best practices, ESP capabilities (ideally Klaviyo or Attentive), and strong leadership skills to manage a cross-functional team to deliver results. Key Responsibility Areas: Email Strategy & Execution: Own the end-to-end strategy and execution for email marketing campaigns, including promotional, triggered, lifecycle, and transactional messaging. Build and refine a cohesive content calendar aligned with product launches, promotions, and seasonal storytelling. Lead the development and optimization of triggered programs (e.g., welcome series, cart/browse abandonment, loyalty, back-in-stock, etc.). Set channel growth targets, own revenue forecasting, and deliver results through disciplined optimization. Effectively manage and optimize campaigns within our current custom email platform while preparing for the upcoming technology migration. Audience Segmentation & Personalization: Adjust segmentation strategies as needed using first-party, behavioral, transactional, and demographic data. Monitor list hygiene and performance to ensure optimal deliverability and engagement. Develop and deliver personalized, relevant messaging across the customer journey. Collaborate with Engineering and Analytics Teams to understand current data structures and define future-state audience architecture for the new platform. Performance Analysis & Optimization: Define KPIs and reporting frameworks for email, including open rate, CTR, CVR, and revenue per email. Lead rigorous A/B testing across subject lines, creative, timing, and CTAs; translate findings into actionable insights. Own dashboards and attribution reporting in tools such as Google Analytics and internal BI platforms. Ensure channel stability, deliverability, and revenue continuity throughout the transition from the current custom platform to the new platform. Team Leadership: Manage direct reports and cross-functional partners to deliver solid email marketing campaigns and results. Foster a culture of curiosity, accountability, and continuous improvement. Set clear goals, provide timely feedback, and ensure team alignment with business priorities. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Merchandising, Ecommerce, and Creative teams to align messaging with business goals and brand values. Ensure full compliance with GDPR, CAN-SPAM, and global privacy laws. Represent the email channel in integrated marketing planning. Required Skills, Experience & Abilities: 6-8+ years of experience managing email/CRM programs, ideally in an omnichannel retail or DTC environment. 1+ years of direct team leadership experience. Deep expertise in email/SMS platforms (e.g., Klaviyo, Attentive, etc.) Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and QA tools. Proven success building and optimizing lifecycle programs and automated journeys. Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data tools like Google Analytics or similar. Command of deliverability practices (SPF, DKIM, DMARC, IP warming, etc.). Build Relationships: Establish connections with customers, share expertise, and demonstrate a passion for learning and sharing product knowledge. Advocate for Customers: Listen actively to understand customer needs and solve problems efficiently at the first point of contact. Leverage Technology: Use POS, customer systems, and mobile devices to provide seamless, fast omni-channel service. Promote Initiatives: Drive excitement around L.L.Bean sponsored programs, including Outdoor Discovery School and the L.L.Bean Mastercard program. Maintain Standards: Ensure a well-organized store, uphold visual and merchandising standards, and support store operations processes. Collaborate: Work as part of a team to achieve results, create a positive work environment, and adapt to changing business needs. Health and Safety: Contribute to a safe and healthy workplace by following all safety policies and procedures. Physical Demands: Required to stand, walk during shift; talk or hear, both in person and by headset; Occasionally ascend or descend ladders, stairs, ramps Repetitive motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers; occasionally to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift 1 to 20 pounds Occasionally move and lift objects up to 40 pounds (utilizing a team lift as needed) Skills and Qualifications: Passion for providing world-class customer service. Friendly and outgoing communication style. Proficiency with computer systems and the ability to learn new technologies. Adaptability and openness to change. Availability to work varied hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Genuine passion for the outdoors and participation in outdoor activities.
